Sheet masks, sleeping packs, essences, ampoules, facial mists...Sulwhasoo, Etude House, Sheseido, Innisfree, Skinfood...multi-step routines, double cleansing, cushion foundations.... Anyone else in to k-beauty/asian beauty stuff? If so, what brands/products do you like? Anything you've tried and hated? What does your routine look like? ETA: fun pic

I'm trying to get my hands on Goodal Natural Clear Mild Peeling Gel. I saw it demonstrated on some show and it looks awesome.

Cher I'm a fan of Goodal in general. The Moisture Barrier Liquid is currently on my shopping list - I think it will work well for my dehydrated skin. The peeling gel looks good too - I'd imagine it would be a nice exfoliator.

Alright....this is going to be embarrassing of how much crap I've acquired since getting into this stuff. I blame 2 family vacations to Jeju and Busan, Korea for my obsession....
Sulwhasoo - this brand is $$$, but the products are amazing. Seriously, my skin has improved so much after using some of the products. I don't have to wear as much makeup anymore, and even DH/my family back in the states have been surprised (positively) when they've seen my skin without foundation. Some favorites: -Perfecting foundation cushion; amazing finish, everyone should try a cushion foundation. Rocked my world. -Overnight Revitalizing Mask -First Care Activating Serum -Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream -Hydro-aid Moisturizing Soothing Mist
Skinfood: - I like the black sugar scrub and the black sugar cleansing oil - Wash off rice mask is a great gentle exfoliator too, I'm a big fan
Naruko: -love their sheet masks. The snail ones are really good, as are the rose ones
The History of Whoo: -Ja Saeng Essence - it hurts to buy this, but my skin is noticeably better in the morning after I use this. It just looks more "alive"...if that makes sense.
There's other stuff...but these are my faves right now.
*Tip - for high end Asian beauty stuff, the full size of these products are pricey, but if you buy samples off of Amazon, it's so much cheaper and a great way to test out a product.

Some stuff I haven't liked:
Skinfood egg white pore cleanser - really dried out my skin.
Missha source cell sheet mask - horrible. Weird fit, dried out quickly, made my skin red.
Innisfree it's real squeeze masks. These are hugely popular on Amazon. They're meh for me. They are fine in a pinch, but there are so many other better options like My Beauty Diary, Naruko, Papa Recipe Bombee, etc.

I have the Mizon snail recovery gel on my shopping list, and I wasn't sure about the snail cream. Do you find it very heavy? I live in such a humid environment that I always worry about creams breaking me out or clogging pores.

I live in such a humid environment that I always worry about creams breaking me out or clogging pores. The recovery gel (I forgot to mention I also have that one) wasn't hydrating enough for me. I have very dry skin, even in humid conditions, which is why I tend to stick to the cream as one layer of moisture and add more afterward (which I've seen recommended for dryer skin types). I don't find it heavy at all. I've heard Mizon Black All in One is supposed to be much more hydrating, with more ingredients focused on moisture, so I'd stay away from that one in your case and try out the normal all in one. ETA: I will mention, in case your skin is sensitive, that the normal all in one does contain alcohol. If I'm remembering correctly, neither the Mizon Black All in One nor the snail recovery gel contain alcohol.

otters Thanks so much for the info! I tend to do okay with products that have alcohol in them, so I might give that cream a try for nighttime, when I'm in A/C anyways. Or for when I travel to drier climates. I have dehydrated combination skin, so it can be a pain to predict what will break me out here in Southeast Asia. When I go back to the states, however, my skin gets soooooo dry. I have to use a sleeping pack every single night or my skin will actually crack. So tricky! P.S. I love your avatar. That is one of my favorite gifs ever!

Taitai, Thanks! Part of me wishes I could move somewhere more humid because my skin would love it (although my hair wouldn't). Hopefully the cream doesn't break you out!

