Here-ish. Internet on the ship is crappy and we are having a fairly unplugged vacation. Hope everyone is having a great week!

I picked up Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn: The Complete Guide at a garage sale this weekend. Pretty stoked, especially for Ina May. The mom selling them said she loved them and they were great help. Also found the childbirth class at my hospital. I won't go until October, but feeling less anxious about the unknown! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I read both of those when I was pregnant with DD. Didn't get to use much of the advice since I ended up with a C-section, but I think they would have been really helpful!

Earlier tonight:
DD- Can we have C-A-K-E before bed?
DS- Yeah, can we have Q-R-S-H?
A for effort, buddy.

I'm sorry bubbles. A cancer diagnosis is so hard. Can you make plans to go see him before baby arrives? He was discharged from the hospital and will be staying with my parents for awhile. I'm going to make a trip later this week or early next week.

I want to read a book, about a calm birth. Like ways to calm yourself and to keep things going smoothly... something like that.
Any ideas?
I was a wreck with DS and want a very calm birth this time... I need to get in the mental space for it since I know what's coming

beefinch yea I'm leaning toward inappropriate. The parents don't actually go to church, it's mostly for the grandparents and great grandparents (which I have a lot of feelings about but is apparently the norm for many people these days).

I am so tired. The soccer game went on too late and they were playing in the dark. Plus I got up to pee at 430 and couldn't fall back asleep.
Ds3 is playing with Legos and he keeps screaming the colors at me.

2nd long day at work is about to begin. I'm exhausted and just do not feel great. I have one meeting that I would love to reschedule and just stay home. Tomorrow is another long day at work too.

Trying to catch up! Yay for a girl bethkateSorry for the crummy news bubblesWork was a friggin shit show yesterday and I expect that will continue this evening. I woke up feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. I'm sore all over and I think I'm coming down with a cold. As for drugs, I've done one with an epidural and one with no meds. The epidural was amazing, I didn't feel a thing. However the recover sans meds was amazing. I was home in 4 hours. I'm undecided how I want to do this one.

So I looked into the Bradley method and I would murder my husband if he tried to talk me through labor or do breathing exercises with me, so I think that's out unless I get a doula. I did really like the being aware of what is going on at each stage in your body during labor (I researched extensively pre-birth so knew what was up). I stay very much in my own head when in a large amount of pain and am not into others speaking to me, except nurses because they are strangers who don't deserve to be spoken to in a mean way. I'm with you beefinch , looking for a calm birth. They only needed to put the O2 mask on me as I was about the start pushing so I think I kept it together well, but am looking for ways to improve. The transition part of labor got to me. Pushing was a delight. I think it's going to come down to meditation or something for me since I know that I do not like people speaking to me and prefer to stay in my own head. ETA: According to some quick research, apparently I was already in the transition stage when I got my epi. This is all starting to make sense now lmao.

grumpycat I'm exactly like you with the staying with my own head when in a large amount of pain. I didn't want DH or my mum talking/touching me. See I had a hard birth and basically got forced by my mum to have an epidural 14 hours in as they had to start pitocin (spelling?) as I was still 4cm. So I didn't feel any pain after that. Ideally I want a med free birth (if I have to have epidural again then whatever) and for it to be calm, collected and quick. That is my hope anyway. But when it comes down to it I don't care how it happens just as long as DD comes out healthy and safely. I just want to read a lot more about it and be prepared mentally this time around

Ok so my mom is taking me shopping for maternity clothes today. What do I need? I wear business casual at work and casual on the weekends. I'm thinking 2 pairs of work pants, shorts/capris, jeans, some work tops and cardigans so I can get away with tanks underneath, and t shirts. I already have a few sweaters I got on sale and am waiting for my dresses from Old Navy to come in.

That sounds good laurensc927! It's probably good timing for us November moms because it'll be a season change for most of us once we start feeling super huge, so we will have to get a few new things anyway Let me know if you find any good cardis, I need a few more to wear with dresses/tanks.

laurensc927 maternity underwear (is very low in the front so it stays under your bump) and maternity leggings (also very low in the front to stay under your bump though they make both with a panel too).

Has anyone done a sex reveal (for yourselves) in a cutesy way? Sorry if this was discussed before; there are a couple weeks of randoms that I just missed. We have our anatomy scan on Thursday and this is what I'm thinking we'll do: Ask them at the appointment to not tell us and write it down. Go to a clothing store, H will pick out a newborn boy outfit, I'll pick out a newborn girl one. We will ask the store clerk to look at the sex and just ring us up for the appropriate outfit and wrap it up. We will then go out for dinner that night and open it up. Sound fun? We just found out in the room with DD so I wanted to do something a little different and liked the idea of finding out with just our little family.

I got a couple of maxi skirts last time and they were super comfortable especially in the summer time. I think mine were from Old Navy.

Aw I love feeling little baby kicks. This is the forth or fifth time I've felt a definite kick from her, she seems to be very active in the evenings!

librarylady we're doing similar except with a build a bear and outfit. I want DS to help make the bear- he will also get to make one for himself. As for the "reveal" it will be just us, not other family. With DS we did cupcakes with extended family but my H really didn't want to- so this time it'll be low key!

librarylady, the cake filled with blue or pink candies is popular in my extended family. There's also usually a party associated with it. I like your idea much better. I feel similarly to peggels24 about sex reveals. beefinch, apparently babies are super active between 9pm-1am because your blood sugar is dropping as you get ready to sleep. I love the kicks (until they get uncomfortable and painful somewhere in 3rd tri). DH just keeps missing them. It's his favorite part about me being pregnant. Like he doesn't care about the ultrasounds, he's all about feeling the kicks.

grumpycat oh I never knew that. DS was always an evening mover as well. I would get a couple movements in the morning, pretty much nothing all day apart from a couple kicks when eating/drinking and then he would go mad in the evening. Wouldn't mind if his little sister was that way also!
