Morning! guster both those houses sound great, I hope they are just as nice in person. We all know my feelings on pools so I will not bore y’all on the topic 😛 All 4 of us have been struck down by a cold so our house is just a hot mess today. Of course B is still going 100 mph, no clue what I will entertain him with today, and the weather is foul. Le sigh. I had planned to make jambalaya tonight for Marco Gras but I just don’t feel up to all the chopping, etc, so leftovers it is!

From what I'm learning, as long as you have at least an acre property and there's a good space between the well water and the septic system and you get it checked frequently (with a really good inspector to start the process) it's just about regular maintenance. We don't have a well, we have a cistern. But we haul well water to it instead of paying for city water to be delivered. So I'm not sure about the maintenance side because a cistern is different. But well water is very hard, you'll need to use a good conditioner or your hair will feel like straw. It leaves deposits because it's doesn't go through a lot of filtering and want to get cleaners that are specific to lime. Your faucets will get clogged over time and you'll have to soak them. Also let your dentist know because it won't have fluoride and he may want to treat the kids teeth for that. Thank you for all of that information! That really helps! I know that both of the properties have a water softeners so hopefully that takes care of some of it. My best friend just moved to a new house and also has well water after growing up on city/town water our whole lives. She doesn't like the taste of it so will always have gallons or bottled water to drink.

guster, have the water tested. We don't drink the well water at my Dad's. He has a stock pile of bottled water...that actually proved to be quite beneficial when I was there last time with all the water shut off!

I know our real estate agent has a separate inspector for just the water, so I'm sure she'll advised us to use him as well as the other (I guess more general ) home inspector.

I love the taste, but you have to drink it immediately. If you let it sit in a glass, all the lime collects on the bottom and it's gross to drink/see.

I found out yesterday Jackson is playing us. He is fully potty trained at the sitters. Go in by himself without prompting and hasn't had an accident for a while. Last night, my dad watched them and he only had one accident. But for A and I, he has an accident every.single.time. WTF?!

guster we have well water and love it. We have a really good filtration system. We have had it tested and it’s good water! Even better is the pH in it is better for my acid reflux than bottled water. We’ve never had any issues with our system and we’ve lived here 9 years.

guster I hope you get in to see the houses soon! I have a dentist appointment today. I’m debating canceling it because I’m having acid reflux issues and have already thrown up today from it, and I haven’t even ate or drank anything yet. Calling the gastroenterologist today to revisit solutions. Oh yuck, the worst. I've been having similar issues. I just started back on omeprazol in hopes that'll help. I hope you find some relief!

All of my research is leaning to the idea that as long as you're maintaining it and/or having it checked periodically you will have no problems with it. It sounds like anything else that you requires work: If you let it go for too long, you'll end up with issues, but if you're diligent, then it's all good. But I appreciate a positive anecdote about it!

Got home from my dinner last night to find out M had a fever of 102. She woke me up twice last night and each time i took her temp it was normal. My MIL came over to watch her today and she sent me a text that her temp was 102.8 when she woke up. I scheduled a dr appt for 11. I wish I could have stayed home with her but we have court today and everyone is out with the flu.
H was coughing all night long. No fever yet though.

xolastunicornxo I'm sorry to hear about YH's grandmother. I would be leary of attending with C, unless you know you can keep her away from everyone wanting to hold her. Not only because of the flu but she hasn't had her 2 month shots yet either.

Morning! I'm checking in before work totally bogs me down. I'm also just trying to stay positive because I realized my mood plummeted as soon as I got to the office this morning. If this isn't something I'm willing to leave over or make my hill, I need to get over it. I've made my feelings clear so there's not much else to do. Re: well water. guster assuming you're still looking in the same general area you were talking about before, well water is super common. My town is a mix but we looked at tons of well/septic combos and that never factored into our decisions. And private garbage (but town recycling) is also the norm, along with no sidewalks or streetlights except on main roads. I've always lived in cities so it was all a bit weird to get used to, along with the quiet. LOL. I love it now though, it's so peaceful and the view of the stars from my own front porch is incredible.

We're actually in one of the even smaller towns that I didn't mention to you, but in the same general vicinity. All of the towns we were looking at in Connecticut are the same in terms of roads, garbage, wildlife, and wells, but very beautiful. It does feel like the right spot for us.

What is there other than private garbage? Town or city pick up. Here they pick up garbage Mondays and Thursdays and they do recycling Wednesday (glass and plastic Friday (paper)

It's only $20 a month, they pick up once a week. Day varies depending on where you are.

But I have an appointment with the gastro next week so hopefully we can figure something out because this sucks!

wineallthetime build your our soft shell taco? Bowls of lettuce, cucumbers, salsa, corn, chicken strips, cheese etc. That way minimal prep and everyone can tailor their own meal. Soup and bread with dips is my other go to.

Interesting. We have private garbage like peachsmama. Ours is picked up (garbage and recycling) on Thursday. Just on our street I think there are 5 different companies that come.

A mom just walked in to drop her daughter at dc and shes wearing a face mask.....does this mean she is sick or doesn't want to get sick? None of the kids are sick, so it makes me think she is sick. Probably means her daughter is carrying something that the other kids are going to get right? Should I start freaking out about flu? Cause I'm kind of freaking out now....

Morning! H has her valentines party today at school. I got a super cute dress and tights for her at Gymboree a few weeks ago that she will wear. My sister had a tonsillectomy yesterday so I might go visit her while H is at school. H has been a really big pain about putting things away lately. It’s driving me insane.

In house news: No signed contracts, yet. The paralegal thanks probably Wednesday, which I think means probably Friday. From pictures, video walk-throughs, and joining, stalking, and asking questions on a Facebook moms group,, I think I'm down to a specific town and two houses. Hoping we can get out to see them this weekend. They're both very similar -- Colonials, 4 bedrooms, lr,dr, eat in kitchen, sun room, family room, good decks, and a pool (!!). One is filled with a lot of dark wood (but surprisingly I don't mind it) and the other is a little more modern looking with more white trim and more traditional hard wood flooring. The basements need to be refinished in both, so it will come down to "feel" when we walk through. ah both sound lovely! Send them in my price range down here! Funny that pools can be very polarizing, that's on my DNW list - but I'm also lazy and pools take work, and I get nervous with little ones. Can't wait to hear which one you pick! Same. DNW a pool, would much rather have more yard space.
