Leaf 🌱 and others, here is today's workout. Not as much a fan of this one. Not enough cardio and no upper body strength. She tried to space out the cardio to keep the babies quieter in strollers (which worked) but it wasn't enough cardio to keep the heart rate up. I would recommend making the squats jump squats and adding in a set of push-ups (3 sets of 12 with whatever modification is needed). Finish the workout with 3 plank holds of decreasing time: 1 min, 45 sec, 30 sec. She also did 3 min of various crunches.

I agree. THat doesn’t seem very challenging. Of course planks straight up ain’t happening these days. Lololol. Anyone dealing with any level of diastasis recti? Mine isn’t terrible, but I worry about making it worse.

Mine isn’t terrible, but I worry about making it worse. I don't think I have it but the yoga teacher yesterday said buti yoga was developed to help with that? The woman who developed it had a 4 finger separation and got it down to 1 finger through buti. Eta I do know you're not supposed to do like crunches or alot of Pilates floor work with diastasis.

She said the only important thing to be mindful of is to incorporate the entire abdominal region. So doing side planks or wood choppers and leg lifts and roll outs in addition to your crunches and planks. Her clinical focus is on exercise in pregnancy, which is why I chose her. I asked her to measure my DR when I was there on Friday and she said it wasn't anything to be concerned about, just time and my usual core work would resolve it.

I....just.... WUT I've been hula hooping on the days I don't run. Looking up today to see what the benefits are supposed to be and looking to buy a new/better one. Did not realize it was such a serious sport.

Hi guys! I hope that it’s ok that I’m popping over from the May/June group. DS2 is early May and lots of the babies on the board decided to stay put until evicted so a wellness/exercise thread is probably premature.
I’m recovering from a CS and my OB said that I can start working out now but to leave core engaging exercises until after 10 weeks. I’m motivated in theory but then when I have DS2 snuggled on me, my motivation is MIA.
I had an active first pregnancy but could not manage it this time and frankly I’m feeling disappointed about the weight gain and mid section that seems to be growing/ not shrinking.
Any words of advice to get started and stay on track?
I’m hoping to start walking more and start spinning again followed by strength training via streaming On Demand Les Mills/ BodyPump and/or the Beachbody workouts. I should also start clean up my diet and drink more water and swap in healthier snacks since my body doesn’t need as many calories as I’m giving it.
Would love to hear about how you are getting things done so that I can shame myself into getting moving!

kiri I literally just finished my first work out at the gym - I’ve been walking, running around with DD1 but not much else. I’m going to start OTF next week. I’ve never done it before but my sister assured me that they welcome a v v wide range of abilities 😂. I’m just trying to shake the cobwebs off now. It sucks but I’m proud that I did it. I’m going to stalk IG for some BBC work outs and see if I can do those too.

IG is great...I’ve been saving a few short PP workout moves from goodfortheswole I need to get into a routine though because the days are flying by! What’s BBC? That’s not BBG, is it?

@kira no, it’s burn boot camp. It’s one of those boutique work out programs that they do at nicer gyms. It usually doesn’t incorporate too much in terms of equipment so it’s easy to do on your own.

So I’ve been using MyFitnessPal to log calories. I add an extra 500 a day for breastfeeding. That’s been shaming me into not binging every sugary thing in my house after bedtime. I was trying to do the 21 day fix workouts, I really like them but I’ve been short on time lately since my husband is in the process of roofing the garage. I hope I can get back to it ASAP. It’s been too hot to take the baby out for walks which is a bummer.

I was getting in a good habit of "running" every morning first thing. Then last weekend I was miserable from being off my allergy meds in anticipation of getting testing done; it was too much to try and run when I felt like that and then I missed my appt so I have another one in a week and a half so I'm just waiting it out and very great intentions to start again after I can take Zyrtec regularly again. I should do ab workouts in the meantime at least.

I have really been slacking with my workouts lately. I don’t have time M-Th so I’ve been trying to do extra Fri-Sun, but the past couple weekends we’ve been out of town and then I was sick. Excuses, I know. I need to get back into it though. I’m slowly working through BBM 5.0.

I seriously need to cut out a few things that suck up the majority of the daily calorie needs.

I started going back to the gym last week. I am so out of shape. Right now I’m doing the elliptical 3 days a week. I also want to do BBM 5.0... I think mattsgirl2004 was also doing it, but I’m going to wait. We’re going out of town for two weeks next month and I know I wouldn’t keep up with it.

Thanks for that encouragement kiri! I did some stretches and ab exercises this morn. My breakfast pry cancelled it out though.

My upper abdomen still hurts so I’m not doing much other than walking. At some point it’ll feel better right?

I've been doing OTF on weekends and also started going back to my early morning classes in the last couple of weeks. Admittedly that is only possible because DD is sleeping well. There's no way I would be able to wake for a 5:30 am class if she was waking more than once.
I am training for a few races too (a 10k on July 4th, a 7 miler in August and a half marathon in October) so I try to get one long run in per week (weekend day that I'm not doing OTF) and a weeknight short one. There is a local running club that does loops on Thursday nights that I'm going to start.
I start work again on Friday so I think fitting in workouts will be easier once we are all back in a routine. It wasn't easy to do on mat leave. My weight loss has plateaued at my pre preg weight, which is still 10 pounds above goal due to gain from IVF before I got pg. I'm hopeful for a bump when my mileage for training picks up. And when I'm not home to snack all day

calendula, , That is so impressive! Good for you! I need to get my rear in gear, and I suppose I could probably do arm and leg workouts, but I tend to lean toward whole body work and anything requires me to use my core really so I just don't know. Maybe next week? I need to drink more water though. That I know for sure.

Do you like hiking? A good friend of mine wasn't able to do core exercises for 6 months after her section but kept her endurance and leg strength base up by hiking regularly.

I tried to run a little with the jogging stroller when DS started fussing during a walk and my body said “nah”. The extra weight gain from shots and meds stinks. Solidarity.

I got in two 3 mile power walks pushing the toddler in the stroller and then the baby on Mon and Tues. It was too hot though. Today was perfect but DS2 caught DS1’s cold so off to the pediatrician we went. I can’t stop chocolate from falling into my mouth.

calendula I’m going to Otf for the first time this week. Any suggestions? My biggest fear is weirdly that’ll need a partner and no one will pick me 🤦🏻♀️

calendula I’m going to Otf for the first time this week. Any suggestions? My biggest fear is weirdly that’ll need a partner and no one will pick me 🤦🏻♀️ Don't be afraid!!! Listen to the coach cues, particularly on the treadmill. Don't hesitate to ask the person next to you if you're unsure what your pace or incline is supposed to be. If you need a modification for any weight room move, ask the coach after the demo is over. Pay attention to your form on the rower. And don't be shy. Everyone was new once. Have fun!!! I love it
