I also like the Ordinary granactive retinoid in squarlane solution. And the Murula Oil, which is 1/10th the cost of the drunk elephant version (both are 100% cold pressed virgin oil) These are both on my list to try this year! I’m starting to get 11’s and a line on my forehead, so I think it’s time to start the anti-aging treatments... I have...3 lines on my forehead. I blame 10 years worth of high school students saying insane things so I was constantly making an 🤨 face. I’ll be testing out the anti-aging things with you!

emma I’m a big fan of L-AA, and I go for the 20% concentration- which may be too much for some people. But it is really effective for me (and inexpensive). I use T’iam C Source. You should be able to get it on EBay or jolse.com or wishtrend for around $15/bottle. Mine lasts me 3 months if I store it in the fridge with foil wrapped around it.

Quoting myself... they are comparable in the results they give me but not in the ingredients or consistency. DE is more gel like.

Ok so I looked up all the recs.... then ordered Paula’s Choice. It was $40 cheaper than DE but still not a bargain. I’ll report back on how I like it

I'm kind of interested in these vitamin c recs. I've been using skinceuticals, but ran out and i'm having a hard time spending the $ again. I have the DE c firma from the littles set, and it's okay, but I see a noticeable difference in my skin (not in a good way) compared to the skinceuticals. meh.
I recently ditched my eltaMD sunscreen (derm recommended) because I suspected it was clogging my pores, and i was so right! i've been using tatcha and LOVE IT, but i'd definitely like something cheaper next time. anyone care to weigh in on the suncreen recs and which ones are best for those of us with clog prone pores? THANKS!

Thank you! Yes I do - I’ve used the Tatcha cleansing oil, and right now I’m using up some Clinique take the day off balm, but same idea. Even doing that, the eltamd was clogging my pores. I’ll definitely try one of these next time. The Tatcha sunscreen is like $65...way too much.

There are 2 types, the uv defense gel and the up defense cream. Both are SPF 50, the gel would probably be better for clog probed skin. On glow recipe they are like $32 for 75ml, but if you search on ebay or amazon, you can find them in the $23-$25 range. www.ebay.com/p/Make-Prem-UV-Defense-Me-Blue-Ray-Sun-GEL-SPF-50-PA-75ml/761224742www.glowrecipe.com/products/make-prem-blue-ray-sun-gel

Anyone have a hand cream they love? This weather is killing my hands, they are so dry and cracked. I’ve tried so many different kinds, nothing is really helping.

Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care with Baobab oil. I’ve tried a million things and that’s the best. I use moisturizing gloves at night in the winter, too.

I loose this Japanese hand cream from Kyoto. You can find it on eBay - but it’s like $20 a tube. In Japan, it’s like $10. Maybe you could find it on a Japanese site? It’s called Kyoto Yojiya Mayugomori Hand cream. The best. www.ebay.com/p/Kyoto-YOJIYA-MAYUGOMORI-Skin-Care-Hand-Cream-Tube-Type-30g-From-Japan/1531536733I also love Aveda Hand Relief. It would always do the trick for me.

Guise.
The Case Full of Seoul is on sale at Costco.com right now for 49.99. Totally worth it considering that just one product (the One O Seven Core Flex essential liquid) is $62.00 on its own. That’s a great product.
The May Coop raw sauce, URANG rose essence, and IWULT masks, sunscreen and primer are not HG, but they are really lovely, too.
The other items I could totally live without, but this is a good value.

Not really sure if this belongs here but I'm too intimidated to start a thread.
Are there certain ingredients in skin care I should be avoiding while breastfeeding? My skin is so dry but I don't know what is considered okay to use.

You should definitely consult a doctor and double check with them, but there aren’t a ton of skincare ingredients that doctors recommend avoiding while breastfeeding. The reason is because the topical application on the skin has minimal transfer to the bloodstream/breastmilk. However, I have heard of some doctors recommending avoidance of the following while breastfeeding: -Retinoids -BHA -AHA -Sunscreen that contains oxybenzone I am breastfeeding my 15 month old, and my doctor told me it was safe to use AHA and BHA , so I am doing BHA now (2% salicylic acid). I am going to hold off on retinoids until I wean DS2, but that’s just me.

