CestLaVie I use the same oil and it for sure warms up while I’m massaging it around.

If you all can find Dr Wu sheet masks, I really like those too. The paper is really light and they fit without slipping but mostly important they do great things to my skin

Lurker jumping in. I have read most of the thread. There is a lot of good information for someone trying to jump into Asain beauty. I am hoping you, ladies won't mind me jumping in and asking a few questions. Here is my current routine and products. It is currently the same morning and night. Oil cleanse - Rocky Mountain Soap Oil Cleanser - This is a local company. I really like how thi works and feels. My skin loves it. Water cleanse - Cosr Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser - I just started using this. My skin doesn't care for it. It feels really dry and tight afterwards. Is there another option or is it supposed to feel that way? Toner - Witch hazel - I am just using up what I have then will try the sample of Klairs that I have. Snail 96 - This works really nicely on my skin. Moisturizer - Evening: Pomegranate Cream from Rocky Mountain - Day: Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream - These both work very nicely though I will likely replace the evening cream once empty. I know I am missing some basics like a Vit C and AHA/BHA option. I haven't had any luck with one that doesn't break me out. What else should I be adding? My skin is combination and sensitive. It hates silicon and a few other things so the simpler the ingredients the better. I orginally ordered from www.mikaela-beauty.com so any brands or options that work from here are a good price point for me. I haven't seen many of them mentioned upthread. Any help or options is greatly appreciated! I have a full day today but will be back later in the evening MST.

Any help or options is greatly appreciated! I have a full day today but will be back later in the evening MST. Welcome! Glad to hear some of the AB stuff has been helping your skin! Happy to help with your questions. It sounds like you have a pretty good routine set up, which is good! In terms of the water soluble cleanser - your face shouldn’t feel too dry or tight afterwards. I’m wondering if maybe the tea tree oil in the Cosrx low ph cleanser doesn’t agree with your skin? I would recommend trying CeraVe gentle foaming facial cleanser. It’s low ph, cheap, no exotic ingredients or scents, and shouldn’t dry out your skin. www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Foaming-Cleanser-Washing-packaging/dp/B003YMJJSKI also think that once you start using the Klairs toner immediately after your water soluble cleanser, you might find that your skin feels more hydrated. In Korea - some people follow the rule of putting on a hydrating toner within 10 seconds of washing, as your face looses a lot of moisture right after you cleanse. I dunno how accurate that is, but I always try to hydrate shortly after cleaning 🤷♀️ On the actives - what types of Vit C have you used? L-AA, or an ascorbate-based serum? L-AA is stronger, but less stable. Ascorbates tend to be more gentle. Perhaps trying something with ascorbate instead of L-AA is a good way to start looking? Vit C is one of the few things that is scientifically proven to be good for your skin, so it would be a shame to miss out on those benefits. To go with your other point of having sensitive skin - have you looked at The Ordinary products? They are very basic in their ingredient list, and people with sensitive skin tend to like them for that. I know some on this thread have had a good experience with them. I have the niacinimide one on my list. I couldn’t get on to the website you linked (they might block internet traffic from my country), so I’m not sure what your price point is, but for other products, have you looked into any of below categories? -clay masks or facial scrub/wash off masks -sheet masks -eye cream -sleeping pack -Japanese steam eye masks Finally - don’t forget to order sunscreen and use it every day! No point in putting on a ton of skin care if you don’t protect it from sun damage. If you’ve been reading along, you know I love Biore and Make P:rem stuff 😁

Hi 👋 So I have been using the ordinary vitamin c lotion for the past week and I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is right. I use it after I wash my face and before moisturizer but it feels gritty when I put it on and almost like a silicone product after. I just tried mixing it with my Moisturizer instead and feel like this works better but I am not sure if that is messing with how it works. Also I have been putting it on both am and pm is that too much? I use about the size of a pea or less. Thanks!

Welcome asunasword! One thing I do after I wash my face is pat the excess water into my skin instead of drying with a towel. That helps keep my skin ready for my toner. I do use a towel to dry off my neck and eyes. I find the cosrx good morning gel to be a little drying too. I use it in the shower and I notice the effect less. Cosrx has come out with another low ph cleanser, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll link my favorite cleanser below, it's what I use at the sink and when I am not showering. Check this out: [Tosowoong]Enzyme cleanser 70g/Enzyme Powder wash/acne/blackhead... www.amazon.com/dp/B00I76Q3XM/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdo_t1_oBpSBbGNWW09H

Taitai and beesquared, thanks for the help! I will check both those cleansers out. I actually do have a few of The Ordinary products. I stopped pretty much everything to let my skin calm down. I made the mistake of too many changes at once. Once I get there I will add them back in and see what happens. What I have: Caffeine Under Eye - Love this for daytime. Still looking for a thicker night eye cream Ascorbyl Glucose Vit C - I was using this ever second night as it is drying, even just with that I saw a difference Buffet - I was using this in the morning Alpha Arbutin - Not sure where to put this in the grand scheme I am a mask junky, I missed mentioning that originally. That said, most of mine are not sheet masks as I haven't found ones that fit well. I started a list based on reqs. here for my next order. Anyone have experience with: A'Pieu Etude House J.One Jayjun Papa Recipe for masks. Off down a rabbit hole on sleeping packs and steam eye masks because those both sound lovely. Taitai, do you have sunscreens you recommend? Or brands?

