Its always been Momma here, it seems more...hmmm Southern. And while I don't agree with all things Southern, my speech tends to get pretty Southern at times It's definitely southern, I think. When I see it spelled that way, I think of my favorite southern sandwich place, Momma Goldberg's.

It’s the worst, but I’m less annoyed by it than “mooommmmyyy” in the middle of the night, because my sister is deaf and momomomomom was the first real word she said. It makes me laugh how annoyed my mom was and signing angrily back “my name is M. O. M. !!!” She’s 33 and still does it. She also named all her dolls Bob, so she can do one syllable, just not momomomom. (Side note: talking baby names with her and her also deaf husband has been trying to say the least.)

Momma, but southern here.
SO tries very hard to refer to me as momma but struggles. He asked DS to “ask your mum” once or twice and DS is always “WHO DAT”
Never, ever, ever MA. Which is what DS’s dad’s side of the family used (from Jersey).

Are people pronouncing mama and momma (this looks weird to me) differently? I say them differently. But, I say merry, mary, and marry all differently, too. (Sorry if this leads to anecdotes)

I called my mother Mama and do not want mine to call me that. Not because I dislike her but it is her name in my mind. I prefer Mom and refer to myself as Mom.

My kids pronounce it mom-muh. Distinctively 2 m’a and even more so when they are whining. I spell it momma.

How I hear/say them: Mama = mah-mah Momma = mom-uh +1 My kids call me Mommy, but I would spell it Momma. Mama reminds me of a scary movie.

I am mommy. We don't mama or momma here. Maybe #regional? But I've only heard people referred to as mommy or mom.

I’m “Mommy.”
My mom is “mom”. But she is in my phone as “Momma” but I spell it on the board as “Mama” because I know a bunch of you are weirdos and have strong feels about this.

I’m mommy, but you have to say it 5 times for each time you need me. 🤣
I’m also Mom and my first name. I’ll answer to pretty much anything.
For purposes of this convo though, if I’m typing mama or momma I would always type momma. As in “I get in from my momma”.

I’m pretty sure my kid calls me dada. 😒 When my nephew was a toddler he was confused, as most toddlers are. He used to call me uncle real name. Spoiler alert: I’m a girl.

When I was little I called my parents Mama and Papa. Now it's Ma about 90% of the time and Mom the other 10%, and Dad.
I dislike Mommy and never used it as a kid, neither do my girls.

I just asked my kid (nearly 3) "whats my name?" to see if she'd say mom or mama, etc and she said my first and last name. Lol. I didn't actually know that she knew my full name.
