Happy Birthday woodenshoes! Rama I was really hoping that a good after dinner number would lead to a good fasting number but this morning’s was my highest yet🤦🏼♀️ I’m assuming my doc will put me on night time insulin at my appt on Friday.

Rama I was really hoping that a good after dinner number would lead to a good fasting number but this morning’s was my highest yet🤦🏼♀️ I’m assuming my doc will put me on night time insulin at my appt on Friday. I feel like my number goes higher for fasting ESPECIALLY if I have a good dinner number. Do you have a snack at bedtime? I forget most of the time and/or eat late, so I rarely do, but I'm starting to wonder if I should push through and do it anyway.

Bedtime snack was something I hated but it totally made a difference for my fasting numbers.

I spiked myself at lunch for the first time ever today because I ate a mini candy bar with a salad. Feeling guilty and lame. I won't be doing that again.

I kind of wonder if I'm becoming more resistant. I need to up my protein intake, I think. More eggs, whomp whomp.

I’ve definitely had off days shellyr. And when I call in my numbers and actually have to talk to a nurse instead of leaving a message, I’m always terrified to read off the high number(s), but they’re always really reassuring that a couple high numbers aren’t a huge deal and they still say I’m doing a good job overall. I was worried about a trend of higher numbers the further along I got too, but it seems to just be a few random outliers here and there. You’re doing great! Like Rama said, don’t be afraid to treat yo self every once in a while.

I can’t remember exact numbers but I think they checked every couple hours for the first day and since they were fine and he was nursing, they said they didn’t need to check anymore. I’m super thankful it wasn’t an issue after delivery. I’ve been meaning to check in here to see how things are going with you guys, but newborn schedule. I hope everyone’s levels are staying in check and you’re not having too tough a time with diet. Sending good vibes and low numbers 🤞🏼

I'm eating beef jerky for breakfast. And only because my husband wasn't going to let me out of the car if I didn't eat something.

Rama, I don't like your GD person. They seem way too controlling and would cause me a lot of stress. Have you been having good numbers? I met with the dietitian right after my diagnosis and that was the only contact I had with her. My doctor's don't get concerned unless my numbers are way out of range, and they haven't been. I don't have to write down what I eat or anything. I've cheated a couple times and noted what I ate that caused the slightly higher number...most of my medical providers just say we are all human and don't make a huge deal about it.

Every single other provider that I've seen (including the one that did the initial setup with me, which was terrible in many ways) have told me that I'm doing great -- including my dietician, which is a different person. I've been told to enjoy having some ice cream or a cookie or cake or whatever and not worry about it as long as my numbers are generally fine (half or better), which they are. I don't have to make notes on what I eat (but I did for awhile, just to help) and I have yet to find a single meal that's safe every time. I'm so over this. I'm doing my damned best and she's just coming at me again and again like I'm not giving a shit without ever asking me what I'm actually doing. It's emails like those that make me go, "well, fuck it. If I'm going to get all this shit for eating like shit, I'm just going to eat whatever the fuck I want," and then get a good number anyway. -_-;; I'm just pissed and having a bad couple of days over it now. I can't stop thinking about it and I'm terrified I'm going to kill my kid because the initial nurse said that I could maybe have a stillborn, so YEAH I'M DOING GREAT.

Rama that gd lady can gtfo. I’m so mad at her for you. If over half of your numbers are good and your other providers are happy, then I’d just tune her out and know that you’re doing your best! Easier said than done though I know. It sucks that on top of all the regular pg stress, you have this to deal with too. And I know there are real risks associated with gd, but you are doing all that you can for the health of your baby and if she can’t see that, then

Like, for reference, let me share some numbers. Fasting (which I have always had trouble with) is supposed to be <95. Meals are supposed to be <120 after two hours or <140 after one hour.
Last week my numbers were (fasting, 2hr post-breakfast, 2hr post-lunch, 2hr post-dinner)(asterisks are 1hr numbers instead of 2hr): Monday: 101, 113, 95*, 110 Tuesday: 104, 126, missed, 166 Wednesday: 93, 113, 130, 153* Thursday: 98, 107, 105, 100 Friday: 94, 108*, 117, 116 Saturday: 96, 95, 127, 196 (shower day, y'all)(also forgot to take my dinner insulin before eating, so I took it at the time I started eating) Sunday: 100, 153, 107*, 107*
That's most of my fasting numbers up, which I have literally been able to do nothing about, and a grand total of FOUR meal numbers up more than 10 points from target. One of which is my FUCKING BABY SHOWER when I forgot to take my insulin before eating. I'm legitimately at my wit's end, which is what I emailed her back this time. I'm doing exactly what they've told me to do, so fuck you and fuck your high horse, GD bitch.

Also, let me note that in that above list of numbers, the post-breakfast number from Monday (113) was after eating a plate of goddamn hashbrowns, two sausage links, and an eggs benedict slathered with hollandaise sauce. In comparison, I had a sub after coming back from L&D on fucking wheat bread, filled with all the meats and veggies and spices and oils/vinegar and got 146. I'm so done with trying to figure shit out.

I had a growth scan this weekend, Baby measured in the 54th percentile (wahoo!) but the ultrasound tech made sure to point out that babies gain most of their weight in the last few weeks. Gee thanks🙄
Started my night time insulin, I was hoping for a miracle fasting number this morning but it was only 5pts under what it had been before. Idk if it’s because I slept terribly or if I need a higher dose. Dr appt on Fri so we’ll see what he says🤷🏼♀️

GD nurse (she's a RN, I guess) called me today and apologized for the way her message came off to me. She said she didn't mean to make me feel like I was failing or like I was at fault here and that I was doing a really good job. Just be consistent with actually eating my carbs and if the number is high, we'll adjust the insulin. I feel a lot better. This is also why I much prefer personal interaction with medical professionals over email. Because ugh it's so easy to get worked up without tone.
