Welp, It's winter again in Michigan because why not? Glad I brought leftovers for lunch. I didn't have to wonder out, so I got some crafting accomplished: Anyone else do some lunch time crafting? I'm finding I'm getting a lot accomplished just doing it 3x a week.

I’m on such a craft slump lately. I haven’t done anything in weeks.

I keep putting off finishing this purse I'm making. I made attachment pieces for the strap and then I had issues with putting in the rivets so I have to scrap them and start over. ugh. The cleaning stuff I ordered for my vintage Singer arrived today though, so I'll probably be de-rusting parts tonight and trying to do some organizing in my sewing room, which is a disaster in part because of the toddler godzilla who loves to get into my sewing stuff.

honeylemon, I had been in a slump, but work is getting super stressful and I'm trying to avoid emotional eating, so lunch hour crafting it is! Dramaphile,I too have an almost finished purse; the idea was super cute, and it looks ok, but the size isn't quite right and I can't muster energy to finish it. Truth be told, I'll probably end up letting this one sit until I can bear to throw it out. I'm not sure it's worth saving. Anyhow, TGIF. And I have some blocks done:

Dramaphile, the "toddler godzilla" can be such a fitting name. When LO was a toddler, he once took a nearly full spool of thread and ran back and forth across the entire house while unwinding it. I forget what he said he was doing, but he was so proud to show me after the mere minute I had been in the bathroom. As you can probably guess, most of the thread was not salvageable due to knots.

Her favorite thing is to get into my bobbins and thread spools and unwind them! Sometimes I try and re-wind them by hand and sometimes I just give up and cut it off.

I think I’m going to drag out my serger and see if I can’t master it today. I need to go to JoAnn’s too. I’m starting a sew along today (PAB Altitude) and it snuck up on me. I need to find fabric to use.

I made two pairs of pajama pants for LO last week. While I was finishing the second pair last night, he was pulling out more fabric, making a small stack of ones he wanted made into more pajama pants.

Every time I finish one project for my kids they are already putting in requests for the next one. Or five. 🤣 R is about to move up to a size 6 shirt so I’m thinking I’ll start working on size 6 summer shirts for him to grow into this summer and limit how many I actually buy. He prefers to wear what I make anyhow. 🤷🏼♀️

I finally picked up my hook again. My 4yo asked for slippers. Her favorite color is purple and the unicorn is a felty from Etsy. Now I just have to make the other slipper.

The list currently includes items for pretend play such as every weapon of the good guys and select costume-type items from the Lego Ninjago show (of course the show has a ton of weapons, some of which are rather complex even with scaling back the level of detail). It's awesome that they love our creations so much. I wish I had a million more hours in the day so I could actually make each of his ideas.

So I bought this cute Star Wars easter fabric on a whim like a week ago and I need to figure out what to make with it before Easter! It's quilting cotton. I don't think I'm ambitious enough to want to do a full dress for DD, but maybe a skirt? Or a bag? Or a fabric easter basket? Bonus if it's something someone might want to buy since I think I have 2 yards of it. The scale of the print is that the eggs are about 2 inches long.

I kinda want a half dozen or so of those buckets; now I'm thinking it could make toy pick up/sorting easier if I used themed fabric (Dinosaurs, cars, Paw Patrol, etc). We currently use clear lidded shoe boxes for the smaller collections, but the dinosaurs and vehicles have gotten way out of hand.

We currently use clear lidded shoe boxes for the smaller collections, but the dinosaurs and vehicles have gotten way out of hand. That's a good idea, I need to get a handle on toy storage, especially for the small items. And dress-up clothes. Need to figure out a way to store that stuff better but still make it accessible. My current non-system of crap stuffed in old diaper boxes is not working for anyone.

Dramaphile, I really love these clear shoeboxes for the little things: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KBKSZQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They're sturdy, stackable, lids are attached so don't get lost, and they stay closed during some pretty rough handling. DS (or me, really) keeps Paw Patrol figures in one, Cars in another, Planes in another, TMNT, etc. Since they're clear, he can see what's in them, and often just shakes them a bit to see if the particular car he wants is in there. I ended up buying a second set for craft supplies.

I'm working on a scrappy quilt for my last nephew. I sure hope he likes bright! I can't wait to see the back side of this one, not preplanning colors and patterns is making me twitchy, but I am also glad to use up a whole wack of my scraps from previous quilts.

Love that quilt saltypearl, looks like it's a pretty easy pattern. Might be fun to do with I spy type fabrics.

sudokufan I ordered a set of those boxes, now to start getting things reorganized... I got back on my sewing machine last night and made a reversible star wars skirt for my two year old out of the easter fabric and some R2D2/C3PO sugar skull fabric I had and it turned out pretty cute! Next time I'll actually follow a pattern, because I realized I should have constructed it differently and the side seam turned out a little wonky.. Will post photos tonight when she can try it on.

The last part of pregnancy and newborn life has kept me from crafting, but I managed to sew a quick soft book (kit from Jo Ann Fabric) in the last week. It will go in DD's Easter basket. I have a bunch of other projects that I want to work on but she doesn't sleep well during the day unless she is on me. Never fails, within 15-20 minutes of transferring her to the pack n play she wakes up.
