I was able to get out of the house this morning while the kids were still sleeping. #momgoals I didn't eat breakfast for fear I'd wake them up. I grabbed a muffin on th way to work. It makes an easier morning if I can get out of the house before they wake. No tears. No arguing. I enjoy it immensely.

I picked up Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn: The Complete Guide at a garage sale this weekend. Pretty stoked, especially for Ina May. The mom selling them said she loved them and they were great help. Also found the childbirth class at my hospital. I won't go until October, but feeling less anxious about the unknown!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I took a childbirth class with DD, and highly recommend it. I learned so much and it definitely eased my fears. I don't think I would have made it med free if I hadn't taken it. I hope yours is just as beneficial.

fancy, I've heard that's a great book, and my midwife just recommended The Birth Partner for both of us to read too. bubbles, my friend who took one here said it was like 90% talking about all the available drugs you can take ??? so I was thinking of skipping it. Although I'm sure there are others to take too.

I hope work is less insane this week so I can actually chat with you guys! I've been reading, but just behind and too tired to comment and be relevant!

Ds1's first soccer game of the season is tonight and it's so wet and gross outside. I know they won't cancel, so I get to sit in mud covered in mosquitoes. Ugh.

We finished the appointment with the national specialist for my son. The study was only available there but we can do it locally and not be on the study. I wish I could but it would be really hard. Now the hard part is getting the damn insurance to approve a $$$$$ drug. All the doctors agree he needs to start really quickly so if they dick around, I will go momma bear pissed off on the insurance company.

I have a STM question ... So I did not get an epidural until I was 7 cm ... they put the catheter in (which I felt) and immediately took it out because I needed to push. DS was born 20 minutes later. I do not recall feeling the ring of fire/passing the placenta/getting stitched up. My plan is to go med-free this time. Is a hypno-birthing type of class necessary? I made it through pitocin contractions until I hit 7 cm (about 3 hours). I'm leaning toward maybe reading a book, but am reluctant to go to an in-person class.

Hola. I'm at work. I already had to switch to my fake rings because I was in fear my real rings would get stuck.
Well guess who now has a ring shaped rash from fake metal. Ugh.

blabbermouth you should call the place you plan on giving birth. My hospital offered regular birthing classes and birthing classes that focused on breathing and relaxation techniques aimed more towards med- free births. quinn you need one of these www.google.com/amp/athriftymom.com/soccer-moms-best-friend-on-game-day-clear-wall-shelter-to-keep-warm-inside/amp/ you fx insurance approves of quickly! grumpycat I read a hypnobirthing book and definitely was NOT able to apply what I read. I made it through about 3hrs of pitocin with "good contractions" but with no dilation so that may have factored into things. I've heard good things about the classes but they are $$$$! I think you have a good shot at reading the book and applying the principles though since you already know what to expect as far as contractions. I've also been thinking a doula might have been a better option for me- my H was supportive but not like the expertise of a doula!

fancy I highly recommend a childbirth class also. With DS we had like a 6 week course thing (week 1 was about pregnancy, week 2 about childbirth, week 3 about breastfeeding etc) and it was great for a FTM

We did a series of 6 classes last time at our hospital. It was so worth it for peace of mind. And for really drilling in how to swaddle lol.
We also took a separate class on dogs and babies that was great. People with dogs- FYI that ANY dog can get aggressive when nervous or defensive. Never ever leave dogs alone with kids, especially babies. Always make sure there is an eye on them. I am no expert by any means, but I found that information very valuable.

We've got DH's 30th birthday party in the middle of July, and since I'll be 24 weeks I'm assuming I'll need a maternity dress (never had any occasions that popped up with DS pregnancy wise to dress up for) Do you guys think this is ok? I'm not sure if I need something a bit less pregnancy wise. If you get what I mean since I will be only 24 weeks. Don't know, it's a hard one. Feel like I need to be dressed up more than just a party dress since I'm the wife of the reason everyone will be there lol. (Going for purple since we are team girl lol)

LOL everyone is talking about med free birth and I am over here thinking the epidural was the best thing ever invented and I will 100% do it again. I might have definitely told my anesthesiologist I love him.

I think that dress is gorgeous beefinch. I think it'll work even if you're not showing too much yet too. I pop usually around 20 weeks, but everyone is different ☺

I might have definitely told my anesthesiologist I love him. I waited too long to enjoy the epidural lol. Because I've done most of it med-free already and I liked being able to move on my own/despise catheters, I'm going to do it med-free this time. My cousin had an epidural and nitrous. Her son was crowning and she didn't even know it or feel it. The nurse was like OH there's his head!

We did Bradley Method classes last time around and I really loved them. It basically focuses on preparation- physically (maximizing diet and exercise), mentally (relaxation exercises and knowing exactly what each stage of labor brings), and emotionally (designating your SO or someone else as a coach to help you through labor and to communicate your needs to the healthcare team). I wish we would've been able to try what everything we learned.

beefinch, love that dress! pootsen, that's more of what I'd hope for! The classes here are all around $200, so I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it, otherwise I'll read a book for $20!

Some of it seemed kind of intense (like the diet) but you can kind of tailor it to what you're comfortable with and I felt like it had a lot of good info.

Basically my idea is to be open to an epidural, but if I don't have to have one, great!

I took mine off weeks ago and put it on a necklace because it was already a little tight. And I have an irrational/rational fear of it getting stuck forever.
