I just looked up the K-beauty routine, I was doing most of it on my own except for the double cleansing. If I can remember to clean my face every night, it's a miracle. I'm adding it to my habit tracker this week to see if I can do it more regularly. I don't wear a ton of makeup, so a quick toner and night cream is basically all I do now. I found a habit tracker very useful at the beginning of my skincare journey. It also helps me track alternating exfoliant days.

I apologize in advance for what are probably dumb questions. Your questions are not dumb. Yes, use the sunscreen as the final step of your beauty routine and before you put on primer/foundation etc. So it's usually right after moisturizer. If I could pick only one snail product, I would use the Cosrx snail serum/power essence (linked below at Ulta) - @karenwalker - jinx! I posted this before I read your post. www.ulta.com/advanced-snail-96-mucin-power-essence?productId=xlsImpprod15641052&sku=2504912&cmpid=PS_Non!google!Product_Listing_Ads&cagpspn=pla&CATCI=aud-401071094345:pla-459819642468&CAAGID=41574836298&CAWELAID=330000200001098678&CATARGETID=330000200001464268&cadevice=c&gclid=CjwKCAjw8NfrBRA7EiwAfiVJpZUdBf0omTylp7mxMR4sg3IeEv9CsVA4g4_jxXcS1FI8jFmfU8_swhoCqO4QAvD_BwE

@karenwalker, I'm about to finish my Biore water essence sunscreen and I would like to try the A’pieu sunscreen. Do you use the one in the orange tube? The link below on Amazon has three different types - not sure why the orange one is half the price of the others. www.amazon.com/APIEU-BLOCK-Natural-Cream-SPF45/dp/B00J2Q5MSS

I use the orange one. I love it! I will say I have dry skin and lean hard into the dewy look. If that’s not your speed, you may not like it. Well with winter upon us (counting the days, I live in TX and it's in the high 90s today), it might be good for me. I also run outside so I need a good moisturizing sunscreen to protect me from the cold winter air. I'll try it - thanks for the rec!

The blue is more of a gel, and I like that for when I’m home in the tropics. When I am in colder/drier regions (like Japan or the us midwest), I go for the orange one 👍

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the helpful information!
I have a gigantic pump of Cetaphil to use up, but once I do I think I’ll switch over to CeraVe or something else.
Since I’m new to both double cleansing and snail products, I’m going to try to be disciplined and introduce only one new thing at a time (maybe do the double cleansing for a week or so and then add the snail). It’s going to take all my willpower though because I am seriously itching to start the snail!

I generally don’t wear foundation. Just mascara. Do I still double cleanse?

I generally don’t wear foundation. Just mascara. Do I still double cleanse? Yup. The double cleanse is to get your face super clean for the products you are going to use on it, not so much to remove makeup. Your skin is exposed to the environment during the day and the double cleanse gets all that stuff off.

Another Royal thread person, what would you recommend for hydration while Flying 12 hours on a plane? I use three things. A wipe if I need to remove gunk, a mist to hydrate (I use this a lot) and steam eye masks. Innisfree makes a nice mist. If you have sensitive skin, check the ingredients. @karenwalker, might have a good rec here. The steam eye masks are Kao brand.

Dumb question: are the snails fine to use while breastfeeding do you think? I am not a doctor, so you can always double check this with a medical professional, but I think it’s absolutely safe - there are no active ingredients in snail that you need to worry about for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Most doctors even believe now that topical skincare application doesn’t really have enough impact to affect anything while pregnant/breastfeeding, so many doctors say it’s fine to use retinol, BHA, AHA during those times. I personally held off on the retinol until after breastfeeding, but that was just me being extra safe.

Dumb question: are the snails fine to use while breastfeeding do you think? If you are worried check with your doc. That said, I started with KB while breastfeeding and mine only said to be careful with acids (skin tends to be more reactive) and no retinol. If you are like me and extend your skincare regimen to your decolletage, ingestion is a no go for pretty much every product. Some of these take awhile to sink in, significantly longer than I was used which may be why they work so well. But having a teething baby on my shoulder right after my skincare fun was not a good idea.

Looking for a KB make up req if anyone has one.... I am looking for a decent cushion for sensitive skin.
I don't wear as much make up now but it would be nice to have the option of something good for my skin when I do want to.

I was so confused - well if she's putting product on her chest, how is she ingesting it? Obviously it's been a while since I had to deal with a newborn.

Clinique (I know, not AB) also makes a hydrating mist. I don't know if you need to get anything special - just use your normal night time moisturizer and reapply once during the flight. When I fly to Asia, I like to wash my face, brush my teeth and reapply moisturizer and makeup half way through the flight, makes me feel much better but that's usually a 24 hour journey.