I tried this for the first time last night and really liked it. It’s different- you have to use a magnet to get the mask off, but it left my skin feeling clean and soft, but not stripped, like there was something in the mask (a moisturizer or something) that stayed on my skin after I pulled the mask off. www.ulta.com/ulta/a/_/Ntt-magnetight/Nty-1?Dy=1&ciSelector=searchResults&cmpid=PS_Non!google!PrestSkin_DrBrandt&cawelaid=330000200001302672&catrk=spfid-1&caagid=39769915884&catci=kwd-366069444924&capcid=212328601405&cadevice=m&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi7qkpr3m2AIVFLXACh2PZgUOEAAYASAAEgKvGfD_BwE

Ok, and I recently started oil cleansing, and I don’t love it or I don’t get it or something. I used to use a makeup wipe and then follow it with an Olay scrubber and Origins checks and balances. Now I’m doing the oil cleanse and then the origins. It feels like the oil cleansing takes longer and I haven’t seen any noticeable changes.

I thought it was pointless at first, but then once I regularly started getting gritty stuff out of my face from it - I was hooked! I noticed after a while it lessened the appearance of sebaceous filaments on my nose/chin as well. Which oil cleanser are you using?

Oooh! I like multi-step masks! Adding the first one to my wish list. I've also heard good things about A. by BOM. Adding that one too. The magnetic mask you mentioned looks cool too - is the appeal that it really gets into your pores? I have combination skin with a past or hormonal acne, so I'm always paranoid about clogging my pores.

Taitai, I have not gotten any grits from the oil cleansing, and because I am a disgusting human being, I was really looking forward to that. I’ll check the brand and tell you. I’m not sure of the purpose and the magnetic mask. I got in a sample gift thing Sephora was selling at Christmas and last night was the first time I tried it. My pores did feel clean, and you know how sometimes clay and charcoal masks make your skin feel overly dry? This didn’t do that. It felt so soft and moist after, but I have no clue what causes that.

Brand is Etude House. I’m open to trying a different brand, if you have a rec. That was well rated and relatively inexpensive.

That sounds really interesting about the magnetic mask. I'm going to see if they have anything like that out here. I hate how clay masks tend to dry my skin and cause redness.

Taitai, thanks for the tips. I read both of them, and I am excited to try. I also look at both products online, and then realized that Costco is now carrying the Banila, so I want to try that. I also started looking at K beauty subscription boxes. I have always been, shall we say, prone to excess in product acquisition, so I definitely don’t NEED anything, but I keep buying stuff because I love skincare, and I always want the next new thing. I have a couple of friends who are into it, too, and we share stuff around, which simultaneously makes the problem better and worse.

thisbitch I'm so glad the country where I live doesn't really do online shopping/e-commerce, which prevents me from being able to get subscription beauty boxes. If I was in the states or in Korea...it would be way too tempting. I think it's awesome you share with your friends - sounds like a good way to try more things without having to commit to purchasing. Have you tried a Sulwhasoo product yet? There are samples on Amazon (which is the most cost reasonable way to check out the brand imo). Be careful if you start down the Sulwhasoo path though...so addicting and so $$$ 😭. The products are amazeballs though.

Taitai, thanks! I ordered a sample set from Amazon. Excited to try it. What country are you in, if you don’t mind me asking? PM. If you want, for privacy reasons. I also ordered the Banila and a Whamisa spray essence thing. Have you tried any of the entia masks? They’re not readily available here, but I like the ones I have gotten hold of.

I'm in Thailand - the land of smiles without Internet shopping...hahaha. Happy you got the Banila! I really like the Whamisa organic flowers skin toner - it smells so good! Hope you like the spray essence. My dad is actually coming here for a visit next week, and he's bringing some entia meringue cloud masks along. So excited to try them out! DH got them for me as a Christmas present and had them shipped to my Dad, so he could schlep them over here. I'll let you know how I like them once I can try.

My Sulwhasoo kit came today. I can’t wait to try it. Also, I have a 20% off code for Facetory that’s good through the end of this month, if you’re interested in ordering masks from them. No pressure, they have masks that are hard to get here. They also always offer 10% off your first order.
