So we got out early so I parked near J's school and walked and went shopping by myself, I got new jeans and some basic tops at gap and a new hat at H&M, it was glorious. Then I pick up J 10 min early and he loses his freaking mind that he couldn't stay for the story that was about to start. After 20 min of screaming (longer than said story), we finally drove away. Note to self, don't pick him up early. Love the irony that he refused to go this am.

I’m childless!! Plans for tonight include buying paint and painting laundry room, and then going to a movie at 10. We are party animals.

It's 7:40 and both my kids are asleep. It's a snow-blizzard miracle. Oh and our 2-20 inches? We've got 2. Barely.

I'm always a little happy (though frustrated) when he doesn't want to leave because it helps remind me that he does have fun even though he usually says he doesn't want to go.

Haha, that's how L got her first name. It wasn't my favorite, but I really wanted a girl we could call Lou (or Lue in our case) so I went with it! Boys names for girls are just so cute. Does anybody remember an older show called Sisters? They all had boys's names Alex, Georgie, Teddy, and Frankie. A friend of the family's daughter loved the idea and named her children – all girls -- – Toni, Jonni, and Jorgi. I liked that show

We went to Five Guys for dinner and came home to 1 mouse caught. Who knows how many we actually have... I guess we keep going until they stop getting trapped. Ick.
In other news, my 2017 Shutterfly book came in!! I'm in love, it came out so well. Colin loves to go through the books back-to-back to watch them grow up in warp speed, he's going to be so excited to see this newest one!

trtlcrzy , she did a great job coloring that lion! I was thinking the same! When Colin has a homework page where he has to color all the things that start with "F", he just puts a slash through them to show he knows the sound. His teacher is cool with it, she said some kids just don't enjoy coloring and he's clearly one. E is the same way. Do you have colored pencils or makers? I found E didn't have the strength to push down crayons to get anything on the paper. He's still a minimalist, just doesn't get frustrated

Our dish receiver is dead. Thank God for netflix, but the days til Wednesday are going to be long.
I know many have gotten rid of cable/satellite and only use Netflix or like services. Guess we will see if we can figure out what's going on in the world with no satellite. Like, how do people watch the local news? Just stream it on their phone?

You can log into channels using your dish account. Or get a digital antenna for the local stuff. I bought a $20 one and it does fine.

We nixed the movie. I only got like 1/2 done by the time we needed to leave and I’d rather get this finished. I ran out of tape so DH had to go get more. Moving the W/D in my tiny laundry room so I have room to paint is a pain in the ass. I’m having some wine for all my hard work.

guster I haven't heard of that show, but those are cute names. We knew a Francesca who went by Frankie. It fit her and she was darling. I also know a toddler Georgina who goes by Georgie and I think that is cute, as well. In the south, back in our grandparents' day (and before), it was very common for the oldest child to have a boy name, no matter what. So you see a lot of older ladies named things like Billie, Tommie, etc. down here. I noticed that with a lot of my coworkers in the South, flamingo, but I never knew that was the reason.

We know a Francesca, NN Frankie and I think it's cute. The name suits her.
I used to have a friend named Charlene, NN Charlie.
I think the boy names for girls are cute but they are something I like for other people, nothing I would use.

mwhip we ditched cable when we moved here and got Sling. I’m obsessed and will never go back. We have an antenna to catch the local stations and major networks (CBS, ABC) and the picture quality is even better than what we had with cable. It is flat, slightly thicker than a piece of paper, and is mounted to the wall behind the TV, so no old-school antenna or whatever. As someone above mentioned, it was cheap—$20-30.

Same for us, but the antenna didn't work in our house so I only get what sling offers for local/network channels. We also have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon prime. I do find that I rarely watch anything live anymore just from the busyness of life

We pay a bit extra ($5) for the sports package on Sling, but that and local news is all we typically watch live. Oh, and maybe TWD during the season. We have Netflix and Apple TV, too.

mwhip, you should try it. I'm the biggest TVaholic, and I don't feel like I miss anything. We probably save close to 150 a month.
