tinyjoys did you notice any difference between the epidural and spinal block? I was drugged out of my mind with DS because I wad getting hot spots with the epidural, so they loaded a spinal block on top of it in the OR.i could barely even speak when they were trying to get me to swallow Cytotex to stop some bleeding to tell them I was too dehydrated to swallow it. I'm hoping to not feel sip freaking drugged this time. The spinal would have nothing to do with feeling drugged unless they premedicated you with something to help you relax. I'm assuming you were receiving IV pain meds in addition to your epidural which is probably what left you feeling drugged? If you're a scheduled C, this should be a non-issue. I'm honestly not certain what all they gave me at the end. I labored for 32 hours, but only dilated to 7. I know they changed something with the meds a bit before the decision to go with c section was made. I shook like crazy as well, good to know that was the spinal. I'm hoping my scheduled c section is a little easier than my first was.

Oh God, I really hope they don't expect DH to leave the room at this hospital. I held onto DH in front of me when they put the epidural in last time. The nurse was there and held my arms through contractions. It really was nbd. I was in so much pain, I just wanted to feel better!

Does anyone know if their hospitals still have flu restrictions that would prevent kids from visiting? I was chatting with another daycare mom who is also due next week, and she said her hospital (different than mine) still has flu restrictions in place so her son may not get to visit unless they lift them by next week. I had assumed we would be past that at this point, but now I’ll have to ask at my next appt if we’ll be good at my hospital.

budders, our hospital’s was lifted two weeks ago yesterday, but last I heard, my cousin’s hospital (that she’s an L&D nurse at) that’s a different “chain” (is that the right word?) wasn’t the last I heard.

budders , I had no idea this could be an issue ! I will have to check. I know! I'm hoping I'm good because my sister's friend just delivered at the same hospital as mine a few weeks ago and I know her daughter was able to visit. I will be really, really sad if V can't come and be the first to meet the baby.

Ugh I meant to ask about the flu restriction at my last appointment. Totally forgot.
DH got a concussion saving our two year old from swan diving off a fire truck today, so hopefully this baby stays put until he's feeling better.

I believe our hospital still had flu restriction but siblings were allowed to visit. Same here at the NICU at a different hospital. DD has been able to visit any day. We just have to sign something that she doesn't currently have fever, cough or cold.

My H won a 3 day, all expense paid, houseboat trip on Lake Shasta from his distributor at work. It's about 4 hours north of us. It's for 8 adults and up to 4 kids. It will be with his grandparents/brothers/MIL since it's the family business that won.
Anyway...the caveat is that it has to be redeemed this summer. I've never been on a house boat. Am I crazy thinking it will be fun to go towards August? With a 3yo and a baby? We will have lots of family there to help. And it won't be rowdy. His family used to go on an annual houseboat trip up until the year before we met so they are all super excited.
We've never taken a family vacation, really. And the opportunity likely won't come up again anytime soon as my H can hardly ever take the time off work. And this one is 100% free. I really want to make it happen. Is this totally crazy?

It sounds like you have every reason to try to go for it! Worst case, you can turn around and go home the second day if it doesn’t work out.

I would absolutely go. The only thing that would even make me think twice is having to go with MY in-laws, but that doesn’t sound like it applies to your situation.

I got the stomach virus 😭. I was having contractions all day yesterday but also felt very nauseous. My doctor ended up having me come in just to make sure but I was still at 3cm and contractions weren’t close enough so they sent me home. As soon as I got home I started throwing up & haven’t even been able to keep water down

itsmemeg - what app are you using to track feeding? I need to get one of those for when it's time.
