Happy birthday nellieoleson! I don't really get the whole KonMari thing. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't bring me joy, but I still need. Like everything in my kitchen.

Happy birthday nellieoleson! Have a great time on your trip valiente! Sounds like so much fun. lollipop, I worked at express in high school and it was the same thing with buying the clothes. And then during certain weeks there were certain colors you had to wear (for awhile it was only blue and black) so you always had to be buying new stuff. In high school I didn't care because I pretty much only needed the money for clothes anyway, but now it would be a big no. Good luck with the campers kcrkcs. Sounds exhausting.

I had a great time at the wedding this past weekend, but I definitely drank too much. I was still feeling it this morning. Still, it's so nice to be able to get away and be carefree. And I ended up knowing two people there (plus the couple) so it was all good.
My ILs just left today. I feel a little bad because I snapped at my MIL yesterday, but I had been traveling all day and she just has this way of getting under my skin...

This is our first week of pony camp at the barn. I am not directly involved in the activities, but I still hate it. It brings total chaos to the barn for the week and usually it's very peaceful here. But the kids love it. It's a good income booster for me, and I have to keep feeding the lesson program with new students. So it's a must. I have been dreading this day for weeks though. Omg. The little horse girl in me is so excited. One of my guilty pleasures is a book series called Bittersweet Farms. This reminds me of one of the books. Love. Sorry for the stress, though.

crimsonandclover re the baptism being too much- are they getting to an age where that's a thing? Early on L was very portable and flexible. Dinner, groceries, etc. etc. now not so much. Is this a thing for this age? YES. I told H the other day that I don't want to take DD2 to another restaurant until she's like 5. They get aoooo frustrated.

Happy birthday nellieoleson! I laughed at your sock drawer comment. I need to Kon Mari everything. silverspoon, room transitions are so hard. I like them in the end, though, because being with the older kids usually leads to some developmental jumps. Also I'm stressed for you about your mom staying at your house. Hire a house cleaner to come for a few hours and do a detail deep clean. scorpioscuba, poor puppy! Glad you have a good back up plan. Enjoy your trip!

lollipop, yeah, I'd pass on that job. Seems like more hassle than you'd get out of it. tinydancer, glad you had fun this weekend! Your MIL will forgive you. Maybe you can call her and explain that you were tired. Or just let it blow over.

Hello! I'm going a little crazy packing for our trip Friday. I can't believe it's been nearly two years since Scotland and DD was on the inside and DS was my little baby. Should be... interesting. DD took exactly one step this weekend. I'm ready for girlie to walk before the trip. It will be so much cleaner. kcrkcs, pony camp sounds like a handful. Part of our trip will be spending a week on a family dairy farm and usually I love it there but with two littles I see danger everywhere. Your trip sounds amazing!!! I hope DD starts taking more steps to make the trip easier.

dizzycooks, your day sounds exhausting! I feel you on the finger sucking. I had two girls this year in fourth grade that still hadn't kicked the habit. Your DD has lots of time though. My mom got some kind of retainer for me that had pokey things on it so it was uncomfortable to suck.

Happy birthday nellieoleson! I don't really get the whole KonMari thing. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't bring me joy, but I still need. Like everything in my kitchen. I haven't KM'd my whole house or anything, but we did get rid of a vast amount of stuff when moving. And we basically put all the non-essentials in the garage and are slowing bringing stuff in as we need/want it - I think another big purge will happen soon. Sure, some of my stuff is functional rather than joy-bringing, but I did get rid of all kitchen stuff and clothes that I never used or actively disliked. They were just making clutter. My biggest challenge is kids clothes. My girls wear about 20% of the clothes they have, the rest just fills up drawers and closets. I always think maybe they will wear it sometime, or that Dd1 will maybe agree to wear that one super cute dress I bought her someday, so I hold on to them. I just need to face the facts and get them out of here.

[Conversation I just had with Dd1 when we saw a new neighborhood cat.]
Me: I don't know if that kitty will want to be our friend. It seems like the kind of cat who is afraid of strangers.
Dd2: Kitties are strangers? WAIT. WE are strangers????!
*mind blown*

Guys, my kid has started this awful new thing where he sticks his hand down his throat and makes these awful retching noises.
His favorite time to do this? IN THE CAR WHERE I CAN'T STOP HIM.
This morning we finally get to daycare and his hands are covered in slimy awfulness and he had some on his shirt. NOT GOOD.

silverspoon , that sounds totally gross - he'll grow out of it, though. DD3's DC teacher told me today that 2 kids freaked out at nap time because they couldn't find their pacifiers. When DD3 woke up, they went in to get her and found her with one pacifier in her mouth and the other stashed under her mattress. The little pacifier thief! FTR - she hasn't taken a pacifier voluntarily since she was about 8 months old. ETA: just reread that and saw that it sounds rather dismissive. Sorry, it was meant to be sympathetic. Kids do really weird things, and for the most part it doesn't last too long.

silverspoon, there is always a silver lining. I saw a FB post yesterday of a couple who took their baby to swim class and in the car on the way there they smelled poop. When they arrived they went to get her out of her car seat and there was poop everywhere. She must have pulled it out of her diaper. It was in her face hands carseat all over the back seat of the car. They videotaped it. OMG it was disgusting. So yes, what he is doing is gross but, as usual with toddlers, it could be worse!

I realized this morning that my sister is coming to out house to babysit M for S's field trip. Which means I don't have to wake her up. Woo hoo!
H is sick. I think he's skipping game night, so I have to figure out something other than our usual for supper. When it's just me and the kids I usually just make KD. H isn't a big fan, so I need to think of something else.

M is sitting on the living room floor playing with a (clean) wipe. She keeps wiping her face and then squeezing the wipe as hard as she can, until it drips liquid. It's keeping her happy.

Happy belated nellieoleson!! silverspoon my DD does this but only when there is food in her mouth. Drives me crazy. I happen to think it's teething :/ lollipop yes! The wipes! My kid is obsessed with wipes - Wipes everything. Including the dogs butt! We have to watch her like a hawk to make sure if the wile goes near the dog, it goes in the garbage! Last night before bed I asked H if he wanted me to get up with the kids or if he was going to do it. And then I had to wake him up and couldn't get back to sleep. So now I'm awake, annoyed and have a headache.
H is going to deal with car stuff later, and call his benefits company, and get them to send a card or something so we can actually USA his benefits. It will save us a bit of money on my prescriptions, and it covers massages, physio, and chiropractor appointments I think. I know they cover massages for sure, like 3 a year or something. And glasses, up to a certain amount, which S is going to need in the next year or so.

He has decided he can feed himself everything now. He does not need nor want my help. I used to try to feed him the first few bites of anything that required a utensil.
Those days are in the past. Last night's spanish rice went well. The dog certainly enjoys this latest phase.
