The DDs are back in preschool/daycare! ::happy dance::
The baptism was a bit much for DD3 yesterday - she started melting down about 2pm - so I'm planning on a quiet afternoon at home once I pick them all up.

This is our first week of pony camp at the barn. I am not directly involved in the activities, but I still hate it. It brings total chaos to the barn for the week and usually it's very peaceful here. But the kids love it. It's a good income booster for me, and I have to keep feeding the lesson program with new students. So it's a must. I have been dreading this day for weeks though.

crimsonandclover re the baptism being too much- are they getting to an age where that's a thing? Early on L was very portable and flexible. Dinner, groceries, etc. etc. now not so much. Is this a thing for this age?

kcrkcs, I can only imagine! How old are the campers? It must take a ton of supervision to make sure they're entertained all day and they don't get themselves killed.

kcrkcs I'm stressed just thinking about a bunch of kids and horses together. I hope the week goes quickly for you! I went to drop him off and they told me he's starting the day in his new room. He seemed sad and confused when we left his old teachers. There was one that he just adored and she gave him a hug and told him she would come visit him. My poor little confused dude. I'm sure he'll have fun, but still.

Definitely a thing, kcrkcs. This is the age where they have definite ideas of what they want to do, are extremely mobile, yet limited communication. Can be a recipe for disaster! My strategies to survive being out are lots of snacks and attempting to keep to whatever sleep/nap schedule possible. But that isn't a guarantee. Good luck with pony camp, sounds stressful!

I'm having my mom go to our house and pick up our dog today to keep her for the rest of our trip. We had 2 of H's friends from school staying there. She knows them and we trust them but it's just not working out. I've been sad for 2 days worried about it but as usual Mom to the rescue. I try to find ways to not burden her (she is usually our dog sitter) and it just never works out.
But today we are going to the SD Zoo. I'm so excited. It's an awesome zoo!

Aww, I know in the end he will be fine, silverspoon but man what a way to kick off a Monday. Change is hard!! That's so sweet one of the teachers said she will go check on him.

scorpioscuba That reminds me of my latest drama that's not really drama. My parents are supposed to keep our dog while we're on vacation in July. Well, my mom now thinks their house might be too overwhelming (they have 2 that are for the most part fine, but add in a 3rd and it's a lot) for my dog so she might just stay at my house all week. Stay. At my house. My mom. We get along great, really, but there is no one cleaner and more particular about a home than she is and now I'm planning the deepest of all deep cleans that have deeply cleaned before. I'm trying to convince her my dog will be fine and she doesn't really want to stay in my house in the country with no alarm system or all the other comforts (I don't even know what I'm saying at this point) she's used to. I'm freaking out man.

M keeps sleeping layer than usual. For like 2 months she's been getting up between 6:30 and 7:39. Suddenly she's been getting up around 8:30. It's great, because I love sleep, but it just in time for the 2 days we have to get up early to get S to school in the morning, and I hate having to wake her up. It makes her grouchy.
We spent Saturday afternoon with my BFF, and we've made tentative plans to go to the lake with her and her H. Yesterday my mom's BFF flew in for the day. Back to our routine today.

Hello! I'm going a little crazy packing for our trip Friday. I can't believe it's been nearly two years since Scotland and DD was on the inside and DS was my little baby. Should be... interesting. DD took exactly one step this weekend. I'm ready for girlie to walk before the trip. It will be so much cleaner. kcrkcs, pony camp sounds like a handful. Part of our trip will be spending a week on a family dairy farm and usually I love it there but with two littles I see danger everywhere.

