Taitai, thanks for the recs! I do end up using the moisturizer at night mostly because it feels more like a mask than a morning moisturizer. I do have very dry skin so I like it, but I think if you had anything else it would be way too much.

CestLaVie, if you want a hydrating toner, like Taitai said, look at Klairs supple preparation toner, Pyungkan Yul toner, or the Hada Labo Gokujyun moist lotion. The Klairs lasted for about 6 months with twice daily use. I just started a bottle of the Hada Labo and want to try the Pyungkan Yul after. Which items are you looking at in the Drunk Elephant line? Their vitamin C serum or glycolic night serum sure are pricey, but may be worth the spend. Both are available in trial kits at $ephora. There are many vitamin C serums that make my head spin (ascorbic acid vs the more stable ascorbate derivatives) available at different price points. I'm still on my journey to find one that I like best. There doesn't seem to be an exact alternative to the DE glycolic acid serum, though.

@karenwalker, Thanks for sharing your current routine. I use something similar.
I found that the Neutrogena makeup wipes were too rough for. I like micellar water, either Garnier in the pink or blue cap, with make-up wipes (4 sounds about right, depending on how much makeup you wear). Followed by one of the Cerave cleansers (hydrating or foaming). Cetaphil will do in a pinch, but doesn't feel as good. So far, the Neutrogena Hydroboost gel cream is working for me and I am sad I missed it at Costco. It was there and gone in the blink of an eye.

@karenwalker, since you are a Costco shopper, I have seen Swissper brand cotton rounds in store. Came in pack of 9x 100. Can't recall price. Costco.com is carrying White Rabbit cotton wipes, 2x 100 for $12.97. Check website for dimensions. I believe that you can use a sheet of that instead of multiple rounds.
Cotton rounds: 1 each for eyes and 2 for the rest of my face.

I just realized I didn’t even mention the products that I plan to try! First will be a double cleansing routine. Cleanser:Banila Clear it zero variety pack on Amazon. I believe it’s $18. Low ph cleanser: I’m struggling a bit here. The Sulwhasoo Snowise cleanser was mentioned in the blogs multiple times, but it’s pricey. I saw an article recommending Atopalm cleanser for sensitive skin. Has anyone used this or heard about it before? www.atopalm.com/Moisturizing_Facial_Cleansing_Foam_p/75703.htmMoisturizer: beauty of Joseon Cream Sunscreen: Biore UV aqua rich watery essence (I’m trying this last, because sunscreen reacts with my skin badly) Welcome to the club!! 😊 I think you’ll really like the banila co cleaning balm! It feels so nice while you’re using it, it very gently and effectively removes all makeup, and my skin never feels tight afterward. It feels clean but also more hydrated. I love it! As for an affordable low ph cleanser, have you looked at Cosrx Good Morning Low Ph Cleanser? It’s got a good price point and it gets great reviews. I haven’t started using it myself, but I plan to soon. It does contain tea tree oil, and I’m not sure if that would bother your rosacea. As far as the redness and irritation you’ve mentioned, I would really suggest you try a snail mucin product. Snail mucin is supposed to be really healing. When my acne was really bad the blemishes were noticeably less red after putting on the snail cream. I use it on bug bites and other wounds, too. My DH thinks I’m nuts, but had to admit it made our DD’s cut heal faster (we thought we might have to take her to the doctor for antibiotics, but it was better after one night with the snail cream). I’ve also read that products with propolis are really good for healing and hydration. I use the Cosrx overnight honey mask every night. There are also serums and ampules with high propolis concentrations.

