Has anyone used any of the Oh K! Chok Chok Masks or products? My local grocery store has a small selection of their stuff, was wondering if it was any good. My local CVS had these 50% off last week. So far I’ve just tried the Snail Mask, but I bought three or four to try. Snail was good. Nothing amazing, but the fit was decent, the smell was nice, there was plenty of essence (lasted over 20 minutes before it started to dry), my skin definitely looked fresh and hydrated the next day.

I haven't tried these particular ones but I am a fan of under eye masks. I have the Jayjun green tea ones currently. I have sensitive eyes and I find the under eye masks irritate less. I love to use them in the morning when I need a quick pick me up/ more help because kids didn't sleep for my dark circles. They are just like a face mask. Put on and leave till dry or as long as you have time for.

That order looks good! The Thayers toner has clarifying and hydrating properties, so it’s a coin toss on whether you want to put it before or after the Vit C. I personally would probably put it after - just because I like the Vit C to go on first and do its “work” on my clean skin, but that’s just me. The order you have is just fine! 👍 This is why I asked! You guys have the best advice. My pores already look better. I don't understand how that is possible after one morning routine. Snail. It's the snail. I thank Taitai, weekly for getting me into it.

Ok, so I’m new here and just started posting in the blinds a few weeks ago and I think this thread got mentioned over there or something. I clicked on it and saw it was 40 pages long 😳 I got to about page 5 or 6 and realized there’s probably a lot newer stuff y’all have tried and can recommend. I’m 36 with normal to combo skin. I’ve got some fine lines on my forehead, 11s, slight crows feet, and just need to bring the glow back to my natural face. I’ve read about snail stuff, oil/double cleansing, etc, so I’m not a complete newbie, but I’m just getting into anti aging stuff. I can’t really afford a derm right now (other recent health diagnosis taking priority) but I’d like to really focus on my skin. I’ve been using gentle and low PH cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I used to subscribe to a ton of beauty boxes, but got overwhelmed with products and a bunch went unused. I love a good face mask. I’m open to trying new cleaners and toners and really intrigued by the oil/double cleansing. I haven’t read the Reddit thread on getting the grit out, but I have the link saved. So my question is, where would you start? I eventually want to get into retinol and all that, but I figured it would be best to start with some good, budget friendly basics. Welcome LaRo422 ! First thing is first - if you are concerned about anti-aging, you’d better be wearing sunscreen on your face every day. If you aren’t, it’s counterproductive to be putting all this skincare on your face and then NOT protecting your skin from the sun. Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is a good one to start with. In terms of setting a routine for yourself, I think that reading the Fifty Shades of Snail or Fanserviced-B blog articles about starting a routine/product order is the way to go. Typically - double cleansing, Vit C, hydrating toner, snail, and a serum/moisturizer (and then sunscreen if in the morning) are popular ways to start. But the great thing about AB skincare, is that it’s customizable and you do what works for you. Check things out, read up on different products, and then have a go at it. 👍

I have fair skin and had a few people in my family had to have skin cancer spots removed (we lost my uncle several years ago to brain cancer that had metastasized from skin cancer) so I take it super serious. I regularly get mistaken for being a lot younger (27 seems to be the random number everyone says lol) and I totally contribute it to my dedication to sunscreen. Good genes play a part too, because my mom and grandma don’t look their age at all. I’ll definitely check out the blogs, and may be back with a million and one questions lol.

LaRo422, i'm around your age with combination skin as well-- i started paying more attention to skincare about 6 months ago and realized that my face was starting to look extra tired because my skin was dehydrated. hydrating toners and products with hyaluronic acid are great for improving dehydration and they make your skin look plumper and younger. so i would recommend adding that in as one of your first steps since you mentioned fine lines and a lack of "glow." hada labo gokujun premium lotion (lotion as in asian-style lotion- so a serum-like consistency) has hyaluronic acid in it and is a great product. or you can pat in multiple layers of a watery toner like klairs. i haven't tried the klairs toner yet but everyone seems to love it! after this put on a moisturizer (followed by an oil or sleeping pack if you want) to lock in all the moisture overnight. there are lots of different moisturizer options depending on your preferences. once you know what you're looking for, the ordinary is a great place to order from since their prices are so reasonable. you can get a hyaluronic acid serum from them and they also have different concentrations of retinol serums.

