H is annoying the crap out of me for no reason in particular. I kind of feel sorry for him since I tend to be more irritable with him.

I guess I passed my glucose test yesterday. They only did a fasting and two hour draw. I got a concerned call from the nurse yesterday afternoon because my two hour result came back at 36! I think it has to be an error. Sure, I was dizzy but who isn't after a fasting glucose test? . I had a reading of 35 with my first and a 38 with my second pregnancy. That being said I was very very sick after the test both times. I thought I might have to go to the ER the first time I was so disoriented, shaking, and just totally out of it. I am getting up the nerve to ask not to take the test this time, I really think it is dangerous for me, my body just acts like an asshole when I do it. I have read you can do finger sticks at home for 2 weeks (4 times a day) and review those results with your OB. I’d pick that approach in a heartbeat. Wow! That sound awful! I hope two data points are enough for them to try a different approach. I've been testing at home periodically, and based on those results, I don't have GD yet.

My testing came back and I'm low risk (less than 1/10,000) and it's a boy! I'm so relieved, ever since we were flagged this has been weighing on us heavily.

I’m sitting in my OB’s office waiting for to complete my 3 hour glucose test. That drink was gross and now I feel crappy. I’m trying to work though since I brought my computer.

Does anyone else get super uncomfortable at night? My skin stretches so much that it feels like it's going to burst like a balloon. So much this. I'm fine in the morning by with all the food and the baby during the day, my belly is done by the time I go to bed. I'm kinda thinking I might need a support belt, or maybe I just need to wear maternity pants that hold everything up for me!

Heavy post ahead...
My heart hurts today. Between a couple of things at work and the school shooting, I have just lost all faith in humanity. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking bringing innocent children into such a cruel world, but I try to tell myself it's so I can raise them to do better.

PennyCandy I feel you. Sometimes I just can't believe how things are. It's 2018 and it feels like 1958. The shootings are just horrific. It makes me scared to send my future son off to school in 5ish years. I hate guns, I hate politicians who do nothing, and I especially hate that the person in charge doesn't give AF.

Such a relief. Just finished up my 12 week appointment. There's a baby kicking around in there with a heart rate of 160!
I am thankful I will never again have to endure the agony of waiting for confirmation of a heartbeat at the 12 week appointment!

so i got to daycare this morning to drop off DS2, saw on their whiteboard in the vestibule that 8 kids were out with stomach flu, and i turned around and walked back out, lol. DS1 was already home with my mom for school vacation, so luckily i could just drop him over there. now i'm praying that DS2 doesn't already have the germs from yesterday.

PennyCandy, me too. Except I'm more angry than anything. The fact that the lawmakers' bottom dollar means more to them than our children's lives. That their rights mean more than babies dying. I'm not even advocating for banning all guns. I just want better control. 18 shootings in less than 2 months. It breaks my heart. And most of these shootings didn't make the news. That's how numb our society is now. it's sickening.

The elementary school that is our “assigned” district was on lockdown this morning due to teenagers in the woods with guns nearby. Makes me sick that there are kids inspired by such violence yesterday. Unfortunately, that area his frequent problems with crime and the quality of the school is horrible (1 out of 10).
DD starts kindergarten later this year and we’ve applied to a regional magnet year-round (which is actually much closer to our home than our assigned school - we kind of got screwed on the efforts to diversify area schools. Normally those who live nearby are pretty much guaranteed a spot, but this year NC passed new class-size reductions without giving the schools any extra money for additional teachers or classrooms, so significantly fewer students will be accepted.
I’m terrified that she won’t get in and I’ll need to quit my job to homeschool or look into an expensive private school.

I am scared to death to send DS to pre-k in the fall! I try not to think about it to much but when I do it terrifies me and I just want to cry. I just can't believe that in this day and age we have to worry about shootings in our schools. This was not on anyone's radar when I went to school. I just want to keep him home and in a bubble!

I need to buy more maternity pants. I am wearing a pair I saved from when I was pregnant with DD and it is heaven today.

I'm with you PennyCandy . I've been really down about the shooting and am questioning my faith in humanity as well. I have been for a while now. It's all about money. Until there is an organization that comes along with more money in their pockets than the NRA, we're not going to see an improvement with gun control. The only way is if we vote for elected officials that are willing to do something about it. But, that even feels like it's far fetched because there are so many wedge issue voters that will only vote for someone who is aligned with them regarding that issue. Those voters don't tend to be the most progressive and the officials aren't typically the type of officials that are going to refuse money from the NRA. Anyway, I've typically kept up quite a bit with politics but now I have to watch from afar. Especially being pregnant now, I get way too upset. If I let myself think about things too much, it's not good for my health.

Well I passed! My numbers were good after the second draw so I was able to skip the third and leave early! But, I'll have to test again at 24 weeks. Womp womp.

I saw that Babies R Us was having a contest where you could win $2500 if you created a registry in January. So I created one. I just got a call from them and the woman started by saying "Congratulations... On your pregnancy" and invited me in if I needed help with my registry. What a tease!! 😂

cara, Yay! So glad they let you go early! With my first, I failed after the first two hours and they didn't tell me until the three hours were up and didn't do the final draw. Why'd they make me suffer another hour?? I've since changed doctors and the office only offers the two hour test. I can see how some women would be upset not having the option to do the one hour, but you can't please everyone.

I have been extra sneezy today and just feeling blah. My throat is starting to hurt a bit also. I'm hoping it's not going to turn into a full blown sinus thing. And go figure that I've done my neti pot three days in a row.
A coworker yesterday mentioned something about thinking he had the flu and was standing very close to me while saying it. So I'm taking my temperature twice a day for the next few days JIC.

Ugh, I have to do a 24-hour urine test next week, due to my blood pressure being slightly elevated at my last couple of appointments.

Knock on wood the kids have remained fairly healthy this flu season despite the constant notifications of flu, RSV, and pink eye at daycare. I better not bring germs home from work!
