I’m happy to report that my skin has adjusted pretty well to the introduction of BHA in my routine (I am using the PC 2% salicylic acid BHA). I am now up to daily use - but I only put the BHA on my nose, forehead, and chin/jaw line. If I put it on my cheeks, it burns, and I think that it would be too much with the T’iam C Source 20% L-AA I already use on a daily basis.
Since starting the BHA, I’ve noticed reduced SF on my nose, softer/smoother skin, and some deep clogs have come out. Very excited to have gotten rid of some little bumps that had been bothering me for a while.
I do have to use more moisturizing layers at night to compensate for the BHA, since I don’t want to reduce my daily L-AA use. The cosrx propolis ampoule might be helping here, as well as the laneige water sleeping pack.
I’m trying to be careful not to over exfoliate and screw up my moisture barrier. Fingers crossed it keeps going well! 🤞

Taitai, thanks for the review! Trying a BHA (gulp) is on my skincare 2019 bucket list. My skin is just so sensitive I’m petrified of making it worse. But that acne...my gosh! I’m currently using PHA and it’s helped, so it realllly makes me want to try BHA and see if I can get actually get clear skin. I’m thinking the Cosrx BHA powerliquid? This may be the push I need to go for it! I think if you have sensitive skin and want to do a BHA, you should definitely try the Cosrx one. It is not as strong as the PC, and I’ve heard it’s just as effective. I have it on my list of BHA’s to try once I finish PC. I’d recommend starting slow. I first did BHA like once every 3-4 days and gradually worked up to daily use. Maybe just trying with acne problem areas would help too? Good luck if you go for it!

This may be the push I need to go for it! I have found the Cosrx BHA to be very gentle. My moisture barrier is sensitive and it doesn't bother me. I now use it almost daily as a spot treatment on my nose, chin, tops of my checks. Basically where I have large pores and get SF/blackhead like clogs. It doesn't work as fast as some of the stronger BHAs, but I prefer that I can use it daily. I really think it's why my pores appear smaller and the daily treatment works great as a preventive. I've been using it for 3 years and I credit it to being part of why I am more comfortable in my skin. I've always dealt with acne, but my skin is now to the point where I notice a breakout because it's unusual instead of the norm. I think I started using it every other day to start and then moved up to daily after the initial purging stopped after a month. The purging wasn't awful, but I could feel more grits when I oil cleansed and had a few small whitehead on my nose which isn't normal for me.

I tried one of my Christmas present hydrogel masks from Whamisa last night - the Organic seeds and rice one. Overall - it was a nice experience. The hydrogel mask comes in two pieces (one for top of face - eyes/forehead/nose, one for bottom of face - chin/jaw). The two pieces made for a really nice fit, and I generally like how cooling and fresh hydrogels feel when using them. My skin felt hydrated when I took it off, but not as plump as after a regular sheet mask from Naruko or MBD. Next morning my skin looked nice - no breakouts or creases from my pillow (which happens when my skin isn’t properly hydrated). One thing I didn’t like was that little tiny pieces of the mask stuck to my jaw and forehead/hair line when I took it off. I couldn’t feel the pieces when I got up in the morning, but it was kind of unfortunate. The masks are pricey (like $6.50 each), so they are definitely more to be used as a special treat. DH gave me 6 of them, so I’m going to save the other 5 for spa nights for myself. www.amazon.com/Whamisa-Organic-Fermented-Hydrogel-PACKAGING/dp/B0774BK9R3?th=1&psc=1

I have been slowly working my way into the AB world, I'm masking like a pro, using a seven step system, double cleansing like a boss...I haven't ventured too far into the product side. I worked through this thread adding things to my amazon wishlist. But I'm curious, for my first real purchase I am looking for a moisturizer for sensitive, dry skin. Any AB suggestions, I can get through amazon??

