SS - I’m called Mama or Mommy, but never write Mama. When the kids ask me to write or spell my name, I use Mommy. Don’t know why.
Also, Momma looks and sounds weird to me.
And they are two different words.

Mama. But I don't take issue with spelling it Momma. I don't pronounce them differently or anything.

Are people pronouncing mama and momma (this looks weird to me) differently?

DD calls me “mom-ma” and writes it that way so with her I use that with anything to her. It’s more recent and to me a sign that I’m about to just be “mom” DS says “ma ma” so I write it like that

And now that I think about it, my kids pronounce it “Mumma.”

I've never been called anything except Mom or Mommy so I haven't thought about it before. Depends on the child's pronunciation, I guess. If the M in the middle is distinctly being pronounced in both syllables, I'd go with Mom-ma.

Which makes no sense at all because Mommy doesn't sound that way.

My son calls me mama most of the time. He will randomly say mom every once and a while but I prefer mama.

Its always been Momma here, it seems more...hmmm Southern. And while I don't agree with all things Southern, my speech tends to get pretty Southern at times

Mama, but MH calls his grandmother Grandmomma, and spells it like that.

I feel like “momma” is the proper way to spell it, but someone above wrote out how they may be pronounced differently and that also makes sense.
Edited to add: when I read “mama” in my head I hear “maw maw”. I realize now that’s not the norm haha

How I hear/say them:
Mama = mah-mah
Momma = mom-uh

How I hear/say them: Mama = mah-mah Momma = mom-uh I say Mama how you say Momma. But I'd still spell it like Mama.
