Whoa boy. I really enjoyed it. There were some really funny parts, and a couple scenes where our theater started clapping and cheering. You could have heard a pin drop when the credits started. Everyone was in shock. It was like all 5 stages of grief in the same room at the same time. Some people were sad, some were angry, and some like me were defiant. I kept telling my husband "I refuse to accept that they're dead". I wholeheartedly believe that this is all part of Dr. Strange's plan. He's way too damn logical and unemotional to sacrifice a stone for Tony Stark. There's a reason. This is the only way. The good guys have to lose (at first), in order to win (in the end). Watching them all melt away was definitely depressing. I'm not sure which "death" was hardest: Scarlet Witch losing Vision (again) then melting away herself, Tony holding Peter while he melted away (damn did they both do a good job in that scene), or Okoye watching T'Challa melt away. Surprisingly, I didn't shed a single tear. Normally I cry really easily during movies. I think I was feeling too defiant to cry, lol. I'm also still in denial about Loki. I refuse to accept they killed the funniest foil to one of the main heroes. I actually thought of Vandy during that scene. She's gonna be heartbroken. DH and I firmly believe that the 1 scenario that worked to end thanks involves Tony which is why Strange traded him for the Time Stone. As for the rest of your post, I am you. There is no way they are all just staying dead especially since most of them will continue the MCU. I bet the OGs have to sacrifice themselves for the newbies. The only ones I don't think will come back are Loki and Gamora. Dd2 sobbed at the end. We we're so shocked. She's not one to do that. I feel like I need to see it 20 more times to really catch everything. That's my husband's theory as well. It's the only explanation for why Dr. Strange would do that.

A few days out, I have some more thoughts. One, I'm excited that people will finally know who Captain Marvel is! I was really stoked to see her symbol show up at the end on Fury's pager. I have a Captain Marvel purse and 99% of the time people think it's Wonder Woman, so I get excited when someone knows who she is. MH is much more familiar with the infinity wars comics and he says that the Soul stone will be the important one in the next movie, and that the souls of the people turned to dust are stored in there and need to be released to set things right. And I totally agree with RajahMD that the Avengers who are left will be the ones most at risk, especially since it's basically down to the original Avengers plus Rhodey. I was pretty convinced that Tony was a goner as soon as he had that baby conversation with Pepper, and I still don't think he will survive the next movie. I hope that Nebula has a big part in the next movie as well, she is important to setting things right in the comics. I think Hawkeye will come back, because it's likely that all/most of his family will be gone and he will want to set it right. I also think that Loki is not dead. His death was so quick and without a lot of fanfare and I can't see them leaving it like that. I still don't like where it was left, and the way they did it for shock value, but I can start to see where they are building it up for the next movie. And you have to admit, they've pretty much ensured every person in the theater will be back in a year's time for the second half.

Dramaphile, Rocket is also stuck on earth with the OG. He's the only surviving GOG, not including Nebula (who is stuck on Titan with Tony). I feel the worst for him. He just watched his best friend die, again (poor Groot). He's stuck on an alien planet, and he'll probably soon find out that the rest of his gang is gone. And Bucky went poof too, so he can't even steal that arm he wants so much.

Does he go into hiding? Reveal himself? Who does he stay with- Thor? Steve? Etc? So. Many. Questions.

Maybe they'll stay in Wakanda to help them rebuild. That would make the most sense. Which brings me to the next question: Does Shuri become a Black Panther now? She does in the comics... I know there's no heart leaf or whatever left anymore to give her powers, but she would be the next in line for the throne, unless M'Baku decides to challenge... At the very least, she needs a super suit and some awesome weapons.

MH is going back to see it again possibly tonight, I will make sure he reports back on it. Edit: I just googled because that's easier and according to an article, M'Baku survived. We don't see if Shuri survived or not, but my assumption is she did because otherwise Wakanda is pretty fucked.

I don't see how Shuri could have died. Because then we won't get her, Tony, and Bruce coming together to defeat Thanos.

Hulk got his ass handed to him by Thanos and wanted nothing to do with fighting him again. So he kept telling Banner, no.

I wonder if Black Panther 2 will be a power struggle between T’challah and a Wakanda person who is furious about the destruction that happened as a result of opening to the world in this war. Or whoever takes power while he’s vaporized.

I had basically the same thoughts as RajahMD . I loved it, I thought they worked in all the characters well without anyone feeling shoe-horned or unnecessary. I loved the humor, could have used more Captain America, and I'm still blown away that Red Skull wasn't actually Hugo Weaving (it's The Walking Dead's Ross Marquand. If you haven't seen his celeb impersonations, go spend some time on YouTube. He's incredible. /fangirl) I also agree that the survivors are the ones most at risk in the next movie. Either Iron Man or Captain America will die, I'm guessing. I know Chris Evans is pretty much done, so my money has always been on Cap. Add me to the "Shuri dies and we riot" list. I absolutely LOVED the scene where she schooled Bruce (and so did every POC around me. Representation matters.)! Also, would pay real $$$ to watch an Okoye/Black Widow/Scarlet Witch buddy movie. I wish there had been a little more interaction between Falcon and Bucky, I loved their chemistry during Civil War. At the end, same in my theatre - nobody moved. It was super intense, and despite the fact I know certain people are going to survive (we already know there's another GotG, Spider-man, and likely Black Panther movies coming), my heart BROKE when Peter said "Mr. Stark?" at the end. Like, holy crap. I love their relationship and Tom Holland continually kills it. ETA: Also, Peter Dinklage. Amazing.

cakewench, I would be done for a Okoye/BW/SW movie. Watching Okoye and BW fight using just pure skill, and doing a damn good job of it, was awesome.

UO: Loki had to die, and early in the movie. They needed to establish Thanos isn't fucking around, and Heimdall (though much we all love Idris Elba) wasn't enough of an emotional punch to get that across. The longer they left Loki alive, the harder it would have been to weave his narrative into the film. He failed Thanos TWICE. There was no explaining why Thanos would just let him go.

I agree, and at the same time hate that it's true. Because I love Loki, but he wouldn't have made any sense to try to weave into the story. And we had to have a high-stakes on screen death early to really feel the seriousness of the threat. But I'm in denial and will likely stay there for a little bit.