I'm highly intrigued by what you are all doing. At 37 I feel like I really need to get a grip on my skin before it goes down hill! (I've been relying on my little bit of melanin and genetics to get by LOL) I have sensitive skin, and combination T-zone skin. My skin is highly reactive to change. I'm also a swimmer/swim instructor. (Warm humid air when on deck, drying chemicals in water, and New England cold winters) I'm wondering if you could make a newbie thread or point to a newbie post that would help explain some things. I've tried pinterest and am just overwhelmed by all the information. I currently wash after swimming or in the shower every morning. I use a toner (which I didn't know I used until yesterday!?!) and moisturize with a combination moisturizer and sunscreen. Everything I have is Elemis from my Disney cruises. It's easy to order and now Ulta carries them. But I know little to nothing beyond that!
What do you do when you're busy? With all the videos I've seen should you wait in between each layer? how does that not clog your pores? is the biggest routine done at night? or are you doing all these twice a day?

Thank you! I'm not too worried, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something obvious I was missing. This all looks fun!

Cheshie6 , if you go back to the beginning and read through this thread you will learn a ton! you can also check out the asian beauty community on reddit-- here are links to basic info about skincare and asian beauty/routine order: www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/wiki/new_user_guidewww.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/wiki/theabroutinehere's the routine order in image formskincare addiction on reddit also has a ton of info. you definitely do not have to do all the steps!! and go slowly adding in one product at a time so you can make sure you're not reacting to anything. you can also do an AB style routine with all western products. i am your age with combination skin and also live in new england. this is what i do right now: morning: rinse face with water wipe face with micellar water on cotton pad vitamin c serum (antioxidant, brightener, supposedly helps boost the effectiveness of sunscreen) moisturizer sunscreen evening: double cleanse (oil cleanser followed by regular cleanser) active (alternating between AHA and BHA- these are both chemical exfoliants) moisturizing toner (different than american style toners- they are like a watery moisturizer) serum (deliver specific ingredients that are targeted to help with various things- soothing/reducing redness, adding moisture, brightening, etc.) moisturizer sleeping pack (has occlusive ingredients to lock the moisture into your skin overnight) ETA: also a lip sleeping mask
there is some argument about whether it's necessary to wait after applying active ingredients (AHA, BHA vit c, etc.)- if i have a little time i'll wait before applying the next later, but usually i just wait a few seconds for each layer to absorb before going on to the next. RE swimming, i would guess that you might want to use extra moisturizer or an occlusive such as aquaphor to keep your skin from drying out from the chlorine.

I have a random vitamin C serum from amazon and it breaks me out. I’m hesitant to buy another because of that.

Anyone have a face mask they love that I can buy on Prime?

ArielMermaid, there are quite a few different vitamin C formulations out there ( more details) so you could try a different type. the ordinary has really inexpensive range of different types of vitamin C products. also if the serum has turned brown that means it has oxidized and isn't good to use anymore.

Any thoughts on Pixi double cleanse set? i haven't used it, but i don't think that's a particularly good value. you could get a full size bottle of both oil cleanser AND regular cleanser for approx $20.
for instance:
or
(~$10 ea)

Any thoughts on Pixi double cleanse set? I’ve never tried it, but the pH is good! Tracy, from fabserviced B has a good review on it. What stands out to me is it’s a bit small. For me, I try to go more budget on my cleansers and spend more on acids/creams etc. but it definitely looks good. 👍 www.fanserviced-b.com/pixi-caroline-hirons-double-cleanse-review/I was thinking to try it and if the double cleaning at night works, then branch out! Does that make sense?

So my snail mucin ended up coming a few days before my cleansing oil is set to arrive, so I think I’m going to try that out first and then add in double cleansing. I’m too impatient to wait!
On the nights that you sheet mask, do you do the mask after all your other products and before moisturizing?

On the nights that you sheet mask, do you do the mask after all your other products and before moisturizing? I sheet mask after my essences/serums, but before moisturizers/creams. I find that the sheet mask helps seal all the hydrating layers in that way. I also leave my sheet masks on for like 40 min (if they don’t dry out), just because I like sucking all the essence out of them! My face is so thirsty 🤣

I don't wear as much make up now but it would be nice to have the option of something good for my skin when I do want to. This is $$$, but I love love Sulwhasoo’s evenfair perfecting cushion. It’s not a very heavy coverage, and it has a solid lasting power. Also, sightly dewy (but not too much), which suits my tastes. IOPE and Laneige make a good cushion, as does Hera. I’ve tried both, and they are much more reasonable from a price perspective. IOPE also has a peach sherbet cushion blush that is HG for me. IOPE invented the cushion, so if Sulwhasoo is not up your alley, I would check out IOPE first! www.amazon.com/CUSHION-BLUSHER-new-2019-03-peach-orange/dp/B07PYSP35R/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=iope+cushion+blush&qid=1568207858&s=gateway&sr=8-3ETA - one thing to add is that cushions normally come with a refill too - so if you have sticker shock from the price tag, make sure to check and see if there is a refill included.
