How is everyone doing? This board has gotten super slow. Maybe we can bring it back somewhat..

It’s been a rough month, and we’re only two days in.
DS1’s speech therapist called over the weekend to talk about his upcoming annual review. She started asking questions about his habits, and eventually got to the point- she’s recommending we have an OT evaluation done on him... on Monday, his SEIT also called me. She’s trying to see if not only will he qualify for summer services, but if he will qualify for an integrated preschool special ed program next year.
They both also brought back up getting him evaluated by a behavioral/developmental pediatrician for SPD and ASD so we have a referral in for that now as well as the OT eval.
Poor DS2 is getting the short end of the stick with this because any time he does something different than DS1 did, I’m assuming he’s developmentally normal. He did take his first step yesterday!

We are doing well. He’s finally moved out of our room into the crib in his room so that’s cool. His sleep isn’t perfect but much better so I’m hopeful. He also started napping in his crib so that is also cool. And he’s got some teeth!

He also started napping in his crib so that is also cool. And he’s got some teeth! That’s awesome! I might try to move N into her crib in her own room after our beach trip in June. We need to actually buy a crib though lol. I have one picked out so I just need to pull the trigger.

We are doing well. I took N to the dr yesterday after having a cough/runny nose for over a week and it looked like it was even worse on Monday/Tuesday. She’s been biting me while nursing too. I was freaking out that it was her way of weaning, but that appears to be over now. Anyway. Turns out she has a sinus infection. Poor thing. I’m hoping the medicine starts to kick in soon.
We go to Seattle this weekend for a week and I’m super excited! Taking the kiddos too so it’ll be an adventure.

cmb DS1 started with an OT about two or three months ago. We've already seen a some of improvement taking him out to stores and such. I'm sorry you're in the same boat, it's beyond draining.

Also, DS2 has started taking steps! His record so far is 7 steps but refuses to do it if we are trying to record him, little stinker.
Now that his 1st birthday is approaching we've already started hearing "time for a third!" which I can't nope out of fast enough.

lupincat my MIL is apparently telling people we are trying. 1. We have not told her such thing 2. Even if we were we wouldn’t tell her since she was all “if y’all wouldn’t stress so much about trying then it would happen” when we were trying for N. 3. We are NTNP but definitely not trying since my cycle isn’t back. I found out she was telling people by H’s birthday card from his Aunt. It said “MIL tells me you are trying for #3. Good luck with that”. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 gah! Totally mortified.

They didn’t do OT for his initial eval- just basic behavior and communication. Now, it’s becoming apparent that there’s something else involved since improvement is what they were expecting behavior wise and he’s showing sensory issues to his therapist. I just assumed his excessive meltdowns, super clinginess and fidgeting, and constant biting were normal 🤷🏼♀️ I’m very fidgety and still bite my nails and pens He already gets a SEIT 2x per week for an hour each and 2 sessions of speech per week. Our daycare director said he gets the most services already out of all the kids ETA- his issues are mostly behavior towards others. He’s always been by shopping buddy so he’s usually okay provided he’s in a carrier.

cmb Our DS1s are struggling with different issues but they sound very similar! I hope he qualifies and it's helpful for him.

MIL has been harassing DH about how we can't make DD an only child. Luckily I haven't had to hear about it from her. When I was TTC/pregnant with DD, I thought I'd want to TTCAS when DD was 18 months. Now that I realize how much childcare costs in the city, I think we'll try to spread out any siblings a bit more. DD would have to be in public preschool, or I'd have to stay home, to make it feasible. DH and I still talk about siblings with lots of IFs but we're saving all the big baby gear, and DDs nicer clothes, so... cmb a friend's DS is going through something similar - she was told the SPD diagnosis would be 3-4 years out (when he's 7+), which is hard when he needs help now. I hope your DS1 can get qualified for everything! It's wonderful that he has so many people looking out for him.

I am still so torn about having another. I don't know if and when I can ever decide but I also would like them to be close in age if there is a sibling. I just don't know.

What are your kiddos sleeping in with the warmer weather? J's been sleeping in fleece Halo sack forever and then it got hot all of a sudden yesterday so I put him to bed with short sleeves and PJ pants. It took him a little longer to fall asleep and he woke up a bunch more times during the night but I don't know if that had anything to with anything - not having the sleep sack on, still being too warm, having the windows open, only having napped once, who the fuck knows. I meant to get a lighter weight sleep sack but maybe I'll just try to ditch it altogether?

@pirate cat I was wondering the same thing. I have her in a onesie with a sleep sack now and a fan in her room. Sleep sack is a sleep association for her. Her pajamas are too heavy for today. DH wants to put an AC in her room. Does any one else want to do that ? I just want to do a fan and an AC in the kitchen, next to the bedrooms We have central air, but set it at high 70s overnight to pull out the humidity

Well, if you want a +/- comparison, lupincat and I have a similar age gap and can talk about having 2 under 3. We’ll probably go for #3 in the fall once DS2 is 18 months

We don’t have AC and window fans have worked really well for us, but we get much cooler temperatures here most summer nights. Keeping the windows and curtains closed during the day, and opening everything up at night with window fans going is usually enough to keep comfortable for us but we’ll have to see how this summer is.

The first few months were pretty tough for me plus the ongoing lack of sleep... and I don’t feel like J was that tough of a baby, so it mostly has to do with me. I feel like I could be perfectly happy with one. But maybe two would be great too and better (“better” because who’s to say, really) for the kids. And then there’s the financial part too.

+1 to money slowing down having a second. I need to make more so that’s why I’m going back to school for two years. What are you going back to school for, if you don’t mind me asking? That’s exciting! When do you start?

Re: night sleeping and sleep sacks, we ditched the sleep sack probably around March or so. Our house runs warm (no shade and windows that aren't not very energy efficient) so DS2 usually sleeps in a short sleeve shirt with a blanket. He's a belly sleeper and doesn't really mlve around much. Although it was 92 today and our AC conveniently died so he's in shorts and a shirt PJs. Mother Nature needs to calm tf down. piratecat I'll be back in the morning to comment on my 2u3 (2u2 for a bit really) experience. I didn't want to ignore cmb's tag.

cmb are Tula blankets similar to the muslin swaddle blankets? No, they’re thicker. I think the material might be different, too. Before we got those, we used the A&A stroller blankets that were 2 layer muslin
