This is my family and pearls. Not a pearl necklace, just individual pearls. You're supposed to make a necklace with them as you collect them over the years, but they are just sitting in storage somewhere. I should really find them and sell them, but I don't think they are worth enough for the effort. Oh that’s interesting. And also a choking hazard. Do you get like one per year? For boys and girls? It was only for the girls in the family and you got them for your birthday and special religious milestones (baptism, communion, confession). I should ask my cousins what they did with theirs.

I have a probably lame confession. I bought a queen size bed for my 3 yo DD, to replace her crib. It was a really good deal for the bed, and we got a mattress for cheap as well. It will last her for a while at least. BIL feels that it was a bad decision. One of my kids has a queen, the other has a full. I don’t see any draw backs to the larger bed if you have the space.

I’m kind of shocked at how many people get cash for their newborns/kids? Never have I ever been given straight up money for my kid as a gift. Target gift card maybe. We got cash for my daughter's Baptism but that was it really. When she was born we got mostly physical gifts.

Well I was just giving you the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes details are left out and then it's mayhem. It was a lame confession because as soon as I posted it I realized it’s kind of untrue since I am going to remedy the situation before we leave. I’m bad at confessions because I have to much guilt and usually fix whatever it was I was going to confess. Good thing I jumped to the end. I read your original post and I was a bit shocked. I'm glad you're leaving food/cash for everyone. I don't think it's a huge deal if the house doesn't look perfect but I would feel awful if someone came to watch my kids and then there wasn't any food for them all and they had to take my kids to go grocery shopping- which I won't even do with them myself.

She moves a lot and the twin is just not comfortable for her

38 yo me would be filing charges against my mother. 20 year old me who had no other support aside from my parents? Probably not One of my responsibilities is responding to identity theft claims. When we get a claim the first thing we ask for is a police report. That weeds out about half of the claims as they are bogus (someone looking to have derogatory marks removed from their credit), and most of the time if there has been theft it's a relative of the victim and they are unwilling to go to the police - so the obligation remains. On the flip to using children's information we've seen people setup contracts in their parent's or grandparent's names. Sometimes they use a POA, which we've now restricted. It's a sad state when Grandma finds out that grandson used her name for a $100,000 contract.

Yea I got the job! I need to quit this one though. I’ll do that this afternoon. I’m intentionally ignoring your other question 😃 Don't make me post stalk you. New company? New industry? new title? more money? what are the cons? I'm excited for you! Thank you! New company, new industry, finance manager title, a very substantial bump, cons are limited. I’d say the biggest “con” is I have to commute to the city now but that’s not major. I’m very excited to start. I wasn’t looking but when this opportunity came to me I couldn’t turn it down.

veganontuesdays I’ve taken one drug test in my life and it was for my dad not even a job. I told the lady I really needed to poop and I guess she either didn’t believe me or didn’t care. She stayed. I pooped.

@gentleapricot, I'm really impressed with your drive and career focus. At your age. As a single mom. But most importantly, as a woman in finance. I'll fangirl you from the sidelines.

Speaking of new jobs, H had 3 rounds of interviews for a new job and found out this week he did not get it. He was pretty bummed, but my confession is...I was sort of mad at him, because this would have been a serious life changing financial move for us.
I realize that’s unfair to H and totally irrational, but I’m recovering from mentally spending his signing bonus money already.

If I’m doing you a favor, I don’t want to stay in your messy house with nothing to eat. Totally agree. My sister is staying here next week to watch the girls (with her 9 month old, and also while she is 7 weeks pregnant with morning sickness) and I have asked her every day "is there any food specifically you want? Can I send you for a mani pedi one day? How else can I do LITERALLY ANYTHING BECAUSE YOU ARE A SAINT"

H has been in job limbo for a couple years now. He's going to have to take a significant pay cut sooner rather than later, but I'm trying to look on the bright side that it hasn't happened yet.

I kind of wish my DD had a queen. For sure if we didn’t have a guest room, she would.

It will last her for a while at least. BIL feels that it was a bad decision. I think this is a great decision. You won't have to buy her another bed ever. You can maybe replace the mattress in a decade. Part of what we're struggling with with my youngest's room is I don't want to buy a twin bed because I'd rather just buy something he can sleep in forever, like a queen. My oldest has a queen bed. Yes, this was my thought as well. My mom bought me a full at 3 and I slept in it until I moved out, only having to replace the mattress. It is still at her house now.

My kid got two gold rings for his first birthday, which is a tradition in my culture. I have no idea what to do with them - I guess I’ll put them someplace safe and give them to him when he’s older? I’m pretty sure my mom sold mine at some point since I never saw them. DD and DS received the gold rings too. DH is Korean. We have the rings in our safe. Every now and then DD will ask to see hers but that's about it. We plan on giving the rings to them when they're older.

My confession is that I think a twin bed is teh fucking worst and I'll do everything I can to try to give my kids more sleeping space. Yes yes yes yes yes I know space/finances don't always allow this. I'm just saying in my ideal and even baseline scenario, no one is sleeping in a twin bed. come visit and I'll give you the finest twin size air mattress money can buy.

It gives her space to play, but then also sleepovers are fun.
