I have used other Ordinary products and been pleased. The price is right for them.

I’ve only used it a few times but I like the Saem toner. For $6, it is a definite winner! I’m wanting to add in Vit C as my first active. Any advice or recommendations would be welcome! I’m debating between the Vichy 15% (can buy locally, but pricier) or the Tiem My Signature C (higher %, cheaper, but have to buy online and could potentially oxidize in transit). I have shipped a few different Vit C and had no issues with oxidizing in transit. That said, I can't get through a bottle any size before it does oxidize. I am going to look at a powder next time. I know the Tiam comes highly recommended. I personally use the klairs. I started with this as I had very used Vit C and wanted to be sure my face wouldn't react first. This one? [KLAIRS] Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop, 5% pure vitamin C, vitamin C serum, 35ml, 1.18oz www.amazon.com/dp/B010FOFSH0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0sSFDb3HSHE0Q

Anyone have a rec for a Vit C serum $20 or under? Or are all the good ones more than that? ETA: you guys didn’t like the Ordinary one right? I really like the klairs freshly juiced. It was a good starting point for adding in Vit C and I saw results in the first week on some of my darker spots. It's a bit over $20 at $22.50 on Amazon. www.amazon.com/KLAIRS-Freshly-Juiced-Vitamin-vitamin/dp/B010FOFSH0I know Taitai, really likes the Tiam Vit C if you have used one in the past.

I placed an order for the Tiam Signature C and the Cosrx BHA. The vit C is set to arrive a week after the BHA, so that should give me time to start that one first and then add in the vit C.. I also got some Biore sunscreen.

I like the T’iam, and I’ve never had issues with it oxidizing while in transit. As long as the seal isn’t broken, it should have a shelf life of 1-2 years, and I find that jolse does a good job of packaging it well when shipping. I love how cheap and effective it is.

I use it. It’s great! I’d buy off of the Ordinary website or Sephora, though. It’s cheaper - only $7.20. Ulta now carries The Ordinary as well.

I guess I go here now; I’m coming from Royals board. Since I’m lucky if I wash my face at night, this is going to be interesting but I’m not young anymore and I have to start doing something skin wise. I’m going to start reading this thread and get back to you with questions

I’ve been debating buying the cosrx snail 96 on amazon due to mixed reviews on shipping but it’s cheaper there so I think I’m going to take the gamble.
Hold up, I can get it on Walmart.com with the Klairs Vit c
UPDATE: Snail and C heading my way. I’m so excited! Snail me up!

i have used it a few times (you're only supposed to use it 1x per week) and i can't really tell if it's doing anything yet. it is very strong, though- my skin is pretty tolerant of actives, but if yours isn't or if you haven't really used actives before i would be careful. i would def patch test first. also it's recommended you leave it on no more than 10 minutes, so you might want to start out with 5 minutes and see how it goes.
also +whatever to don't buy it on amazon. you can get free shipping on their website with $35+.

Hi everyone! I recently started an actual skin care regimen. I’m noticing some results, especially with texture and evenness. Now I’d like to add some snail mucin. I just ordered the COSRX 96 and I’m not sure when to apply it. Currently my pm routine is: -Wash with Banila clean it zero, then cetaphil (I have a ton of this and may switch when it runs out but it will be a long time). -tone with Klairs supple toner - Sunday Riley Luna night oil - Sunday Riley ceo vit c - Sunday Riley good genes - moisturizer (currently using fresh nighttime lotus cream)
I’m thinking the snail mucin goes after the good genes, right before the moisturizer?? Does that sound right? Thanks in advance for any tips!