If your skin is sensitive, you could even just start using it only 2-3 times a week and work up to daily use. I’ve never had Vit C feel gritty...but I’ve also never tried The Ordinary, so that could be how theirs is. Are you sure it’s not oxidized/expired? I’d double check the manufacturer/exp date - in case there was a shipping/supply error. In terms of the Vit C application, maybe a moisturizer with Vit C would be your best bet? I’m not sure if there is any problem with doing it the way you do now (mixing the ordinary with a moisturizer), but it’s hard to tell how certain things will react with each other. In my own experience- my skin had to adjust to Vit C over the course of a few weeks. It stung my skin at first, but after a while, it was fine. If your moisture barrier is currently compromised, your skin also might not react well to Vit C and AHA/BHA, because you are over exfoliating. Maybe try a heavier moisturizer or more hydrating layers to repair your moisture barrier if you think that is what is going on? Otherwise, I would reduce frequency of use and see if that helps.

I'm thinking to try either snail cream next or switch out my face wash. I'm happy with the moisturizers im using so I'll wait till they run out to try new ones. Do you think adding the snail or changing the face wash should be my next step? Thanks so much!

Do you think your current face wash is drying you out or stripping your skin? Any “cellophane skin” going on? (bright/shiny patches that are not oily...very smooth and shiny). If that’s happening - it’s a sign of over-exfoliating, and you prob want to immediately cut down on the Vit C and switch to a gentle, low ph face wash. If your skin doesn’t seem that bad, I’d do the snail next. Love snail. 🐌 🐌 💕❤️

So I'm about 20 minutes out from doing my night routine, wash face then vitamin c cream then night cream and I feel like it is still sitting on my face not absorbed. This is since I added the vitamin c cream. My night cream is very hydrating and thick but it usually has absorbed by this point, I feel like the vitamin c just sits on my face or creates a barrier. Do you think it's just the brand I'm using? Help?! I want to like it but so far I'm not impressed.

I’ve found that if I wait about 20-30 minutes after my other serums and moisturizers before I use azelaic acid (it’s suspended in silicone) it doesn’t pill. It does kind of create a barrier, and no matter how long I waited after applying the AA my night cream would pill, so I switched the AA to the last step of my routine. ETA also another endorsement for snail!! Th day I give up my snail cream is the day they let it out of my cold, dead hands. But my skin will look great 😉

Where in my routine would I add snail? In the morning I wash, elixir, vit c and hydro gel mixed, then sun screen if I’m going outside.
Evening is double cleanse, elixir, 5% retinoid or Lactic acid, night cream

Jackaroe one of the Ordinary vit c creams definitely has a gritty texture. They released a different version because people were complaining about it

Evening is double cleanse, elixir, 5% retinoid or Lactic acid, night cream For morning, you would put the snail after your Vit C/hydro gel, but before sunscreen. For evening, after lactic acid and before night cream. When in doubt, I use the general rule of applying in the order of thinnest to thickest consistency, with the overriding rule that actives go first and sunscreen/sleeping packs are always last.

My Vit C is a very runny serum that comes out of a dropper, and it doesn’t moisturize. As a result, the layers I put on after Vit C absorb very easily. Interesting what emma said about The Ordinary reformulating their Vit C product due to complaints of gritty-ness. Maybe you have one of the older batches?

They still sell the gritty one but they introduced another vit c cream as a new product. I bought the smooth one for MH recently but felt them all in the shop and the original gritty one is noticeable I tried using the Ordinary salicylic acid recently but I find it made me break out. I think it’s a silicon solution so maybe my skin doesn’t like that

The two cream varieties that are silicone free contain glycerin or a hydrocarbon oil. Both of which could be causing the piling effect on your skin as your skin won't absorb it. Glycerin is used to pull moisture towards the skin. The hydrocarbons do a very similar thing. Companies switch up the delivery method for allergy concerns. So they are added to help deliver the product but don't absorb. As it doesn't absorb it can create a barrier on the skin. Maybe try moving it the end of your routine as sakura mentioned?

Oh wow that makes sense, thanks for looking into it! So I mixed it with my moisturizer tonight, the tube said it can be mixed with other creams if you are experiencing any burning, it doesn't feel so bad this way. I think I may add the snail though, does it help with redness?

I don't use it specifically for redness but I have noticed a difference in the redness around my acne and the scars left from previous episodes. The biggest changes I have seen is in the feeling/texture of my skin and how fast things heal now. Sorry for the delay in reply. Life got busy yesterday. 😊

For those that workout at a different time than their morning or evening skin routine, what do you do after you workout for your skin? I want to make sure I am not undoing any improvements or benefits of my morning routine as I usually end up working out during nap time right now.

I would probably just splash my face with water in the morning when I got up and then do my full routine after I worked out. I don’t know if that’s the way it should be done, but that’s what I’ve done when I can’t run right after I wake up.

So my palms turned orange this morning and my skin has a weird smell. I can say I'm stopping this vitamin c for now. It just isn't the right product for me at this time and it makes me nervous to keep using it if I'm still breastfeeding and having ng this type of reaction. I'm going to look on Amazon for the snail today. Also maybe a moisturizer change but I'm not sure where to start there.
