I am not too concerned about not knowing if they are real contractions because if I learned anything last time, it's that I have a low tolerance for pain. I thought I was dying and was screaming for the epidural. The nurse initially thought I was dilated to 7 or 8 when I arrived so I thought it wouldn't be long. After about 2 hours, the doctor came in and I was only at like a 5. I don't understand how people do it without the meds! For me, the pain increased significantly pretty quickly but only because I am a weakling.

Re contractions:
Ive been having BH for a while and also real contractions started last Wednesday night. I mean, I’m assuming they’re real because I feel it in my lower back with these particular contractions and they seem to last longer than the BH. They tend to only happen after 4pm and throughout the night but haven’t been very consistent. So it’s keeping me on my toes until Thursday.

I had a ton of BH and false labor with my first. Like, I'd be timing for almost an hour then *poof* they stopped. When I was actually in labor, I refused to believe it because I'd had it many nights leading up to that point. H came in to check on me and my contractions were 3-7 minutes apart and convinced me we should call the doctor. Then I couldn't talk through them. When we got to the hospital 2 hours after they started, I was already at a 6, fully effaced, and my water was bulging.
Apparently I'm also too pleasant and polite (prior to being in transition without meds) between contractions for the nurses to believe I was in labor.
My fear is that my labor will be absurdly fast this time since I went from a 2 to a 10 in 4 hours.
Also, have I mentioned to stay super hydrated? Drink your water. Don't go into labor dehydrated because it takes for.ev.er to get an IV in and delays your epidural.

My friends and doula and MWs keep telling me second labors are shorter. Damn well better be. I was in labor with DD for 48 hours, including 11 hours of Pitocin contractions with no epidural. I won't be doing that again. If I need Pitocin give me that epidural immediately.

Is anyone else nervous they won’t know it’s legit contractions? This isn’t my first but I have this fear that I will mistake it for BH or not know. This is probably ridiculous lol I was nervous, too. I actually started having legit contractions before they took me back for the c-section. Mine felt like really bad cramps. And then bad cramps that got worse. Once I was grimacing through them and having to hold onto the side of the bed, i knew they were legit.

I'm trying to take advantage of the free meals I get since I'm nursing, but it's only for room service. And I'm already getting tired of the room service menu. I think I'm going to try to eat at the cafeteria just once a day to help get me out of the room and more variety.

I just know it was bad.

My house is getting professionally deep cleaned while I'm at the hospital. The cleaner confirmed with me today. That and my hair appt the day before my RCS are the only reason I don't want her to come early. Thank you for reminding me that I need to find a house cleaner. My parents are paying for one as a baby gift

I'm nervous about recognizing real contractions, too. I was induced last time and the contractions on the monitor weren't toooooo bad. But then my water broke and everything happened really fast after that so it's a blur.
I'm also nervous about making it to the hospital in time if I don't recognize the signs of labor. We live about 15-25 minutes away, depending on time of day. It's basically a straight shot down a busy 55MPH road...that lacks cell reception for most of it. My H also often works in places without cell reception. Thankfully his entire family lives less than a mile down the road from us but that's not the same as my H being with me, obviously. My MIL is a highly anxious person who does not handle stressful situations well. She's also a crazy ass driver. So if she is the one who has to accompany me until we can reach my H...I will hate life.

This is probably ridiculous lol I have a bit of this worry because I only had contractions in my back last time. Hopefully that's not the case this time but I have no idea what real contractions feel like.

My mom's group threw a little shower for me this morning. It was super sweet. I did get 150 size 1 diapers, which I was a little bit what do I do with these, since we use cloth, but then I remembered that we will be moving right when she's around that size so that's actually awesome. This should be enough to get me through the move before I can get back to cloth. And then tons of wipes and a few little toys and things. And now I can finish buying what's on my registry.

It was awful!" I think my biggest worry here is getting a hold of DH if labor starts when he's at work (not allowed to have cell phones on them at work and where they are changes frequently so it's hard for the guy in the office to track people down). It won't be a HUGE deal if it happens after my dad is here, at least he can stay with the boys while I call an uber, but if I go into labor before dad gets here and DH is at work... yeah.

Today is my second to last Monday before maternity leave. I’m wondering if I’ll make it til my proposed last day of May 4th or not, given the findings of my last OB appointment. Everyone around me thinks not, apparently, even though they don't even know the results of my last appointment.
So far today I have heard “What are you doing here, I thought you’d be gone by now?” and “You sure look like you’re going to go out early…hopefully you’re all caught up on work! Or we’ll be pounding on that delivery room door ~awkward laughter~” or my personal favorite “Why are you still here? You don’t look like you should be working, you should be resting.”
Yes, I should be resting, that’s a great idea. But ya know…adulting and toddler and that’s just not how that works. I even put on make up this morning trying to convince myself I looked like a functional human instead of an about to pop sleep deprived monster. Clearly it did not do the trick.

I'm also weirdly nervous that with the amount that I pee, I won't know if my water broke in the toilet. We've got a long drive and I'm hoping I recognize labor as soon as it starts so I don't wait too long and pop a baby out along the way. I know it's not likely.

I'm nervous that I'll go into labor before the parents are here. They haven't told me their arrival date as of yet, and I'm hoping they keep in mind that I had DS at 38w and I keep hearing stories of the second child coming earlier. At the least I hope they are able to easily change their flight plans if needed!

I think part of me being so nervous is about is because I am a solid 30 min away from the hospital also my doc told me not to try and labor at home because I had already started to dilate at 35 weeks. So idk, I think she freaked me out!!

Luckily Friday is my last day of work, but I’ll have my fingers crossed every day this week that I don’t go into labor while I’m there.

Dear baby,
Is there a position in between can’t-breathe and pee-every-seven-minutes?
Thanks, the person growing you

armpants I'm in a similar boat and I hate the stress of needing my parents here but not being able to predict what will happen. Last time they were here a week before I was due and they were starting to make me stressed with their constant predictions each day. I was sure my second would be early like his brother but he was only 3 days early so there was a lot waiting around.

Hello ladies! I should get to go home this morning if rounds go well for both baby and I!! My 3 year old is looking forward to it. He gave me the best snuggles at the hospital last night and had a really rough time when his uncle took him home.
Baby girl is, so far, the chillest baby ever. Like, I had to set an alarm last night for every feed. I’m sure that will change soon though, so I’m just enjoying this energy and well rested feeling while it lasts!
I’m wearing pants (pajamas) and my own clothes. Inspired by Princess Kate, I also put on makeup. No heels though—my feet are more swollen than before and my flip flops barely fit!
