I walked the length of the trail under/next to them and didn't really notice any noise or buzzing. But it's basically what I'm worried about. Was there a lot of traffic noise? I wonder if you might notice it more at night. Or maybe the house is well-insulated and sound-proofed and you won’t even notice it most of the time. Pretty quiet neighborhood. Plus everyone was at work, so not much commute traffic happening to make it louder. The biggest downfalls to the house are the power lines and that it's also under the flight path. But effing everything is under the flight path and apparently I'm just really overly aware of it.

I am going to drop this here as I do every now and then to give some insight to why I feel the way I do -
My male BFF - his son had to have someone lay down with him to fall asleep. This started as at maybe one. I know he was still doing this at age 12.
My college roommate - her daughter still gets up in the morning and comes into her room and bed in the wee hours. She is now 15.
this is the same child who if we were over and talking or having game night would literally climb up on her mother to be held so she could be rocked to sleep. The last time I saw this with my own eyes the child was 8.
My ex's little sister slept in the bed with her mother until age 15 and dad slept on the floor or on the couch. She had a whole full size bed in her room. Great décor. Right across the hall.
Now, KOKO.

I signed up for a freshmen-level linguistics class as an elective, and I think I may have made a tiny huge mistake. I majored in linguistics. First year classes were majorly boring. I'm so sorry. Is it just not what you expected, too sleep-inducing, or too hard to follow? I didn't love it until the more focused courses.

This. So much this. I know someone who still lies in bed with her kid (4 years old) until he falls asleep because (she thinks) he can't fall asleep without someone there. I was aghast when she told me. It can apparently take up to two hours for this 'routine' to finish. Do not do that to yourself, hufflepug. If something else worked, I'd be doing it. It's not every night, just recently. I put her to bed at 7 and she's been waking 2-3 hours later and won't settle back down unless I'm in there. I've read all the books and consulted all the people and doctors and we've had all the tests done. She's just a shitty sleeper who doesn't respond to CIO so I can stay in there and get some sleep and she can get lots of sleep, or I can go in my room and be wide awake while she screams and pukes and screams some more. Don't think this is a choice or anything other than a desperate last ditch effort. Solidarity. Sounds like you’re in survival mode and have a terrible sleeper. My DS was the same, CIO was never going to work. We did a modified Sleep Lady Shuffle when he was about your DDs age.

Not in the sense that the hand holding is a good idea. More in terms of what sleep training would be better for her age. Yes, you are right.

Good lord, @humptydance . That teacher needs some PD on how to accommodate students with attention needs in the classroom. At that age especially, nothing you can do at home is going to fix it at school. The teacher needs to start putting routines in place to help your kid out when and where the issues arise (if you need suggestions to bring up - like body/mental breaks, breaking work down into chunks, providing an inflatable cushion to sit on to engage muscles while working, etc.) I agree. Lilly’s 2nd grade teacher was amazing, had experience with how to teach ADHD kids and did everything you said and even though it helped some she still struggled with her focus and we ended up deciding to start her on meds. She also didn’t use the behavior chart as a punishment for not focusing like her 1st grade teacher. I see The same pattern happening again with Carolyn’s teacher and it irritates me that it’s become this vicious cycle of her constantly ending the day on yellow or orange because she never seems to meet his standards instead of him realizing that her lack of focus and staying on task or disrupting behavior is not intentional. Which basically leads me to believe his complaints to me is his way of saying I need to medicate her already. I bought both of the girls have inflatable cushions a few years ago but he gives me the impression that he would complain it was a distraction. The school has rocker chairs and wobble seats but I haven't seen any in his classroom. He complained that she was shaking her hair back and forth and distracting kids around her. I’ll ask about the chairs though. Oh, and she told me he told her he didn’t have time to sit there and babysit her all day.

I guess if I’m being honest with myself, this is currently in my backyard. So it’s still power lines one way or another.

The potential of having this literally in the backyard offsets the huge power lines, right? We have power lines right by us and I don't care about them at all.

I would like bedtime now. Hers or mine, I'm not picky. The only way my kid has been sleeping lately is if I'm holding her hand so I've been sleeping on her floor, one hand through the crib slats holding her hand or patting her back. This needs to stop. This was also my face reading it lol

We’re in a small town but there are power lines everywhere because everything is so old. I never even think about it or notice it. It still feels quiet and rural lol

AE. They’re super soft but I need some compression to suck me in. These have none. Have you tried the compression ones from Old Navy? They are magic. I just realized I have capris, though, not yoga pants. Not sure if they come in that style so this could be very unhelpful.

I feel the key to sleep training is (whatever method you pick) start early and repeat often.

Have mercy.
We will let C sleep with us sometimes because she craves snuggles, but it’s like once a month, and she has to go to sleep first.
I thought I was a softie.

I had about eighteen thousand copies of the IPA chart and referred to them often because there was no way I was memorizing them in first year.