So I’ve been using the Paula’s Choice Vit C for about a week and I love it. I have seen a huge reduction it some acne scarring that I never saw with the Drunk Elephant C Firma and the PC one smells so much better.
But on a down note I don’t think I can use oils cleanser. I’d been using a Caudalie one which is sweet almond and grape seed oil (definitely no mineral oil) and after 3 weeks I started getting really bad acne on my cheeks again like when I was using the Kose oil. I stopped using it and my skin cleared up completely. So I think I’m going to have to stick with micellar water from now on

I think micellar water is a fantastic alternative, still works to gently remove makeup and sunscreen. 👍

I’ve read the majority of the thread and 50 Shades of Snails to try and prevent identical request # 377 asking for recommendations... but... I need help. I think I may have read too much and I can’t make any decisions. I have no less than 17 things spread across online shopping carts at Amazon, Sephora, HauteLook, and ULTA. I scraping the bottom of my current moisturizer and face wash, so it would definitely be nice if I could get it together and pick anything!
I’m not sure what type of skin I have since the baby. My prior routine was to strip as much oil and dry it out as much as possible. Now I have drier skin, but not dry skin? I have a wicked line running across my forehead and a smile line on one side that drive me nuts. Probably way too many WTF eyebrow raises. And the blackhead/filament things, those would be my main concerns. Otherwise I’d love for my makeup to look better. It doesn’t look nice regardless of the brand, formula, or type of primer I use.

Do you think you need makeup help, or is it that you think your skin is in bad shape and making your products sit on your skin in a way that’s unflattering? I’ve tweaked my routine a ton over the last couple years and I’ve arrived on a program that has been amazing (thanks to this thread, in large part). Here goes: AM: - CosRX low ph good morning cleanser - One application of Klairs unscented supple prep toner - TruNaturals Vitamin C with Hyaluronic acid - Mizon black snail all in one cream (If I’m leaving the house, I use the Japanese NIVEA gel sunscreen or IWULT sunscreen) PM: - Innisfree apple seed cleansing oil - CoxRx low ph cleansing gel - 7 applications of Klairs toner - Curology (contains Niacinimide, tretinoin, and azelaic acid) - CosRX hyaluronic acid moisturizer - MCK sleeping pack I have a few dozen other products I probably need to cull, but the items I like and use when I need my skin to look 100% that day or the next are the One O Seven Core Flex fluid, CosRX galactomyces, and Ordinary EGCG eye cream. IME, these are nice but not totally necessary for a daily routine. I also use a sheet mask 2-3 times a week. So the things that have drastically improved my skin are definitely the double cleansing, 7 skin method, Curology, hyaluronic acid, And snail cream. I was getting some 11s, and doing 7 skin method has really softened up everything that needed smoothing and plumping. Curology helped with my sebaceous filaments, and the snail cream and HA have easily taken a couple years off of my face in just a few months of every day use.

Re: makeup, I’m 36 and found that I look better with lighter face makeup as I get older. Heavier formulations sink into wrinkles and age me.
I have been really happy with the IWULT primer, IT Cosmetics CC cream, and Pacifica concealer.
On the rare occasion I use foundation, I like Too Faced Born This Way, but I mix the tiniest dab of Cerave with it and then set with a Laura Mercier powder.

Personally I have seen the best results to my skin type and problems with snail and niacin products, I was already using moisturizer with HA and that would definitely help your lines. Can you describe your routine now? Do you wear makeup every? Are you currently using any products that you really like? And I know how it feels to have your skin change after having kids, it's really hard!

cagoldi thank you! I’m always open to makeup suggestions, I do feel like I’ve tried it all at this point though. I do wear full makeup 5-6 days/week. Currently using a Nars foundation with a benefit mattefying primer and tarte pore smoothing primer on my nose maybe about 50% of the time. Morphe setting spray. I just got done with a MAC CC cream and Estee Lauder Double Wear with a silicone based primer. With my current set up and prior, I feel like everything breaks up? I have the hardest time describing it. I’m assuming at this point that I need to give my makeup a better foundation. I enjoy makeup and like to wear it. But I’ll go without on the weekends if we aren’t doing anything special. I agree with the lighter foundations. I’ve been trying to keep it lighter, less matte and think it offers some improvement. I’m also realistic, and ok with the fact that it won’t look perfect at 4 in the afternoon when I leave work since I get ready at 4:30 in the morning! I really do think I could stand to improve the texture if possible.

Maybe pick up a smaller tub of my current moisturizer to keep that consistent for a while in addition to keeping my same toner until I run out? Then add in the COSRX blackhead power liquid? After that, idk. I’m currently using some random face wash, maybe Olay? I use Thayer’s for a toner and neutrogena hydro boost for lotion. I recently started using exfoliKate maybe once a week and the silver powder (Mario Badescue?) maybe also once a week? I like that for the immediate results, but it never seems lasting. Pretty much all I really like right now is the Marmonde lip mask! Haha!

fancy if you are looking for a new cleanser the CorsRX Good Morning Low PH cleanser gets a lot of love here (because it’s amazing) so I’d definitely recommend trying that. At a bare minimum I’d recommend looking to incorporate double cleansing, vitamin C serum, moisturizer, and sun screen. And if you’re feeling bold add some 🐌

I love the mizon snail foaming cleasner, it makes my skin really clean and because it has some snail in it I feel like it I'm getting some moisturizering and healing too. I also love the mizon snail ampoule and manyo factory galactomyces special treatment essence niacin. Both do a great job with my problem areas that are redness, texture, and hormonal dryness/pimples.