This is a lot of great info. Thank you so much! I can put makeup on and get the glow I want, but there are days I don’t want to fool with my whole face, just fill in my brows a bit, throw on some mascara and gloss, and go. I’m not prone to breakouts or anything, except at the moment (I was in the hospital for a week and didn’t bring my skincare with me... whomp, whomp), so now my skin is in recovery mode and there are dry patches, which I’ve never had. I’m going to order some stuff this weekend. Anyone got any masks they can recommend? Preferably online, because I’ve got some health issues going on that have me stuck at home, and even if I send my husband to the store with pics in hand, he’d mess it up somehow. Unless I can do order online and have it picked up in store. Y’all are awesome. I’m so glad I decided to post. I’ve been wanting to up my skincare game, but didn’t know where to start.

Oooohhhhh helloooo!
I need help. I currently just use gentle, basic wash am and PM, a hyaluronic gel, am and PM, then a retinol cream at night. I'm about to run out of both and I'm just wondering what would be better to switch it up.
Goals: minimize pores, fine lines around eyes. I feel like the retinol had helped the lines a little but does nothing for my pores which end up making my face look blotchy 😕 I also need a moisturizing sunscreen, I use a tinted one now but I never use it on days I'm going to the gym so I need something different.
I need easy and inexpensive too, our money situation is negative some expensive house repairs and job changes so I'm trying to cut where I can 😬

thechickencoop Heyyyyyy! I think there’s some stuff you can add to your routine that won’t break the bank and is easy to get. First, sunscreen - Biore UV Watery Rich Essence is really popular - it is moisturizing and it sits really well under makeup. Another popular option is A’Pieu pure block. There is a cream (orange) and a gel (blue) version of A’Pieu - orange is more moisturizing, and the gel is better for summer/humid climates. www.amazon.com/APIEU-BLOCK-Natural-Cream-SPF45/dp/B00J2Q5MSSI think a vitamin C serum would be good for you too. The Klairs Freshly Juiced Vit C that others have mentioned up thread is popular - my sister uses it and loves it. Vit C is one of the only topical skincare treatments that has been scientifically proven to boost collagen growth, even skin tone, and reduce fine lines. Snail is also something you should add - the Cosrx 96 serum or the Cosrx 92 AIO cream. Mizon black snail cream is also one of my favorites. You can also get into other moisturizers, hydrating toners, prep toners, eye creams, sheet masks, but maybe best to just start by adding a few items and see if that helps you. 👍

thechickencoop I just started using the Biore sunscreen Taitai recommended and I love it! It honestly feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen. I second the snail recommendation too.

I tried samples of two sleeping masks this week- the glow recipe watermelon mask and korres hydra biome. The glow recipe was fine but not a must have to me. The korres though was definite love- my skin felt amazing the next morning.

Just a heads up that you can often find an equivalent ingredient sleep mask from a Korean /Asian company for much cheaper. Even with shipping if you have to order off Jolse or similar.

LaRo422 i'm not a big sheet mask person, but if you search this thread for "sheet mask" there are a ton of suggestions. a lot of stuff is available on amazon. if you want hydrating, look for snail, aloe, hyaluronic acid, or honey as ingredients. you can also get dry sheet masks that you can soak in your own hydrating toner/serum/essence (search "compressed sheet masks" on amazon). or you could opt for a mask that you apply and then wipe off-- just avoid anything with clay in it because that can be very drying. again, consider an occlusive overnight to lock in the moisture. a cheap way to do it is to apply a thin layer of something like aquaphor or cerave healing ointment after your moisturizer (you can mix some of your moisturizer into it in your palm to thin it out a little before applying). thechickencoopyou could try adding in an acid to help minimize the appearance of your pores. salicylic acid (a BHA) penetrates into your pores and can help unclog them. for k beauty there's cosrx's blackhead power liquid but cheaper options are the ordinary's salicylic acid solution or stridex pads. you can apply it to just your areas of concern. or you could try a salicylic acid cleanser if your skin is sensitive. there's also the oft-suggested 50 shades of snail pore-clearing method(sadly it has never worked for me personally)

