Sou found out won't get an u/s army first appointment and I'm a little bummed. Hoping my second appointment is not too long after. It's interesting to see how things function differently here. I have a choice of keeping my prenatal with my family doctor or having them at the maternity hospital nearest me. I don't have a family doctor yet though, soimnot sure if I have to do everything through the hospital, which isn't a big deal, it's just 45 minutes away.

Thanks ladies. The bleeding has slowed a bit, but it's still been bright red and I'm still cramping. I go in at 2:30 for an US so now we wait.

My office "technically" doesn't either but they have a little portable machine they can grab and use. It's not the best quality but it's better than nothing!

I'm in the States and don't get an u/s until 11-12 weeks. And even that one is considered optional at my OB practice. The only one you get if you don't opt-in for the 1st tri NT scan is the 20 week anatomy scan.

Nymeria it is interesting the inconsistency of care across the US. My last baby I only had 2, the dating scan and the 20 week and neither were covered by insurance! I was pissed. Here I think the general clinics just don't have the equipment, which is why they have the maternity hospitals- to focus the care. I can go to a private clinic if I want, which I may decide to after finding out what my appointments will be like.

Guys... I think I'm developing an aversion to cheese. String cheese is one of my favorite snacks. Don't want to touch it. Last night DD and I made crescent dogs (because I'm 5, apparently) and the recipe called for cheese. I seriously contemplated just leaving it off. WHAT KIND OF LIFE IS THIS?
The only thing I want to eat are plain, unsalted french fries.

I may be crazy, and obviously I may change my mind, but unless this LO arrives late and I'm still in the hospital, I as of now I've made up my mind that I am fully intending on going to a concert September 29 (ETA: I'm due 9/20). It's the 2nd Game of Thrones concert. The first one was AMAZING and I've had these tickets for months already. Any other concert I would just plan on bailing now, but unless it is not physically possible, I am going!!
I figure I'll drive separately since the people I'm supposed to go with will want to do dinner before and that will save me some time away from home. I know you're not supposed to pump early on, but some short sessions leading up to the show to accumulate enough for a couple feedings shouldn't be too bad, then I'll just pump in the car to replace the 1-2 feedings I'll miss while at the show.
MH was never planning to go to the concert so he would be home with baby. My mom and MIL are both close and either would be willing to be on call in case MH needed help with the toddler while caring for baby.
Someone please tell me I'm not completely nuts and this could be doable (assuming no complications, or health issues)!

ftwr -- not cheese, but for like a week I couldn't eat chicken. and that's the only meat i eat. it was soooo bad. but then it went away and now i'm good with it again. hopefully that happens to you! Nymeria -- i think that's a perfectly doable plan! If i remember correctly, the only reason to NOT pump in the first 6 weeks is because you're body is trying to regulate your supply. but really, one or two days of pumping shouldn't hurt at all because you'd only end up with an oversupply that will then need to be either scaled back or then you end up with more milk in your freezer stash

ftwr Not cheese! Anything but cheese!! Maybe it would be more appetizing melted? I walked past the crescent rolls the other day at the store and started craving pigs in a blanket. And plain fries sound delish. Thank you for fueling my cravings 😊 Nymeria You are not completely nuts! Driving separately is a solid plan, especially if you start to feel wiped out and want to duck out early. I don’t think that pumping for that short time will create any issues.

flyliceandcoffee, CharlieB - Thanks! Obviously based on my username a GoT concert is high on the list of things I'd like to do! I've been trying to not worry about it for now but I couldn't get it out of my mind so I figured I'd run my plan by the group.

ftwr not CHEESE! Nymeria I agree that it sounds like a doable plan! It's really only a few hours Last night my nausea was AWFUL. I caved and messaged my Dr this morning and she recommended trying the vitamin B6/Unisom combo first. I feel like I've seen that remedy mentioned in here. Anyone have luck with it? I hope the Unisom doesn't make me too tired in the morning...

Nymeria I think your plan to go to the concert is perfectly reasonable! A bit of pumping early on and a bottle feed or two should work out just fine. I really feel that holding on to the things that interest you and that make you who you are is so important, especially after having a baby. It’s so easy to lose yourself in those early weeks.

tbirdlove I take 25 mg of unisom every night and at first it did cause me to be very drowsy in the morning, but it got better for me overtime. The all day morning sickness was worse and harder to function with than the drowsy feeing so it works for me. I’ve heard of people even cutting the 25 mg in half to have an even smaller dosage... so you could consider starting out with half a tab if you go this route. I don’t take the B6 with it because in the past when I did, I didn’t think it worked as well.

Nausea-wise I feel better today than I have in the past week and a half. The only difference? I managed to stomach my prenatal right after lunch yesterday. I was able to get it down again today so we'll see if there's a correlation tomorrow!

mirabelle thanks for sharing! I agree that feeling tired seems much, much better than feeling so sick. Man, I hope it works for me. It would be a major game changer!

tbirdlove - I've heard a lot of moms have success with the combo, or even Unisom only. Unisom has the same active ingredient as regular Dramamine (not the non-drowsy version) so it definitely makes sense that it would help!

tbirdlove I take 1/4 tab of unisom and 25mg B6 every night. It’s made a huge difference.

Thank you all so much for the kind words and thoughts, we just got home and they saw the baby but there was no heartbeat. So it looks like my time with Sept/Oct is over. I've enjoyed my time here and wish you all the best! ❤
