My h and DS are both in moods so it’s like oil and water in my house right now with them. Of course h’s mood is because he’s too tired from last night.

I would like bedtime now. Hers or mine, I'm not picky. The only way my kid has been sleeping lately is if I'm holding her hand so I've been sleeping on her floor, one hand through the crib slats holding her hand or patting her back. This needs to stop.

Good lord, @humptydance . That teacher needs some PD on how to accommodate students with attention needs in the classroom. At that age especially, nothing you can do at home is going to fix it at school. The teacher needs to start putting routines in place to help your kid out when and where the issues arise (if you need suggestions to bring up - like body/mental breaks, breaking work down into chunks, providing an inflatable cushion to sit on to engage muscles while working, etc.) I mean we don't know what the teacher has or has not been doing. That being said, if you have been dealing with this since the beginning of the school year and it's now February and nothing has changed then you do what as a teacher? Don't say anything to anyone? Continue to let it affect how she teaches the other students etc?
All I am saying it's tough all around and I wouldn't jump to the teacher not doing enough.

H just got home and called to say the floor guys had to relevel our bedroom floor, which means we have no bedroom until the cement hardens. Air mattress in the living room tonight then

I don't have the kind of free time it would entail to shut my night down when my kids' night ends nor do I want to.

Hello! Today has been a good day. Mostly because the baby slept 9-7:30 with only one wake up at 4 am. I feel like a new person!
Also, I have tidied up a bit, done the majority of the laundry other than one last load, and prepped my snacks for the week. Oh and got a good workout in.
I am making Chinese BBQ pork with cauli rice and peas for dinner, which sounds good right about now. I still have a couple hours before dinner.
I wasn't really planning on having wine, but the Bachelor is on tonight so I will be having a glass.

I scared the crap out of DD during dinner. I took too big a bite of food and it got stuck. The noises I was making over the sink trying to get it out we're very loud so H had to console her.

That's fair. You're right that we don't know what he's been doing. I made assumptions about his approach given the details in the post and based my response on that. I would certainly mention it to parents if these were behaviours I was seeing, of course, and expect every teacher to communicate home if there are issues in the classroom. Behaviour clip charts generally don't help kids with attention issues, though (IME), and saying she "doesn't care about the consequences" suggested (to me) that he thinks she's willfully misbehaving. That's where I was coming from.

Go to bed. Or don't. I don't really care what my kid does when I shut his door at night because I'm not in there.

I’m here. I’ve been MIA a bit due to life and a short vacation we just got back from. MIL is cooking us dinner right now and DD2 is about to go to bed. Looking forward to a quiet evening at home.

Someone I used to post with co-slept with her kid so when he went to bed, she was stuck in bed too. No, just no.

IDK. This is her 5th book and she was an editor with Vogue so she’s not nobody, but I also think I might not have read her books if I didn’t know her my whole life lol.

I don't have the kind of free time it would entail to shut my night down when my kids' night ends nor do I want to. This. So much this. I know someone who still lies in bed with her kid (4 years old) until he falls asleep because (she thinks) he can't fall asleep without someone there. I was aghast when she told me. It can apparently take up to two hours for this 'routine' to finish. Do not do that to yourself, hufflepug.

I mean I was criticized for how I ran bedtime in the past so I know I'm on my island.
One thing I know, your ass better get up in the morning or there will be hell to pay.
Full disclosure - empty threat cause I am not here most mornings and they get themselves up and out on their own in the mornings.

Maybe I'll have a shitty sleeper this time and have to eat all my words.

my across the street neighbour sleeps on his kids floor every night and has done since he went into his own room. The child is nearly 5! I don't think i did a good job of hiding my WTF face when the mom told me that

I put her to bed at 7 and she's been waking 2-3 hours later and won't settle back down unless I'm in there. I've read all the books and consulted all the people and doctors and we've had all the tests done. She's just a shitty sleeper who doesn't respond to CIO so I can stay in there and get some sleep and she can get lots of sleep, or I can go in my room and be wide awake while she screams and pukes and screams some more. Don't think this is a choice or anything other than a desperate last ditch effort.

I wonder if you might notice it more at night. Or maybe the house is well-insulated and sound-proofed and you won’t even notice it most of the time.

I have no dog in this fight since I've always just put my kid in his room and he will fall asleep eventually but what do you do when the kid physically makes them self sick from crying? I remember this coming up with so called "spirited children" before and how do you handle it?