After I had DS2 I was washing with SA daily, sometimes twice because that kid screwed my skin up but I never noticed a change in my pores. Maybe I'll try again since I'm not crazy Pp hormonal now 🤷♀️

I’ve used the Cosrx BHA for a week now, so I’m going to up it to every other day since my skin was doing well with every three days. Do most people eventually go to every day use or only every other day?

Some are good with twice a week, any more and they react. Others can do daily. Work up to more if you feel the need and watch how your skin responds. If it is super dry or reactive, cut it back or out till it settles. That said, actives (like BHA, AHA) can cause a purge. Mine lasted about a month and then I saw significant improvement. I never purged as I stepped up frequency though.

I started using the Klairs toner after all of my actives Instead of right after washing and it is working well. I also got the cosrx snail 96 serum and it is amazing! I’ve been using it right after the toner and before my night cream, as well as in the morning. So much snail!! Thanks for all the help

vvvvvfee thank you for the mask recs. It gives me a starting off point. I’ve seen snail talk in here and ordered something (can’t remember this early lol), but I’m going to check around for other stuff too. Not a fan of sheet masks either because they’re a pain to keep on my face. I like the apply and wipe off. Taitai I ordered the Klairs toner you recommended and it should be here in a few days. Excited to try it out!

I am also new to the skin care game and was hoping someone would have a recommendation for a deep moisturizer & where to put in in my routine, my skin is super dry to the point that I can’t seem to get ahead of it. I am wondering if my breakouts are because everything is so dry. For price points I would like to keep it in the $20-25 range; Sephora or Amazon preferably as I live in the middle of nowhere. I could get myself to an Ulta if I had too.

I’ve used the Cosrx BHA for a week now, so I’m going to up it to every other day since my skin was doing well with every three days. Do most people eventually go to every day use or only every other day? you're right- it's betaine salicylate, which is milder than salicylic acid (some countries have restrictions on the use of salicylic acid). so it may be less effective but it may be better for someone who is sensitive to acids.
you could work up to daily use if your skin tolerates it well. if you start to get overly dry or start peeling, then back up.
or you could alternate days with an AHA (such as glycolic acid) since they do different things-- AHAs are water-soluble and loosen the "glue" that holds skin cells together, which helps you slough off dead skin, while BHAs are oil soluble and can penetrate into your pores to clean out dead skin and oil.
ETA sorry, this is basically reiterating what asunasword already said! derp

trueblue , cerave pm is a pretty light moisturizer. so you can either try to layer on top of that or swap it out for something heavier. so if you're layering, you could put a sleeping pack on top of the cerave pm, like the laniege. i haven't tried it but i have heard good things about it. i really liked the cosrx rice sleeping mask. a cheap alternative to a sleeping mask is to apply a thin layer of cerave healing ointment or aquaphor or similar to seal in your moisture. you can even mix a little with your moisturizer to thin it out. alternatively, you can apply an oil on top of your moisturizer to act as an occlusive-- for example, rose hip seed oil or marula oil. if you want a richer moisturizer, ceracolla perfect gel is awesome- it's a clear gel but it has collagen and ceramides in it and it is very rich (available on amazon- just pick a seller with a high % positive rating and be aware that the non-prime ones will probably be coming from japan so it may take a few weeks to arrive). or, a lot of people love cerave moisturizing cream (in the tub). are you applying the hada labo to a damp face? hyaluronic acid attracts water, so if you're applying it to dry skin it can actually pull water out of your skin and have a drying effect.
ETA: the glow tonic has glycolic acid in it, which can dry you out, so you might want to back off to using that just a few times a week if you're currently using it every day. you can always add it back in once you have your skin hydrated again.

I was drying my face between washing and the hado labo at night so I will change that up tonight. Hopefully with the sheet masks ss265 suggested I can get ahead of my dryness!
