“The outcome of cases like this in other circumstances must await further elaboration in the courts,” Justice Kennedy wrote, “all in the context of recognizing that these disputes must be resolved with tolerance, without undue disrespect to sincere religious beliefs, and without subjecting gay persons to indignities when they seek goods and services in an open market.” Supreme Court Sides With Baker Who Turned Away Gay Couple nyti.ms/2Hiqu9I

SCOTUS threw out a lower court ruling about the immigrant teen who was held in federal custody obtaining an abortion. "The action by the justices provided a legal victory to Trump’s administration even though the teenager already has had the abortion because it eliminated a precedent at the federal appeals court level that could have applied in similar circumstances in which detained minors sought abortions. "In the unsigned opinion with no dissents, the justices threw out the appeals court decision on the grounds that the dispute became moot once the unnamed teenager had the abortion." They also declined to take up the adminstration's request that the ACLU lawyers who took the teen's case face disciplinary action. www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-abortion-immigrant/supreme-court-hands-trump-win-in-pregnant-immigrant-teen-case-idUSKCN1J01RB

This was a pretty good statement on the Colorado case from Add the Words Idaho
Official statement from Add the Words, Idaho regarding the Supreme Court ruling on the Masterpiece Cakeshop vs Colorado Civil Rights Commission.
“While we are not enthusiastic about today’s Supreme Court ruling, we are ensuring to emphasize today reaffirmed the core principle; that businesses open to the public must be open to all. The Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case didn’t lead the court accept arguments that will set us back on equality by making our basic civil rights protections unenforceable, but reversed this case based on concerns specific to the facts of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s ruling. We will be diligent in arming people with the facts, this ruling isn’t a license to discriminate. Add the Words, Idaho will continue our work, dedicated to updating of the Idaho Human Rights Acts to include equal protections under the law for all people, including members of the LGBTQ community in regards to employment, housing and public accommodations. Everyone should have the opportunity to live, work and thrive in their communities without fear of discrimination, domination or violence.”

It was a 5-4 decision. You can read it here: www.supremecourt.gov" Respondents contend that Ohio’s process for removing voters on change-of-residence grounds violates this federal law. The Ohio pro- cess at issue relies on the failure to vote for two years as a rough way of identifying voters who may have moved. It sends these nonvoters a pre-addressed, postage prepaid return card, asking them to verify that they still reside at the same address. Voters who do not return the card and fail to vote in any election for four more years are presumed to have moved and are removed from the rolls. Held: The process that Ohio uses to remove voters on change-of- residence grounds does not violate the Failure-to-Vote Clause or any other part of the NVRA. Pp. 8–21. (a) Ohio’s law does not violate the Failure-to-Vote Clause. Pp. 8– 16. (1) Ohio’s removal process follows subsection (d) to the letter: It does not remove a registrant on change-of-residence grounds unless the registrant is sent and fails to mail back a return card and then fails to vote for an additional four years. See §20507(d)(1)(B). Pp. 8– 9. (2) Nonetheless, respondents argue that Ohio’s process violates subsection (b)’s Failure-to-Vote Clause by using a person’s failure to vote twice over: once as the trigger for sending return cards and again as one of the two requirements for removal. But Congress could not have meant for the Failure-to-Vote Clause to cannibalize subsection (d) in that way. Instead, the Failure-to-Vote Clause, both as originally enacted in the NVRA and as amended by HAVA, simply forbids the use of nonvoting as the sole criterion for removing a regis- trant, and Ohio does not use it that way."

They've finally ruled on Carpenter. Big victory for privacy rights advocates and the 4th amendment!
I've done 15 rounds on this one many a time and am satisfied with the ruling.

I'm late to this but...Ignorant, terrifying, discriminatory and really sounds like it was not a fair trial in any way. Terrifying, again. So many points to make but everything feels like a lost cause.