There are also serums and ampules with high propolis concentrations. @karenwalker Welcome!!! I second everything sakura says above. I used to use makeup removing wipes, but they were too exfoliating and I think they compromised my moisture barrier. I still use them while traveling (because they are more portable than an oil cleanser/balm), but when at home, I always find that a gentle oil cleanser is the best way to remove the makeup/sunscreen/gunk from the day. I love love the banila purity - I hope your skin reacts well to it! In terms of the second cleanser, you’re right - the Sulwhasoo snowise is so pricey. I am a big fan of Cerave gentle facial foaming cleanser. It is so cheap, it’s low ph, and it does a good job of removing all the residue from my first oil cleanser (so my pores don’t get clogged). www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N1LL62W/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1532592027&sr=8-4&keywords=cerave+gentle+face+cleanser&dpPl=1&dpID=412tzkiTo1L&ref=plSrchThe Sum:37 rose miracle cleansing stick is also a favorite, but it’s a bit more expensive. It still lasts me for about 9 months though...and it’s easy to travel with. But it’s sold out everywhere. Neogen makes a similar product that I’ve heard is very good, and they have it on amazon: www.amazon.com/Neogen-Fresh-Cleansing-Stick-Green/dp/B01GODUBGEI also love the Cosrx good morning low ph cleanser and the 96 power snail mucin. I think the snail would really help with the redness and acne. It has reparative properties for me - I use it every freaking day (twice a day), and it works miracles for me. If I see a blemish forming - I snail it and it’s gone. Like sakura said above, the tea tree in the Cosrx low ph cleanser might not work for your redness, but conversely, it would probably help with acne/oil control. Also, add me to the fan club of the beauty of joseon dynasty cream. I hope you end up liking it too! That stuff is great for at night - never breaks me out, but it is so hydrating and soothing. I luuuuuv it. No experience with the Atopalm cleanser you mentioned - but if you try it, let us know what you think! The Biore UV aqua rich sunscreen is always a good bet for sun protection. 👍

CestLaVie gldnbearz There are so many vitamin C serums/treatments out there. I personally find the more stable ascorbate derivatives don’t do much for my skin. I get great results by going full throttle with 20% ascorbic acid...the signature C source by T’iam. I think you need to have your acid mantle/moisture barrier in good shape before using that though, or maybe just start slow (like a few times a week), just because it is stronger.

I didn’t bring my snail mucin on vacation, and I’m missing it SO MUCH. 8 days without snail, and I’ve noticed a significant difference in my skin. I knew you guys would appreciate this observation. H just looked at me like I was crazy when I complained about missing my snail stuff 😩😅😂 🐌 🐌

@karenwalker How exciting! Those are all good purchases, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of everything - esp the snail 🐌. It does have a texture that some find weird, but you get used to it. For me, the key is to not use too much. I only use a half to 3/4 pump each time. I also started out only using it at night, because I thought it would sit funny under makeup. Now I use it in the morning too, because I love it so much. CestLaVie That is the cutest mask!! I love it - let me know what you think of it. Where did you get it?

I did some damage at duty free and picked up some new stuff during our latest trip. —My Beauty Diary power moisture brightening black pearl ex mask. This ended up being a really good deal, so I picked up a box of 9. I tried it tonight, and I like it so far. The only thing I dislike about MBD masks is that the essence tends to run down my neck/into my ears once it’s on. I like the Naruko and Freeset ones better, because they adhere well to my face and don’t get runny. Fifty shades of snail just reviewed it, and she liked it too, so there’s that. I’d probably buy again if I saw another good deal. fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2018/05/16/review-my-beauty-diary-moisture-power-brightening-black-pearl-ex-mask/— The History of Whoo In Yang Balancer It’s so pretty and I love it. I got a great deal on it - additional 30% off duty free plus a big gift set, so that’s the only reason I purchased it. Otherwise, it’s too expensive. But - now that I have it, I love how it smells and I find it very hydrating for my face. I’ll be sad once it’s gone. I use it in the place where you would normally use a hydrating toner. — The History of Whoo Bichup Ja Saeng Anti-aging essence I also love this - it does an amazing job of soothing my skin and keeping it looking even/firm. Price tag is insane and I only got a large sample (20 ml) as a special gift set with my other purchase. I’ll be sad when it runs out. — Sulwhasoo Timetreasure renovating eye cream Newp. Waaaay too heavy for my skin - I got just a little foil sample and after using only a tiny bit for 3 days, I got a milia spot underneath one of my eyes. I also have what looks to be a plugged pore (or it’s a bug bite...but I don’t think so) on the eye lid of the same eye. I think the eye cream is to blame. The full-size is prohibitively expansive at $260. Now way would I ever buy this or put it near my eyes again. —Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum This is HG for me and I always use it...twice a day. It just gives me a glow that I don’t get from other products, and it helps my other products absorb well. I notice when I don’t have it. This and my Cosrx snail are must haves - always. Sooooo happy I was able to pick up a travel duo at duty free with an extra 30% off. It was basically half the price I would pay in the USA or Korea, so I’m pleased with my purchase. Now, no more skin care buys for a while for me. 😬

