I have a lot of anxiety because of my IF/MC history. But I'm actually starting to come around to the thought of a second baby a lot faster than I did with the 1st. I spent time over the weekend actually looking at baby stuff and creating a registry. I should really call it a wish list because right now I'm using them as a dumping ground for all the things that are catching my attention, that either I realized I didn't have anymore or that I want this time around.
*Before anyone tries to flame me to hell for having a registry because *gasp* this is child #2, registry discounts are real and I intend to take full advantage of any discounts I can get.

I don’t think there is anything flammable about having a registry. I’m having a 2nd girl and there are a couple things that I wish I’d had with my first, so I’m adding it to my registry as my shopping list.
My cousin is also throwing me a ‘sprinkle’ even though I told her I didn’t need one, but she LOVES to throw parties for anything and she is totally invested in it, so shruggy face, guess I’m breaking etiquette. For the record, I’m not asking for gifts though.

Many would disagree with me. I just don't see the point of getting bent out of shape over whether someone has 15 baby showers or not.

I remember on TD it seemed like someone was getting flamed for that every day.

I feel like if you are offended that someone is having a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) shower then just don't buy them a gift! Problem solved!
That being said we know like 2 people in this city and won't be having a shower.

My family loves any reason to have a party so I have a feeling my sister and mom will do something. For the past few year, we have had some kind of shower /celebration at my aunts 4th of July party at the beach so they'll probably do it there. 😉

Beach party! I know the party my cousin is throwing will be a pool party. I just have to figure out what I will wear in the pool, because no way am I spending a bunch of money on a maternity suit.

We have a pool so I'll probably try to find something. But I ha really lost 50lbs this past year and bought all new suits last summer. Hoping I can make the bigger ones work! Haha

I have no idea how we are going to name another boy. We just knew with DS1 and it's not that way at all this time.
I fully intend on registering and I know my job will throw a baby shower. I don't think there's anything flammable about that.

Also, I hate how backwards this country is in regards to maternity/parental leave. I'm thinking about it and trying to plan it out and I won't have enough PTO, sick time, or short term disability to cover a full 12 weeks off. Daycare for DS1 is so expensive that I don't think we can swing it on DH's salary alone. DS2 will be able to come to work with 2-3 days a week, but it still just sucks. I was still a mess at 6 weeks and 8 weeks last time. Thinking about going through all of that again plus being at work sounds like hell.

I guess it could be odd if someone threw their own shower or something. But if someone wanted to throw me a shower I wouldn't say no. I never really got a baby shower because I was young with my first. I'd love to have friends and family come together and celebrate this baby. I wouldn't expect gifts, but any reason for cake is ok in my book. 😉

I'm kind of hoping this baby will show over the week of the 4th. MH work shuts down for the week. If baby comes before or after that week MH can only take 3 days unpaid leave. Which he won't. I'm very thankful I'm able to be a sahm but I wish MH could get better leave. Maternity/paternity leave just sucks here.

I'm sitting in the waiting room at the orthodontist. I have a bad habit of being super early for things. DD makes fun of me but I always tell her I'd rather be early than late. 🤷♀️
DDs appt isn't even until 4. We've been here since 3:25.

I don't think anyone should expect or god forbid throw their second shower but if someone offers and wants to do it then that's not necessarily flammable. My family asked and I said no to shower. Now my mom and MIL want to do a small "sprinkle" with just close family and a couple friends. I told them I would think about it and if anything just something intimate and small. If we were having another boy I'm sure it would be a no.

notmoose I have the same “habit”. For me it is more of a compulsion which I haven’t been able to break. Being late gives me major anxiety that I can’t quite explain.

Oh god. It's reached the point in allergy season where as soon as I sit up in bed I start sneezing.

I am so salty this morning. There's a daycare worker that smells of cigarette smoke. My kid has asthma and is on four daily meds to keep it controlled. This isn't good for any kid, but especially not him. Its not like its faint either, its so bad he has come home with his hair smelling like it. I've complained multiple times. This morning they told me they would cut her hours. Really I think they should just let her go. They said they've talked to her multiple times and nothing is changing.

I refuse to wait around for things to start, so I get there at 358 for a 4pm appointment, much to the chagrin of H, who would like to be there at 340. I just don't need to wait around places that are probably running late anyway.

Any interest in starting a weekly HDBD thread here? I know most of y'all are so far ahead of me. I have no bump, just bloat 😂. Or we could just add bump pics if desired to the weekly check in?

Feeling quite drained today. I'm really struggling on the energy front. I just want to crawl into a ball right under my desk and sleep.

H comes back today from his Philly/work trip. Then I leave tomorrow for a work trip 😂
There’s also a possibility I need to go to Charlotte for work soon-ish if my boss doesn’t go. I’m hoping she goes. My birthday is next Tuesday and I’d rather be with my family.

goldenbird - I’d be up for a weekly HDBD thread even though whatever bump I’d have at this point would be a food baby or bloat 🤣

Trying to plan the food for my DD's birthday party. Debating between hot dogs and burgers on the grill or making a few soups for the crockpot and set out lunch meat for sandwiches. Opinions?

klw - my vote would be for hot dogs and burgers. Less messy and they’re always a hit!
