Oh no!! Like was for you having a good routine. Sounds like the laser treatment totally over exfoliated your skin, which is causing it to freak out. I would recommend using repair/hydrating/non-clogging moisturizers to get it back to normal. Have you tried Cosrx snail? I think that would help. Your current routine seems gentle and not harsh, which is good. Maybe lay off any actives/Vit C until your skin feels less itchy/irritated. ETA - I would stop the Hyaluronic acid as well. That can act like an exfoliant, which you don’t need right now. (clarified language per beesquared ‘s recommendation!) ETA 2 - what is the ph on the rice cleanser? Are there any physical exfoliators (little grains) on there? If the ph is above a 7 or there are exfoliators in the wash, just use the Cosrx low ph cleanser in the morning too. Or you can even just wash your face with water in the morning, following up with a hydrating toner right after.

Not sure about the ph in the rice cleanser, but it does have very tiny granules. I was thinking the vitamin C might be too much right now, but hadn’t considered the HA might be a problem. I’m going to have to break my no snail policy and try some because this is seriously so heinous. All good tips, I’ll try your suggestions, Taitai. Thanks so much!

Also, I had no idea that HA was an exfoliant. It has acid in the name... I guess that should have been my first clue. 😂 Glad I’m not the only one!

cagoldi, what about some soothing face masks? Something that stays on the skin a little longer before you go about the rest of your routine? I hope it heals quickly! I’m going to check my stash tonight to see what sounds like it’s the most hydrating/healing. Off the top of my head, I know I have a collagen sheet mask and I was thinking I might go with that.

I'm going to disagree with Taitai and say that HA is not an exfoliant. It's name is a misnomer. It's a humectant that attracts and holds moisture. It should be good for soothing over exfoliated skin. I would do things that are good for repairing your moisture barrier which is usually light layers of hydration. Think 7 skin methods. I would definitely stop the vitamin c for a while.

I would do things that are good for repairing your moisture barrier which is usually light layers of hydration. Think 7 skin methods. I would definitely stop the vitamin c for a while. You’re right! I should have phrased my wording better. After I wrote that, I thought for a second that exfoliant isn’t the right term, and I was going to go back and explain....but then I forget. The HA attracts other water molecules and it’s really good about locking moisture inside your skin. I forget the exact amount, but it’s something like one molecule of HA can absorb or bond with 1,000 times its weight of water. It’s amazing from a chemical standpoint. So it’s good for hydrating and plumping. However - HA can also draw moisture away from your skin if you live in a really dry environment - or in super humid environments. What can happen in those cases is that your skin will actually loose moisture and can start to peel, especially if you don’t follow up quickly with a moisturizer or occlusive to lock in the HA (or if your skin isn’t damp enough while applying the HA) - it’s happened to me. DH can’t use HA, because it makes his skin peel up and get red - even if he follows up with a moisturizer. That’s why I used the term exfoliating- but I should have said it can sometimes have an exfoliating effect, not that it IS an exfoliator. Here is an article that explains better. theskincareedit.com/2014/03/11/hyaluronic-acid-skin-benefits"If you're using a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, be careful. In very dry climates, this water-binding ingredient can't draw moisture from the environment, so it may actually start to pull moisture out of the deeper layers of your skin." Bottom line - depending on your environment and skin type, HA can actually have the opposite effect that it is intended for, causing your skin to dry and peel at the top layers (or get red), which is an exfoliation-like effect. Sorry for the confusion - thanks for clarifying beesquared ! ETA - cagoldi @karenwalker tagging for clarity.

Soothing face masks are another great suggestion! The Papas Recipe bombee ones are really nice for cases like this. I screwed up my moisture barrier by doing too many peeling treatments last year, and the bombee masks helped a lot 👍

Well you girls are lifesavers.
Last night I did my CosRX cleanser, 7 skin method using Earth’s Recipe, a LAPCOS collagen sheet mask, and CosRX snail all in one cream.
My skin is already at least 60% better. I’m going to do the same thing for at least several more days (alternating various sheet masks) and I’m now pretty confident that it’s going to improve quickly.
TL;DR K Beauty is miraculous.

Glad your skin is feeling a little better. I love those LAPCOS masks! I randomly found them at World Market, and I am pleased enough that I think I’ll go back and get the whole set. I think they had a pack of seven for $25.

I can get an 8 pack (plus 2 exfoliating pads which I don’t use because my skin is so sensitive) for $16! They also routinely sell them for $5 off. Yes! We’re going tomorrow night and I will hunt these down. Thanks so much!

Taitai thank you for the rec for Klairs toner! Loooooove my decanted sample of Klairs and I have a full size heading my way. Turns out that using TFS, both the oil and cleanser, burnt my skin. I can use it once every other day so I picked up some decanted samples of Kose speedy oil. I'll supplement with my La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser since it's pH is 5.5. I should probably stick with it as my second cleanser since it's a known product that I've used since April. There's also an app I stumbled on (Troveskin) - I'm not affiliated with it in any way. It's helped me to identify what exactly I need to work on - texture. I guess pores too, but that's genetics. I picked up some Secret Key Starting Treatment in rose to help with the redness on my face.

The addition of Klairs toner to my double cleansing and snail serum is really making my skin happy! Now I think I just need a new day moisturizer. I've been using Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation after I had a sample of it I really liked, but it's just like and not love. My #1 criteria is how it lays under makeup. I'm in a mild climate with moderate humidity.
I have only used HA in B-Hydra and it's just fine, it doesn't really seem to do anything to my skin one way or another?

I think I’m getting the Klairs toner next. It’s a little less costly than the Earth’s Recipe and while I like that a lot, it’s kind of sticky. My daytime moisturizer faves have been Acure Brightening Day Cream and the CosRX birch sap lotion. Both do great under makeup as long as I give them at least 20 minutes or so to sink in.

firefly what is TFS? Has anyone used Curology? I saw the review they did on Fifty Shades of Snail and I’m intrigued.

Random sheet mask update: everything has been just okay, nothing amazing or worthy of my buy again list.
Oerbeau Norishing Mask “Hold Me Tight”: pleasant floral smell, not overpowering. Might buy if I saw it on super sale.
BaraBoni Cucumber: smelled like real cucumbers which was nice! Essence was drippy.
DearPacker Rice: very neutral smell. No noticeable difference in my skin. Terrible fit. It was too short and kept coming off my chin and there were air bubbles all over that I couldn’t get out.
DearPacker Olive: I didn’t mind the essence but the awful fit takes it off the list for me.

firefly the Secret Key Starting treatment essence (original) is one of my favs. I pat in 3 layers at night after my acid wait time. If I skip it for a few nights (because I fall asleep, lol) I can really see the difference. It gives me a nice glow from within. I want to try the rose version next.

Have you tried the Freeset donkey milk masks? They fit sooooo nicely. Best fitting masks I have ever tried (except hydrogels, but those are kind of in their own special category for me).

cagoldi, I love the klairs! Thanks cagoldi, @karenwalker and Taitai, both the Birch sap and peach serum sound good, I also don't have a lot of time in the morning, or it's not reliable with a toddler, so I need something that sets quick. I will look into them both!

Yeah I’m glad to have figured it out because I was getting really down about my skin after it had looked so good. I’ve gone back to micellar water for now but might try another oil cleanser at some point. At least I can add my actives back into my daily routine again

emma have you tried the banilla co clean it zero? I find it rinses cleaner than the kose speedy cleaner. I've had a few stubborn blemishes on my neck since starting the kose and I think it might be the culprit. It's hard to tell because I've also not been as diligent about my night time routine.
