Charlie yelled at 4:30 and then went back to bed until 515, but I've been up since that first sound. I went to bed really early last night so I feel rested, surprisingly. I'm hoping he goes down for an early nap today, so we can run around to do errands while Josie is in school. Hope everyone is still sleeping!

In house news: No signed contracts, yet. The paralegal thanks probably Wednesday, which I think means probably Friday. From pictures, video walk-throughs, and joining, stalking, and asking questions on a Facebook moms group,, I think I'm down to a specific town and two houses. Hoping we can get out to see them this weekend. They're both very similar -- Colonials, 4 bedrooms, lr,dr, eat in kitchen, sun room, family room, good decks, and a pool (!!). One is filled with a lot of dark wood (but surprisingly I don't mind it) and the other is a little more modern looking with more white trim and more traditional hard wood flooring. The basements need to be refinished in both, so it will come down to "feel" when we walk through.

guster, I want a sunroom! Some houses in our neighborhood have them and MH and I are always jealous. A pool would be so nice too.

Morning! I'm up with the kids watching Olof's Frozen Adventure. We stayed home in pjs all day yesterday, so we definitely need to get out today!

We've been so used to having our version of a sunroom here that once we saw them in the other houses we knew it was on our "must have" list. It's really exciting to me to have a pool, so I have to ask myself every time I look at a house if I like it just because it has a pool. Thankfully, I would like both of these houses even if they didn't.

Funny that pools can be very polarizing, that's on my DNW list - but I'm also lazy and pools take work, and I get nervous with little ones. Can't wait to hear which one you pick!

I'd love to have one and wouldn't mind the cleaning and taking care of it, but I'd worry about all the costs that come with a pool! My parents had an amazing pool when I was growing up, but it had a lot of things go wrong with it and they put thousands and thousands of dollars into it, so that's always made me nervous to have a pool myself!

tallb, they are a lot of work, and we will probably have to work with a company to learn how to properly care for the pool for at least the first few years. I do like the idea that our summer entertainment can be right in our own backyard.

guster, my friend has a pool and they just live in it in the summer! The kids are always in it! Her 4 year old and 2 year old can both swim independently with puddle jumpers, so she's able to just sit with her coffee and watch while they get good and tired out!

guster both those houses sound lovely. Can't wait to hear which one you pick. Will you share photos once you get close on something? House hunting is so stressful, but also so exciting. Let us live vicariously. sands42 That reminds me, how's the house hunting coming along for you?

Morning! Everyone is up super early, so I'm going to try and make some blueberry muffins for breakfast. DH and I were looking at quick, drivable getaways for spring break last night. I would love to do the Great Smoky Mountains or Mammoth Caves in KY, but I will also be 8 months pregnant at that time, so maybe I am being ambitious about being in the car for 7-9 hours and hiking around a national park. Le sigh.

Morning ladies! guster the houses sound great! When we were house hunting, we saw a couple houses with pools and I was drawn to them, like, I overlooked crappy parts of the house because I loved the pool. We didn't end up getting either of the houses we looked at that had them, but it is something I'd like to do someday. I just imagine hanging out, having drinks with friends/neighbors every weekend, while the kids swim and wear themselves out. And a pool guy to take care of it all! My mom and step dad have a sunroom and they use it all the time. Evie is staying the night with grandparents since they are watching her today and tomorrow and live about 30 minutes from us, no need to drive back and forth both days. H is out of town for the night, so I have the house to myself this evening. I'm debating messaging my friends and seeing if they want to go the local bar for tacos and drinks, or if I just stay home by myself and eat super healthy. I'd like to see my friends, but I always plan stuff, then as the day goes on, I wish I hadn't, because I just really enjoy my alone time. I'm hoping my coffee will help me decide.

My builder offers an addition kit and has a sunroom option that it so cute! But A thinks our house is to big as it is so I doubt he would ever go for it lol.

dapostrophe, I will -- as soon as I pick. I really appreciate all the feedback I've gotten so far. These houses have some things that are not really prevalent here – like well water and private garbage pick up so I'm sure I will have more questions as I do more more research.

I know we have talked about this a lot in the past, but dinner ideas for L's birthday party? We typically cater, but thought we could save cost. Only about 15 people. We'll definitely have appitizers and dessert as well. Ideas so far:
-pulled chicken, mac n cheese, sides -ham and cheese sliders (some just cheese), salad, fruit, a pasta of some sort.
My family and I aren't big on a big Italian meal, so I stay away from lasagna and such. Last year I did a big quasadilla bar which turned out to be a bit of a pain.

I got to work 20 minutes late but boss was 30 minutes late so oh well. I woke up late (and in a panic over a dream) and then the kids did not want to get moving. M woke me up at 4 am and asked me to turn on the TV. I told him in a minute, knowing he would roll over and go back to bed and he did. But this morning he woke up PISSED that I never turned it on for him and threw a fit about going potty and leaving the house. J also melted down about leaving.

And I like a meal at a party that can just be grazed on instead of needing to sit down and eat it.

I had a dream that they changed the names on the house colors.. So when our house arrived it was brown- not grey. So I woke up in a panic and had to check the vendor site to be sure that they didn't change the color names. Lord.

I agree on more of a graze type meal, especially since we typically go heavy on the appitizers!

@wine, - You could always do a big pot of chili, cornbread and all the toppings. Big make ahead sandwiches like a muffuletta that you could then cut into wedges, serve it with a big salad, chips, cheese platters with things like roasted red peppers, olives, and pickles. Or even do a crockpot soup with it. Couple of big pieces of salmon that you bake or poach, pasta or potato salad (I think I would serve vinegar base instead of mayo ones) with roasted broccoli or asparagus. - A triple tomato soup and make ahead grilled cheese sandwiches. If you choose to go this route, there's a incredible tasty video but I'm dying to try the next time we have people over. I'll link it after I post this. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2229509887301648&id=1614251518827491

From what I'm learning, as long as you have at least an acre property and there's a good space between the well water and the septic system and you get it checked frequently (with a really good inspector to start the process) it's just about regular maintenance.

guster I hope you get in to see the houses soon! I have a dentist appointment today. I’m debating canceling it because I’m having acid reflux issues and have already thrown up today from it, and I haven’t even ate or drank anything yet. Calling the gastroenterologist today to revisit solutions.

Well, H isn't out of town tonight, so that solves that issue. Maybe him and I will go get tacos, since I didn't set anything out for dinner, thinking he was going to be gone.

We have well water, I can give you some tips/guidance on dealing with that. From what I'm learning, as long as you have at least an acre property and there's a good space between the well water and the septic system and you get it checked frequently (with a really good inspector to start the process) it's just about regular maintenance. We don't have a well, we have a cistern. But we haul well water to it instead of paying for city water to be delivered. So I'm not sure about the maintenance side because a cistern is different. But well water is very hard, you'll need to use a good conditioner or your hair will feel like straw. It leaves deposits because it's doesn't go through a lot of filtering and want to get cleaners that are specific to lime. Your faucets will get clogged over time and you'll have to soak them. Also let your dentist know because it won't have fluoride and he may want to treat the kids teeth for that.