I love talking routines! My skin is dehydrated, oily and acne prone. Which means left to its own devices it is red, oily with dry/sensitive patchces and acne all over. It needs water/hydration to be balanced and hates creams except in small doses. I need a gentle, daily BHA to keep my large pores unclogged and blackheads at bay. Here is my current summer routine:
Morning: -Cleanse with cosrx low ph good morning gel or Etude House Real Art no wash cleansing water and Cotten round. -Mizon aha and bha daily clean toner -cosrx natural bag skin returning a-sol (the best at keeping my acne under control) -Earth's Recipe Energy Boosting Toner (holy grail hydrating toner) -Hadalabo gokujyun premium skin solution (I think that's the name- the bottle is all in Japanese) -cosrx advanced Snail 96 mucin (my favorite straight up snail) - Mizon Snail repair eye cream - Birore UV Aqua rich watery gel sunscreen (no white cast and doesn't break me out like most sunscreens. It's moisturizing, so it needs some dry time before I put on makeup)
Evening: -Banilla co clean it zero - Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash (holy grail and I will probably give up all other water cleansers because I love this so much I don't want to try anything else) -Mizon BHA & AHA toner -Spot treat Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (nose, cheeks, chin) -Spot treat Cosrx Aha 7 whitehead power liquid (jawline, temples, forehead) -wait at least 20 minutes -Secret Key starting treatment essence -Cosrx hylauronic liquid -cosrx advanced Snail 92 -lanegie water sleeping mask -mizon collagen eye cream
Sheet masks as needed or wanted. Phew! Sounds like a lot, but it all works together well and takes less that 5 minutes of application times. Wait times are noted.

You have motivated me to put the Earth’s Recipe toner on my shopping list, as well as the tosowoong enzyme powder wash. I’ve never tried a powder cleanser before, but I’m interested! I also love the mizon aha/BHA prep toner - that is also HG for me. Is the mizon eye cream very heavy? I tend to get milia really easily under my eyes and on my non-mobile lid. Eye serums seem to be okay, but I’d really like to figure out an HG eye cream. So far, no luck on anything I love....except the Sulwhasoo ginseng one (I received a few foil samples) that is waaaaay too expensive.

Taitai you will love the powder. I wet my face and hands and then pour a tiny amount into my hand and lather it. Like old school pink powder hand soap. Then apply the lather to my face. The mizon Snail eye cream is light, the collagen one is a little heavier. However, neither one give me mila and I am prone to that. By contrast, almost every sulwhasoo product I have tried has been to rich for my skin- I can't use them more than 1-2 times a week or they start to clog my pores. Good news for my wallet, I guess. ETA- the powder wash is really travel friendly, but make sure you tape the lid flap closed if you fly with it. The air pressure will burst it open otherwise. Bonus though, it doesn't count as a liquid.

I feel like with Micellar water vs cleansing oil, it’s apples to oranges on product volume/cost, because one tends to use more Micellar water product (since cotton pads/wipes are involved and soak up product). I am using the Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil. It’s a big size (230ml), and it will last me a long time. Like, probably 6-9 mos. It’s $9.49 on amazon right now, so I feel that’s a good price point. My skin doesn’t have any negative reactions to it, and I feel oil cleansing is more gentle for removing makeup than Micellar water. But that’s just me. www.amazon.com/KOSE-SOFTYMO-Speedy-Cleansing-230ml/dp/B000V2FBAQ

My Banila tub lasted me about 8 months, and I really really liked it. I think I will probably repurchase once I go back to the states in 2019. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Q2BJZC0/ref=mp_s_a_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1533270141&sr=8-5&keywords=banila+clean+it+zero&dpPl=1&dpID=41jTGAFQ0mL&ref=plSrchSkinfood black sugar perfect cleansing oil is another favorite of mine, and also lasted me about 6 months - it comes in a 200ml bottle. Ulta often has sales on Skinfood products, so maybe you could even get a deal. It is more of a runny oil, but I like that consistency. It emulsified and rinsed clean really well too. I see it’s out of stock at Ulta - and pretty much everywhere else that I checked. Bummer. Maybe there is another Skinfood brand cleansing oil they have? www.ulta.com/black-sugar-perfect-cleansing-oil?productId=xlsImpprod14431221

emma - Oh bummer!!! I feel you on the costs outside the USA. The Banila one here is like $60 too 😭. I refuse to pay that much for it. The Skinfood one is impossible to get. I normally have family members bring skincare products in their luggage when they come to visit from the states, or I buy it during trips to Korea, Japan, or Singapore, because where I live, the import fees are insane. Sigh.
