We hit the polls first thing this morning (VA). Other than MH and I, there was only one other person there, but it was early. DD got a "Future Voter" sticker and asked as we were walking out if she could go and vote again.

I've been reminding all my VA friends and family to vote!! We didn't have any primary candidates to vote for in my district, so no voting for me.
Thinking good thoughts for all the primaries today!

We didn't have time to vote this morning. I want to take Lugnut with me when we go, so well have to pick her up from daycare and then go vote. In November she was only 2 months old, so it'll be fun to take her now that she's more interactive.

I'll try my best to make it to vote today. I'll be honest that I haven't had the time to research the candidates but I received an email from Planned Parenthood that outlined their endorsements based on women's rights so I'll go by that.

In my city we have a big mayoral election and city council vote. There are 12 candidates for 6 council positions. It is almost overwhelming. I had to write a cheat sheet to keep my list straight.

byjove, that mayoral race is pretty interesting to me. I read an article about your mayor in WashPo (I think it was WashPo anyway.) recently and have been following.

So excited for his first trip to the polls: Dems were totally unopposed in my district so it was just the Republican senate, where your choices were the guy endorsed by Rand Paul, the guy endorsed by Rafael Cruz, or Corey fucking Stewart. Lovely selection.

We voted! We went at the same time, and there was no line. All the polling place workers got a kick out of the baby. She kept babbling at them. I ended up choosing the Democratic ballot because I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the Republican Senate choices.

VA results rolling in. So far Nick Freitas (45.2%) and Corey Stewart (43.0%) are in a tight race for the Senate nomination.

The mayor and 4 or 5 city council candidates were at our polling place when we went. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I don’t want anybody to talk to me before I go in the polls. The mayor tried to come talk to DH and I and we were like no thanks and she scowled at us! She said “you know I am the mayor?” Yes, yes we do. One thanked us for voting on the way out- which I am cool with.

90% reporting. Stewart and Freitas are practically tied. Less than 100 votes separate them. Ugh.

I’m worried that Trump is going to involve himself and his cronies in a big way behind Stewart to get back at TK for the 2016 election. ☹️

I saw that Justin Wilson won the Alexandria mayoral primary. I had also been following the race b/ some friends were fairly invested in his candidacy.

I'm curious to see what the Koch brothers will do. They provided funding to Freitas, Stewart's opponent.

City council ended up pretty interesting, IMHO. Out of the 12 candidates, 5 were old white men. None were elected! There were 4 incumbents running and only two were elected*. It is split 3 women (who are white) and 3 men- a son of Mexican immigrants, a Sudanese immigrant, and a black man that group up in the city's public housing.
*I get this is just the primary, but this will basically be it for the election this fall
