klong11, I do agree with you on the overdone. I think it can be done in unique ways, but the siplap everything is blah. That bedroom you posted is... a bit much.

Add me to the list of people who love to look at houses online! I search my old address like 3 times a week. I really want it to go up for sale so I can see pictures of what it looks like inside now! I'm curious what they changed.

And don't pick her up when you do go in. Just make a gentle shushing noise and pat her to try and get her calm. ETA: but obviously pick her up if she doesn't calm after a few minutes and becomes more distressed. Patting so far just makes her angry lol. Even when DH picks her up she still doesnt settle. Then just run, run far away. lol....kidding. kind of I would give her 10 minutes, go in shhhhhh her and try an comfort her for a couple minutes then leave. She is safe in her crib, she is just protesting.

I'm curious what they changed. I spent a good part of the day yesterday looking at homes. I go through cycles of loving our home to hating it and wanting to build brand new. Realistically though, if we build it will be when J is 4-5 yo, when most of the destruction is completed.

Now I'm looking at houses, LOL. Beats working. I really could do it all day. I love it when I can figure out how one room flowed into the next. That’s why I like looking at new construction homes, they usually have the floor plan.

I don’t mind shiplap it’s just not my style. I’m not into the rustic farmhouse look for my own house. I like clean lines better, I’d say my style is more contemporary so if I tried adding it to my house it would look so out of place.

I looked up my sister’s old house recently. Not going to lie, it was a dump when they moved out of it. It was recently on the market and looks like a completely different home. They updated everything.

wood planks/siding used as an interior wall In that first picture it just looks bizarre. It does not go well with the little bit of the rest of the room you can see. It totally looks like a DIY in which the wife wanted shiplap everything after watching HGTV and got her husband to work away at it.
In the little picture to the right it looks nice and well done. The angles of the room make it a nice shape for it.
In the bottom picture--woof. They were trying way too hard for "rustic." It looks like that room could be the set for an undated version of Misery. I can practically see mice and bugs crawling out of the very large gaps on the right hand side. And why couldn't they let the ceiling be? Unless they were going for the you're-trapped-in-a-tiny-wooden-crate look.

Does anyone remember the old movie Indiana in a Cupboard? I just put it on for Gunner and one part the mom asks the little boy if he’s feeling okay and he replied, ‘I’m feeling pretty damn good.’ .... like.... what???? lol

I also hate the sliding barn doors that have become a "thing". They take up so much space! You need to have a good couple of feet clear to open the damn things. They don't seem very practical either. I would like them in say, a themed bed and breakfast or some big farmhouse on a property rented out for weddings. But in my home? No.

sands42, lol. I remember that movie although it was my little brother who watched it because I was older. I read the book several times though when I was a kid. At the beginning of ET the kid calls his brother "penis breath." Sometimes weird stuff is worked into kids movies.

Floor plans give me a she-boner. I also love walking through new homes under construction. The girls beg me to stop every time they see one.

I love floor plans, trtlcrzy and inthekitty. It's one of the main complaints in my house - there are elements that make absolutely no sense and I'm not sure how no one picked up on it.

I don't mind a little shiplap like in the bathroom but more than that isn't very cute.
No idea who this Joanna person is.

Good assessment inthekitty the second one isn't too bad. It's glorified wood paneling.

And the only reason I know who Joanna is is because people thought we started calling Charlie Chip after her husband. But I didn't know him at the time. I only knew they had a show on hgtv that people loved.

I'm glad L is better, chrisy01! Good news. We're okay over here. My infusion gave me a headache but that's nothing too extreme or out of the ordinary. I think X might have an EI, so that's fun. I'm probably going to try to get him to the pedi tomorrow.

I also hate the sliding barn doors that have become a "thing". I love the look, but it's way too overdone that it's kinda "blah" to me now.

The house is 100+ years old. It's a cool space saving design, that I would prefer over the barn doors any day.
