I have my 12 week appointment this afternoon. I'm super thankful for that because I used my doppler in an act of paranoia this morning and wasn't able to find the HB. I'm anxious now, though. I hope you feel better soon vvvvvfee.

I'm waiting for it to be late enough to make my pizza.
I made my homemade pizza on Saturday and it was so good I wanted it again today. 🤣

I'm so sleepy. I'm trying to figure out when we need to get started clearing out our spare room/how long that's going to take.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone!
So, baby is ok and HB was at 150! I'm very relieved about that. However, my OB has strongly recommended a C-section this time around due to details around my previous labor. My DS had a birth injury and as a result has Erbs Palsy in his left arm. Well, my OB informed me it's most likely because of the position of my pelvis and recommended that I opt for a C-section to avoid any injury for this baby. Also, I had a pretty severe 3rd degree tear where a vaginal birth could cause further damage and incontinence which is also why she recommends it. I mean, I know C-sections aren't a bad thing but I'm just really bummed. I really wanted a vaginal birth but it's not going to happen. I didn’t expect talk of a C-section at all.
Also, I failed my one hour glucose test. The passing result needed to be 130 or under and I got a 132. So, I need to go back for a 3 hour test on Thursday. I knew this was going to happen but I secretly had hope I wouldn't have to deal with it this time around.
Obviously I'm really happy baby sounds great and everything seems to be good there, but I'm really sad about everything else and have been feeling down since. It doesn't help that with my boss leaving suddenly, that I'm bombarded at work and was flooded with meetings and calls after my appointment. I mean, I had managers texting me for help while I was at my appointment. Like, I had no time to be sad and soak it all in.
It sounds stupid but I wanted to cry after my appointment. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer.
tl:dr - I was surprised by the news that I need to have a C-section and have feelings about it.

cara I'm so happy to hear that baby is doing good! I'm sorry you didn't receive the news you wanted surrounding your delivery options. I know it's a lot to take it all in at once, and it doesn't help that you had a stressful day at work on top of that, but know that in the end you'll still have a little squish to take home and your doctor is only looking out what's best for the two of you. It's ok to be sad or cry and we are here for you.

cornflakegirl - Yes, that’s absolutely right and need to focus on that. I know this is the wrong way to think about it, but I already have permanent pain around my vagina after my previous labor and now this will be another area with permanent damage and pain. However, I’d way rather have that than any injury to my baby that could be a cause of a non-functioning arm or neurological damage. Not to mention incontinence for me as well. Thank you for the support ❤️

cara, I failed my early 1hr with my second baby but passed the 3hr. I did end up with GD when tested again at 28w, but It was a lot easier to manage the second time around. I was supposed to have my early test last week, but someone forgot to put the request in so now I get to take it in a couple of weeks. After having agD twice i’m Sure I will have it again in the 3rd trimester, but fingers crossed on being cleared for another couple of months! Also commiseration hugs on the severe 3rd degree tearing - I had the same with my first and recovery was a b!tch. Surprisingly, when DS was born 3yrs later, he was 19oz bigger (8lb12.5oz, DD was only 7lb9.5oz) and I only had minor 2nd degree tearing which was a breeze in comparison. I did need a vacuum extraction which was something I thought I’d never agree to, but his stats were dropping (short cord). They were prepping the OR for a c-section, so it was my only option. Luckily it worked with no negative effects...even though it wasn’t the ideal birthing experience, it all worked out and DS is perfect. Totally understand the feels though.

cara it’s definitely acceptable to grieve the birth you wanted. This won’t cloud the rest of the pregnancy though. So glad baby’s doing great!

ohreally that's nice that you get a private room! It's a first and I've done this test five times before. There were so many people wearing masks in the waiting room that I'm glad to be here and not there.

cara, glad everything is ok with baby but sorry about your other news. is there any way to wait until baby is bigger and see if size/position would be more favorable for labor this time? or maybe get a 2nd opinion from another doctor? obviously you want to have the best outcome for everyone, but maybe having more info or another opinion would help you feel better about it.

I have this purple sweater dress/tunic that I wore with leggings during my first pregnancy. The last time I wore it my mom told me I had a bubble butt (I do have a huge ass, but still....) and totally ruined it for me. I put it on this morning and immediately changed. I'm still mad at her for ruining it.
My belly is uncomfortably tight lately. So much stretching happening.

vvvvvfee - I think I would do that if I didn't have complete confidence in my current doctor. I trust her and she's a highly sought after OB. I do trust her judgement. When we had DS, we lived in a different city so she did not have a part in my first delivery. She did say she's going to request the notes from DS's birth so she is able to better understand what happened. We agreed that she'd first take a look at the notes and we'd discuss a final decision from there, but I just have a gut feeling that a C-section will be the outcome.

MH still makes fun of me because when I was pregnant with ds I started crying and said "my back and butt are even". I have no butt whatsoever.

I'm telling my boss & coworkers tomorrow. I'm not really nervous but I hope my boss doesn't get upset that I'm not telling her ahead of time.