valiente are you going back to Scotland?? How long are you staying? I'm sure it'll be an adventure. kcrkcs horse camp would be something dd1 would love. I don't think there's any type of camp that is t a stressful chaotic experience for the adults involved. I'm sure it completely changes the dynamics of your barn for the week. lollipop kids are great for keeping you guessing aren't they. Yay for sleep, boo you can't enjoy it. How did the interviews turn out? I agree with the others, I'd take both jobs and hope you are surprised and like the one with more hours or that the other one has more shifts available and you can move there permanently. silverspoon I'm glad you mom can help with the dog, but yeah, people (parents! Mothers!!!) in my house while I'm gone...nope. scorpioscuba I hope it worked out. I'm sorry it was stressful I LOVE the SD zoo. We went when dd1 was 18mo (so long ago!) and it was amazing. Enjoy! crimsonandclover routine is good. I'm glad you're back in yours! kcrkcs yes, routine is a thing now. Obviously some kids can be flexible, but mostly they thrive on routine. My 5yo does better when we keep it simple and boring. I preface changes to our schedule with lots of discussion and warning. Think about Ls classroom, the schedule is the same everyday. The activities might change, but snack, playtime, outside, nap, reading time, etc all happen in the same order every day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And as for me, we spent Saturday at an all day music festival with bouncy houses and yummy food. Sunday they were exhausted. Today is the first day of VBS and I'm helping with a station (chaos!!, but so much fun). Dd1 showed us that she has a loose tooth so we are all in trying to break al three of our kids from their finger sucking habits. Someone hold me. It's rough and they are very sad. I'm teaching swim lessons all week too so basically we are busy the entire day. I am already tired and I haven't done anything around here. Literally dishes are everywhere and laundry is overflowing. It's only noon on Monday.

dizzycooks, what prompted you to break the finger sucking habit? DS sucks his fingers and DD sucks her thumb. I've been letting them be so far but I know one day they'll have to quit.

valiente well dd1 is 5 so it's been a subject for a year or so. It has affected both of their speech patterns, but dd1 has the most problems. It has also changed her jaw and teeth spacing. With a permanent tooth coming in, I'd like to avoid further messing with it since we are no longer dealing with baby teeth. I'm hoping we won't need braces, lol! Also, germs, kindergarten, teasing etc will be issues for her in. Three months. We figured dd2 can go along for the ride (and she's actually more willing than dd1) and sending dd3 along for the ride in hopes we only have to do this once. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

lollipop, I knew of someone who applied to work at Abercrombie. The employees were required to wear clothes that the store was currently selling (so they had to keep buying the clothes), and they were given so few shifts (max. 3 / week) that basically the store made money on its employees. I'm glad you saw through that and decided not to take it.

Where in Germany are you headed? We're driving from Prague to Landsberg in Bavaria. I'm not sure if a route has been planned... And then you'll fly home from Munich? I assume while you're in the area you'll check out the city - are you planning on going to Neuschwanstein? That's pretty much a must-do for any Americans spending any amount of time in the greater Munich area

And not really... everyone but the littles have been before and I don't think they'd be super interested. I know we'll do a day in Augsburg and a few on the farm. Probably one in Munich and then I might push for Berchtesgaden because mountains!! I was most recently in Germany Jan-Apr 2014 and did two weeks of travelling with MH so I've been to a lot of the touristy stuff fairly recently. This trip is mostly about the kids meeting their family and doing stuff they'll be enthusiastic about. ETA: I forgot, and my parents came to visit for a week before that so I'm kinda set for a while. I'm mostly in it for the beer and potato salad this time

valiente that trip sounds awesome! Have fun! Re: routine... dd has been whining lately when we get in the car but seems to have fun when we get where we are going so I push through. Dd and I took a four hour nap yesterday!!! We were both under the weather and needed to catch up. Poor thing had her first ear infection since getting tubes at the first of the year. I'm loving the nice weather. It's hot here but still feels ok in the shade. Dd loves to be outside all day it seems!

crimsonandclover re the baptism being too much- are they getting to an age where that's a thing? Early on L was very portable and flexible. Dinner, groceries, etc. etc. now not so much. Is this a thing for this age? Totally a thing. And unfortunately a thing that sticks around for a loooooong time. In fact, I have no idea when it ends! I try to limit our errand running to 2 or 3 stops max, keep meals somewhat at the same time every day, and make sure they know what to expect by lots of forewarning and talking about our plans step by step. I also pretty much refuse to keep them out later than 6pm unless I absolutely have to, because dealing with melting down kids is not my favorite way to spend an evening. I used to be a fairly freewheeling, unscheduled person so it was a huge adjustment, but I think it's actually been good for me overall. And it's certainly less hassle than dealing with cranky freaking out toddlers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
