I feel you guys on the toddler drama. My 2.5 year old has been on a tear lately. He just realized that talking well means he can effectively say what he wants, so we are having lots of moments where he tries to be super independent and does his own thing. It makes it extra fun in public.
On the plus side, the things he says are pretty adorable, so there's that.
Hope everyone who is sick gets better soon!

I met with HR to talk about maternity leave and it’s hard to believe that we are at this stage. This is something that I was just thinking about. I didn't really know when to do it or what I plan on doing, but I guess I need to make an appointment to see what my options are.

I already contacted my (teacher's) union to make sure the way I'm reading the contract is correct. I'm waiting to hear back from the county's side so I know that the information given to me is correct. I'm planning to take off the end of this school year (duh) as well as September of next school year. I've arranged substitutes for one of my schools but not for the other. Aaand, I have yet to tell any of my admin that I'm planning to be out from mid-May until October. I kind of want to wait to do that until I have all my ducks in a row.

I've been sleeping normal hours, but been exhausted for like 2 weeks. Tonight I decided to take a benadryl early, do my stuff, then settle down and chill out/fall asleep early. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel more rested. Unisom. It's the best. I feel mostly human and very well rested when I get to take it.

Some of the laws have recently changed (for the better) so hopefully you get some benefits that you weren’t aware of.

Feel a lot better! I know they're the same type of drug but unisom works way better for me (sleep wise) than benedryl. I tried benedryl at the beginning of this pregnancy since we always have it at home and unisom was the clear winner. I'm impressed at your amount of sleep. And jealous. I slept from 9:30 to 6 this morning. I also wish that we could bank up our sleep now for the sleepless nights that are coming. May we all have magical unicorn babies that sleep.

Benadryl has always worked pretty okay for me, knocks me right out in an hour or so. I was definitely exhausted last night, but I think it helped that we had a blizzard, complete with howling winds, so all I wanted to do anyways was curl up and sleep. Hopefully I can get a bit more done tonight before I conk out though. I need to get chores done!

Benadryl knocks me out, but I feel hungover & groggy the next day. Unisom just knocks me out period and I feel rested.

My 2.5 year old is the WORST and is still up at least once every night.

I told my admin back in November. They have been notorious at not putting in the required effort to interview and secure qualified subs and I needed to make sure they were on it early. We also have to submit written intent to the Board of Ed at least 3 months prior to the leave per our contract, so I did that in early January. I’ve been trying to get in touch with our HR rep for two months to ask questions about different scenarios, but we haven’t been able to connect. Since the school year goes 7 weeks past my due date and the contract only provides 6 weeks paid leave with my sick time, I have a lot of questions (and prayers that I don’t go early).

I was a firm “no co-sleeping for us” but gave up after two years for my health and my sanity and it’s been mostly great ever since lol This kid needs less sleep than me which baffles me. I hope that your 2.5 year old figures it out, but on the bright side (insert sarcasm), you’ll be up MOTN anyway for the baby soon and you can get both back to sleep.

I just found out a lovely coworker is expecting, due July. Excited for her. I asked if she was telling anyone the sex, and she said no but she’s probably going to slip up one day. A few minutes later she starts calling the baby ‘she’. I didn’t even notice but she covered her mouth and burst out laughing so now I know... ha ha.

Ever since V was born, he has slept at least two hours less per night than the recommendation. He is also sick almost constantly, which makes it hard to do any sort of sleep training or help him get himself back to sleep since he usually wakes up because he's coughing or severely congested. I typically bring him in bed with me when he wakes up in the middle of the night because otherwise I would never get any sleep, so it'll be fun to work a newborn into that.

I’m sorry about the coughing and congestion. I can see how that would be rough on a kid’s sleep. Maybe the colds will get better as he gets closer to 3 and the immune system gets stronger. Has your pedi ever suggested a nebulizer? DS’s colds trigger coughing which in turn triggers wheezing and the nebulizer has helped both the coughing and wheezing and he sleeps better after a treatment. Well, at least cold and flu season will taper down by the time the May/June babies get here.

Dr appt went well. She wasn’t sure if my rash is yeast or dermatitis from something else. But gave me some cream that should help, it’s aloe+antifungal+antibacterial so hopefully should take care of it. She also told me to keep taking Prilosec for the remainder of my pregnancy since I’m having such issues w reflux. Also gave the go ahead to use milk of magnesia next time I have constipation since the miralax didn’t get along with me well. Whew!

numbears I'm already wondering if there's an alternative. I can't take any liquid medications because they make me gag and vomit and I'm thinking I'm going to have the same reaction to the drink.

My OB office offers different flavors and makes sure they're super cold. I got Lemon-Lime last time and it was like a very flat extra sweet sprite. They also had orange and fruit punch. I'm really not looking forward to that next month. FX I pass the 1 hr this time. Last time I failed by 1 flipping point because they took my blood 5 minutes early. I was not pleased.

I had the orange drink last time and actually didn't mind it that much. Like, I wouldn't drink it voluntarily but it just tasted like extra sweet punch to me.
