I checked in stores and didn’t see anything I liked for tankinis (her one piece is from there) but after I posted I checked the website and saw a couple that could work. That one is cute!

trtlcrzy, Sunshine Swing on zulily has some of the cutest swimsuits...and dresses. Depending on when you are wanting them for you might take a look. Ship time is long though because they ship from China.

Here we have “head start” which is a preschool for lower income families. You have to apply and there are only so many slots. We have this, too. It’s different than pre-k though. Same.

I don't think we have to do an assessment but maybe that's because we are going to TK, not K.
In any case, I'm not worried about it because one of Dude's classmates has older siblings who went to the same pre-K he's in now at DC and they had no trouble testing into Kindergarten. And yes, they have to test in as opposed to just an assessment since it's a Magnet STEM school.
Their mom said she was a little nervous about it but the admissions office saw the name of our current school and assured her all the kids coming from our DC are well-prepared and do great.

Re: assessments. So it is not the norm here for public or Catholic schools unless it's a certain program.
B's little friend is in a Montessori preschool right now, and they want him in an public academic program for kinder in the fall. The school goes through applications, picks certain ones to be 'invited' to an assessment, the kids go in for a kinder time slot of 2.5 hours, the parents wait outside/in the gym and if it is evident that the kid 'isnt the right fit' the teacher walked into the gym saying would the parents of "so and so' come collect your child. After that if they pass the assessment their name gets put into a lottery to be randomly picked to register for the school.
The Dad was at sportball last week and he was like 'it was so nerve wracking waiting in the gym seeing if A would behave so we could be the right fit'. My eyes almost rolled outta my head.

I feel like there is no way my Dude could sit still and follow directions for 2.5 hours in that setting.

cagoldi they basically ran a kinder class for the kids and did hardcore assessments on them while they were there. In a brand new place, with brand new people, all determined in 2.5 hours. Crazy

I will start this off by saying that apparently I’m very picky. Has anyone found cute tankini toddler suits? I like to get H a couple swimsuits for the summer and I already have a one piece for her. I like neon colors or florals but haven’t found anything I love at my usual places. I have ordered suits for both kids recently at Lu & Mi. IIRC they have some cute tankinis, or at least more modest two pieces. I also have seen cute ones at online shops like Smocked Auctions. They are a bit more expensive so I wouldn't buy every suit there, but some of them are just ridiculously adorable.

Crazy I'm not sure what other options they have available to them but I think it's my job to set him up for success as much as possible and that certainly doesn't work for him.