I worked through this thread adding things to my amazon wishlist. But I'm curious, for my first real purchase I am looking for a moisturizer for sensitive, dry skin. Any AB suggestions, I can get through amazon?? I love the mizon AIO black snail repair cream. It’s marketed as a cream, but it’s very light and sinks in well without leaving shine. It has snail in it, which I imagine is good for skin repair - on top of the moisturizing part. No scent either, which is good since fragrances can irritate. Price is good at $16.99 www.amazon.com/Mizon-Black-Snail-Cream-Facial/dp/B00ENZHXEOAnother option is the Cosrx oil-free ultra moisturizing lotion. Everyone I know who has tried this loves it - not too heavy, not greasy, but absorbs and moisturizes well. Good for sensitive, dry skin - reasonable price at $16.81 for 100ml. Fifty shades of snail did a good review on it too: fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2016/03/21/review-cosrx-oil-free-ultra-moisturizing-lotion/www.amazon.com/COSRX-Ultra-Moisturizing-Lotion-Birch/dp/B01CLTKI4A

I’ve been on the hunt for a good eye cream that doesn’t give me milia and does something for the fine lines underneath my eyes. I’ve been using the Innisfree Orchid eye cream, and I like it so far! I have noticed a reduction in fine lines, and my eye area doesn’t look as hollow anymore. I have since stopped using concealer under my eyes to brighten them up, so that’s good! No milia either, which is great.
The jar seems like it will last me forever, so I think I’m just going to keep trucking along with it for the foreseeable future 👍

I’m so glad I found this thread. I need to embrace a skin routine for 2019 and have no idea where to start with products. My skin is dry and needs lots of love. I want to buy everything!!! But I don’t even know the order in which I should apply or if I’m even buying the right things.
Suggestions on good products for a skincare newbie?

I get milia, too, and I’ve been using the Etude House Moistfull, but it was too heavy to use every day. Putting this on my list.

I also wear makeup 3-4 times a week and it’s always very light. CC cream, mascara, eye shadow and a little color on my cheeks.

I also wear makeup 3-4 times a week and it’s always very light. CC cream, mascara, eye shadow and a little color on my cheeks. Well then I’d suggest starting with a simple routine and building up from there, full AB routines can be overwhelming. For the days you wear makeup I’d suggest doing s double cleanse with an oil cleanser to breakup the makeup then using your cetaphil cleanser. You need to add moisturizer to your routine. I like having a lighter day one and heavy night one. Plus an eye cream And if you want to, I’d highly recommend using sheet masks a couple times a week. My products are mash up I’d AB brands, drug store brands, and Sephora. So I’ll if you have a price point or preferred store I’m sure everyone here can help with product recs

Oh yes sunscreen! I skip that right now since I leave in the dark and come home in the dark and maybe spend 5 minutes outside at lunchtime under a grey rainy sky. But when the sun comes back, I love the Biore watery essence sunscreen

It’s that time of the month and I am finding the texture of my skin always give me problems around now. Does anyone have a gentle scrub they really like? I find most facial scrubs hard on my skin during normal times. This week I always find my face even more sensitive!

Taitai I may try that eye cream, I’ve had good luck with other Innisfree products. Sick kids have finally given me some time to check in here. I’m still loving the Cosrx Oil Free moisturizer and the Dr Jart Ceramidin liquid. They are keeping my skin from drying out and got great under my makeup. I got a sample size of the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and it makes my face itchy. I have a gift set with some other Laneige products and I’m really hoping they don’t do the same thing.

AB uses chemical exfoliates instead of scrubs to gently improve texture without damaging the skin. I use manyo factory clear skin toner with aha/bha about 1-2 times a week and just on my trouble areas. I also have seen the most improvement with the niacin essence though. I use manyo factory and after daily use since just after Christmas my skin is looking and feeling better than ever. But I will say I suffer from hormonal skin problems as well and nothing really makes much of a difference during those few days weeks.

But fair point that nothing might help right now....

Do you think sensitive skin can handle it? Apparently it’s one of the gentler acids so it should be ok for sensitive skin. I read a few blogs that seem to suggest so. But it’s $7 a bottle so if it doesn’t work for you then no great loss. I only use it once a week otherwise you run the risk of over exfoliating
