dapostrophe Sorry you got pushed back. I agree with sands42 that you should go into labor on your own. Are you still having contractions this morning? Yes, but not close together or anything. I just noticed they were strong enough to wake me up last night. H and I are going to walk around a bit. I might have to storm the hospital! I had to storm L&D with Poppy. I called when I was in my way and they told me to go straight to triage. I did, and gushed fluid all over the floor on my way there. They sent me to the waiting room because triage was full. Finally after about 20 minutes of sitting on a towel I was like, nope. I waddled over to the delivery area, pressed the intercom, and demanded a bed.

Trying to get P down for a nap but I'm not optimistic. She let me go to the gym so I guess I should count my blessings. Yesterday's scream fest was from 10:30 am am through 10:30 pm.
There is a brand new Improv around the corner from my house and I'm taking Pete tonight as a surprise. Norm McDonald is the main act and Pete loves him so he'll be thrilled.
I hope P calms down for my sister because she's never had to handle a colicky baby before and it's going to wreck her nerves if she does what I expect and scream cry for hours on end.

Do you guys put a summer wreath on your front door? I have a faux peony wreath on my door and I think I want to switch it up for summer. In the past I haven’t had anything hanging in the summer.

We used to spend two weeks at my grandparents' each summer. They only live one town over so my dad would still come by for dinner a couple times a week and called us every day (we were with his parents). I loved it. We swam all day, my grandma taught me how to cook and my sister how to paint. She showed us how to do genealogical research. I miss her, especially now that I have kids. My grandpa took us to the circus every year. It horrifies me now, but I enjoyed it as a child because it never occurred to me that the elephants were being beaten.
We never saw much of my maternal grandmother. She was abusive to my mom and aunts and I always knew she was BSC. My mom never let her anywhere near us unsupervised.
I'd be fine to let my mom or sisters take the kids for an extended period. I trust my dad and SM, too, but my SM has never raised small children (she married my dad when we were 12 and 10, respectively) and I think she would get overwhelmed quickly.

I do! I have magnolia leaves up right now with a linen-y sort of bow. Pottery Barn has a super cute one for the 4th of July that is really reasonably priced, I was thinking about getting that one for later in the summer. eta: *had*...apparently everyone else liked it, too, b/c it is sold out

Not yet, but I will in a couple of weeks when I get one from my mom. My door felt bare after I took my Easter wreath down. My mom loves to give gifts but always wants ideas and I never know what to tell her. This was right up her alley so I requested one for my birthday.

No wreath because we don't have a screen/storm door and our front door faces north, so if I hung something on it, the wind and rain would destroy it.
Our storm doors are being installed middle of June, so I'll be all about the wreaths after that! Although saying that, and knowing how lazy I am, I will probably change it for Christmas and then a wreath I use all the other time of the year!

It was only like $29...no wonder it's long gone. www.potterybarn.com/products/faux-liberty-wreath/ I'm sure you could find something similar at Kirklands or one of those places you mentioned. I actually got my magnolia wreath at HL and it's held up really well.

I’m sorry kim22Oh no dapostrophe. They seriously need to make an exception for you. We used to live a few streets from my grandparents growing up so i would spend the night there. Also my paternal aunt used to take us to her house some weekends. MH is taking the kids to Oklahoma without me in August for a week. I’m equal parts nervous and excited. I’ll miss them terribly. His mom wants to take them for extended time in the summers without us, but i won’t let her because i think they’ll be bored there. She can be very passive and there isn’t much to do at her house. I can see them spending many hours on her iPad.

No wreath. But I love magnolias and floated Magnolia as a potential name for P when I was pregnant. Pete hated it.
I am seeing I really had a thing for flower and tree names with this baby.

The state of California called me about my maternity leave (I'm assuming) but didn't leave a message. I called back and got an automated message to call other numbers but they are all standard automated numbers. Should I try and contact them or wait for another call?

IME, they send everything in the mail so I'd just wait for that correspondence unless you think there's an issue that needs to be resolved ASAP.

We survived Colin's visit to kindergarten and his bus ride around town. He got quickly overwhelmed when we first arrived and everyone was packed in the entry, checking out class assignments. But he relaxed as soon as we got to his class and the kids started decorating their name banners. Thank goodness, because I was almost in tears just seeing him so out of sorts. He got right to his project and then happily left us behind to go ride the bus, so I'm not too worried. Plus we have contact info for the whole class, so we can try to get together with some of the kids over the summer.
Also his friend Natasha is in his class and another 8 or so from daycare are in the other 2 classes, so he'll see them at lunch and recess as well as on the bus.
Tonight is his class dinner so my SIL will be over soon to watch Chase. He and his friends are so excited, it should be cute.
