What's new?
I had a miserable weekend. Found out on Friday that I have strep (my kids and H had it about 2 weeks ago)-- DH took the kids to the doctor on Saturday and it turns out they have it AGAIN. We spent so much time sanitizing the house this weekend. I had a sinus headache all day Sunday, and then I got horrible heartburn/stomach pain after taking my antibiotic with not enough food in my stomach. So Sunday night I was exhausted and getting DS2 ready for bed, and he said he had to poop, so I was trying to put him on the potty, except he didn't want to sit on the potty (we are just starting to PT him), and so before I could wrestle him onto it, he pooped on the rug, then stepped in it and tracked it around in like 5 places. Then last night I slept like crap bc of my stomach. That is my sad tale of woe. Hope you all had a better time over the weekend than I did...

vvvvvfee, I'm sorry. I hope you have a better week and are feeling better soon. I've been headache free for a few days! I started 250 mg of Magnesium and I've been drinking a small bottle of Gatorade a day. I really hope it continues. I've been getting super stuffy and my throat has been sore, but only at night. I keep thinking I have a cold, but during the day I'm fine. DS is still coughing and his lungs sound pretty course, but he's acting ok. He's actually been in a really good mood so he must feel ok.

I was able to find the baby's heartbeat on my fetal doppler today!! I was getting so anxious and this really put me at ease. Yay! I've used it three times and it's been around the same place each time. Still takes me forever to hear it. I think it's since the baby is still so so small.

I'm on day five of no unisom/B6. I still notice the nausea and gaggy feeling but it's managable. I miss the amazing unisom sleep though. 😂 I have half a box left and I'll be saving it for when the insomnia gets really bad. And still have like a billion B6 pills left lol.

I took DS to the pedi this morning. I had him tested for the flu and was nervous of possible bronchitis. He tested negative for the flu and no bronchitis!!! I'm so relieved, he was having these horrible coughing fits, at times almost gasping for air or gagging. He barely slept the last 2 days because he kept waking up due to all the coughing. He's napping now and hopefully will get to sleep.

vvvvvfee, I hope your home is germ free soon. That sounds like a terrible weekend. cara, Glad to hear you have some peace of mind! PennyCandy, Now that you have the headaches under control, I hope you don't get a cold! You need a break from the misery. goldenbird, Unisom will be in my arsenal come third trimester (when the insomnia usually gets bad for me). cornflakegirl, Glad your son tested positive for the bad stuff. Hope he gets some good rest and gets over whatever he has soon.

Just another snowy Monday here. My husband is in India so of course my kid gets sent home Friday from daycare for puking at lunch and we have measureable snow today. Thankfully whatever DS2 had was no big deal and no one else in the house got sick. And my dad volunteered to come shovel our drive once the snow stops tonight.
It really does take a village to raise these kids despite how stubborn and independent I want to be.

So I feel kind of gross girl about this but wanted to see if anyone else is dealing with it. Since getting KU, I've been having issues with dandruff, which has never been a problem before. I have a haircut scheduled for tomorrow and I kind of want to cancel until I can get it under control. I ordered some sulfate free shampoo this morning in hopes that'll help.

My hair was so oily that I had a lot of buildup. I’m not sure if you’d classify this as dandruff but I had to start washing my hair everyday. It seems better now that I’m in second trimester. Also, I know a few others thought that this means you’re having a girl, which turned out true for me.

My scalp is too dry, not oily. I think washing every day may dry out my scalp even more. I’m hoping this new shampoo works otherwise I need to find another way to moisturize it. It feels strange because it’s opposite of what I’ve had to deal with.

I hope your hairdresser can help!

I've had terrible flaking since DD was born 5 years ago. Even prescription strength steroid stuff doesn't help. I need to see a dermatologist. Sulfate-free shampoo did reduce it for a bit, but obviously everyone is different I guarantee your stylist has seen worse and may have some tips. I'd definitely keep the appt.

I spent the entire day cleaning and disinfecting everything. I stripped everyone's beds and washed the sheets and comforters in Lysol disinfecting detergent.
I mopped all the floors twice. Vacuumed. Replaced sheets.
I am exhausted.

Thank you notmoose 😊 His pedi said that it is a virus. I'm just so relieved that it's not worse than that. I tell you, his coughing last night really scared me, you feel so helpless when they're like that 😢 His sleep has been crap all day though. He woke up 3 times from his nap and tonight I think 3 or 4 times already. My heart is breaking for him because he so desperately wants to sleep. How are you guys doing?

I'm on edge that I'm starting to get the flu. Sore throat got so bad last night that I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Then I took a nap, which rarely happens unless I'm sick, and I woke up aching all over and burning hot and shivering. No fever though. My appetite is gone. I've had 3 eggs today, and some steamed broccoli and white rice.
Is echinacea safe to drink as a tea while pregnant? Google is giving me varying answers.

cornflakegirl - Poor little guy 😞 It’s the worst feeling when you see them feeling like that and there’s nothing you can do. I hope he feels better soon! We’re just coming out of flu/strep which took DS out for the entire week so I feel your pain. kaeguri - I hope whatever you have goes away quickly and that it’s not the flu!

I'm sad I didn't save Starbucks for today. I could use the extra pick me up. Tea doesn't sound good and the coffee here sucks.
DS1 has been so damn cute and happy the last few days, it's making melt. Some days I wonder how I'm going to love another child as much as him. That might make me a terrible mom, but it's true. There's not much cuter than a toddler saying good morning, please, thank you, and you're welcome. He was going through a book with animals this morning and said camel and snake too. It's amazing how quickly they pick up new words.

Not sure about echinacea, but please call your doctor. CDC is recommending that pregnant women take Tamiflu. Hope you feel better soon.