I am a newbie myself so take this as just my thoughts, but based on my reading I’d suggest this order: Double cleanse Actives (Vit c and good genes) Toner Snail mucin Night oil Moisturizer Also, I use my snail mucin both am/pm after toner. I love it SO much!

jayhawk thanks! The night oil has retinoids in it, if that makes any difference? The brand’s instructions say to layer those three products (that one, then vit C, then good genes) in that particular order, but it probably doesn’t take into account all the other products people may use with them. I’m so confused about the toner too. Some places say to use it right after the double cleanse, some have it where you put it. Whatever I’m doing now is so much better than the nothing I was doing before though!

coffee, ah yes, that does make a difference- then the oil would be an “active” too. So you could use those three products in the order they tell you after cleansing and then do toner, snail mucin, moisturizer. But there are others much more knowledgeable than I who might know better!

coffee, your PM routine is pretty full with multiple actives (retinoid, vit c, lactic acid). What does your AM routine look like?

But there are others much more knowledgeable than I who might know better! coffee - Yep, jayhawk’s advice is spot on. If Sunday Riley says to use the products in that order, then I’d follow their advice. However - just as an FYI, actives are typically put on in the order of Vit C —> BHA —> AHA —> Retinol —> prescription meds. The reason for the order is PH, but honestly, if you switch it up a bit, it’s not a big deal. For your toner question - hydrating toners (like Klairs) go on after actives. Clarifying toners (like the Mizon AHA/BHA prep toner I use) go on immediately after double cleansing, and before actives. The reason for this is that a clarifying toner is like an extension of the cleansing step, and a prep toner lowers the PH of your skin, to prepare it for actives. Hydrating toners don’t clean, they don’t lower PH, so you use them after actives. Hope that helps!

Thank you all for the responses! I will switch the order of the toner and see how that feels. It’s so confusing still. The bottle says it’s to “prepare” the skin, but it also boasts hydration. I wasn’t sure what type of toner it was (but I like the way it makes my skin feel). I got the snail mucin today and used it before my moisturizer. I’m excited to use it tomorrow when my face isn’t so full of oils/creams/serums!

ArielMermaid, so exciting, I hope you love the snail mucin! I’m eager to hear how you like the Vit C too, I ended up canceling my vit C order and I’m thinking of starting with a lower concentration like in the Klairs version (I think that is the one you ordered, right?). As for me, my COSRX BHA came yesterday so I used it for the first time last night. I’m planning to just use it every 3 days right now while my skin adjusts. And I looove the Biore sunscreen— it feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen!

My last Vit C serum broke me out in tiny zits everywhere when I used it so I never saw any(good) difference from it. I just ordered the Biore sunscreen today!

I did a test patch of each just to make sure. It would be my luck to be allergic to one or both some how!
From what I gather, the Vit C comes before the Snail 96?
The plan: Cetaphil Cleanse Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner Vit C Cosrx Snail 96 Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream
Is that a good order?
I plan to add more K beauty to the routine as things run out.
I do have the Biore Sunscreen coming so I'll add that at the end.

The Thayers toner has clarifying and hydrating properties, so it’s a coin toss on whether you want to put it before or after the Vit C. I personally would probably put it after - just because I like the Vit C to go on first and do its “work” on my clean skin, but that’s just me. The order you have is just fine! 👍

Ok, so I’m new here and just started posting in the blinds a few weeks ago and I think this thread got mentioned over there or something. I clicked on it and saw it was 40 pages long 😳 I got to about page 5 or 6 and realized there’s probably a lot newer stuff y’all have tried and can recommend.
I’m 36 with normal to combo skin. I’ve got some fine lines on my forehead, 11s, slight crows feet, and just need to bring the glow back to my natural face. I’ve read about snail stuff, oil/double cleansing, etc, so I’m not a complete newbie, but I’m just getting into anti aging stuff. I can’t really afford a derm right now (other recent health diagnosis taking priority) but I’d like to really focus on my skin. I’ve been using gentle and low PH cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I used to subscribe to a ton of beauty boxes, but got overwhelmed with products and a bunch went unused. I love a good face mask. I’m open to trying new cleaners and toners and really intrigued by the oil/double cleansing. I haven’t read the Reddit thread on getting the grit out, but I have the link saved.
So my question is, where would you start? I eventually want to get into retinol and all that, but I figured it would be best to start with some good, budget friendly basics.
