Walmart is so random! I say you go grocery shopping at Walmart and then use the money you would have used on groceries to treat yourself to something at a different store! Does Walmart sell gift cards the way target and grocery stores do? Could you use the gc to buy yourself a gc to someplace you like? SO SMART, Unicorn!

It seems like they haven’t even turned the heat on yet. They claim it's set at 72. I call bull shit. The maintenance guy won't do anything because this building was his project. And he failed miserably. It's designed awful and just doesn't work. At all. The whole outside is glass so the interior offices and the exterior offices don't keep the same temperature and we only have one heating/air system. Anytime you mention any issue with anything about this building he loses his mind and blows up. It's something to see. I turned my heater off when the market president walked around to give out our Christmas cards and the temperature dropped 5 degress in 5 minutes. That’s crazy. I’m so confused why they are against space heaters. They should put in the permanent baseboard ones if they don’t want employees bringing their own. Do you have a secret hiding place for it when you’re not there. Also, it’s super unprofessional of the maintenance man to act that way.

I think some places do not allow the purchase of a gift card, with a gift card. When I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond, you couldn't come in and use a Bed Bath & Beyond gift card to purchase one to another store. Not sure Walmarts policy though, so it may be worth a try.

I have it under my desk so you can only see it if you come in and walk around the back of my desk. I think I may cut a paper box so I can set it over it when I'm not here lol. Especially the long weekend! Thats when he took the last one. When we were gone for Thanksgiving.

At my work you have to have it approved to use. They want to make sure it's in good condition and have an automatic shutoff feature. Plus they keep track of who has one so one area doesn't have too many in the older building to trip a breaker.

FWP, but we got our Christmas card from our boss's wife yesterday since he is travelling this week. We normally get cash or a Visa gift card, this time it is a Walmart gift card. Really?? I never go to our Walmart and I usually use the Christmas money to buy myself something I want. I mean, I appreciate the thought, but at the same time, it doesn't seem like much thought was put into it. And on the same note... DH's grandma always send us giftcards for our birthdays which is really sweet of her. But she buys them for places we don't have within an hour of us. lol. But I can't be mad at her because she's the sweetest. Shop online at Walmart. Now they have all kinds of stuff you can get that's not actually sold at Walmart.

We can't use them in our Houston office either. The building management won't allow it.

How is H doing this morning tgrimes ? And any update on your nephew? No fever this morning! He still has some nasty shit coming out of his ears though. My MIL is watching him today for me. My nephew got his first "new" treatment last night. His headache came back around 3, then he started vomiting, but once they gave him meds it went away pretty quickly. Other than that, he's still the same. The neurologist said they wouldn't see a different until probably the 3rd treatment.

Pete is at breakfast with Dude. Then they're getting haircuts and going to this huge playground with a mud pit and treehouse. Should be fun. Wish I were going.

If they don’t want them to use space heaters then they need to turn on/up the heat. 59 degrees is ridiculous.

I'd take a Walmart gift card. I go through paper towels and Windex and laundry detergent, diapers and wipes like it's no one's business. I know it's not a treat like most Christmas presents are, but it would always be helpful. I actually do order a handful of things on Walmart.com. They're gluten-free pasta and other dry staples are a lot cheaper than most grocery stores.

A girl on one of the fb mom groups I am on was complaining because people say the wrong gender for her kids. Her little boy is around H’s age and has long blonde ringlets, but generally she dresses him in a traditional boy manner. Her baby is a girl but she’s bald and dressing her in all of her brother’s old clothes. Well, if I saw a bald baby in boy clothes I would also assume it was a boy. I feel like if you’re going to go against gender norms then you have to be able to ignore comments like that or not get mad when people say it.

THey just took them, which they're allowed to do, since it's a fire hazard. It's shitty, but that's what can happen. They're probably just being cheap about turning the heat on. Again, it sucks. But that's the way it is sometimes. When I worked downtown we asked HR about the temp almost every day. Only the building management was allowed to touch the thermostats. It was like working in an igloo. Sometimes you just have to suck it up.

Sure, but then you're making a plan on how you're going to spend a gift BEFORE you even get it, that's bordering bratty behaviour IMO.

Hi! Y’all are chatty today, took me awhile to catch up. We got back from the orthopedist a little while ago; while C’s leg is likely fractured (won’t know for sure til follow-up x-Ray when they can see calcification), they were able to put her in a walking boot instead of an over-the-knee cast! Thankfully she is a hoss and the fracture is where it is, b/c it normally wouldn’t be an option until closer to 2, or if it was higher up her leg. This is a Christmas miracle for sure; we can dress and bathe her normally and even take it off for a Christmas picture or two. We follow up in mid-January and hopefully she’ll be healed up by then. I will definitely be able to spend the money at Walmart, but like trtlcrzy said, there are things I have my eyes from other stores. I will likely hold onto it forever until I come across something online I want. I could go buy groceries with it, but I just never shop there and prefer the other grocery store. It just seems like and odd choice for them to give considering they gave all of our IL employees Visa gift cards.

Well, she did say she usually always gets cash or a visa gift card so in my case I’d be expecting the same and may be disappointed that i didn’t get it. I would still appreciate the gift but be bummed it wasn’t what I was expecting. She said she usually uses the bonus to buy things for herself, so that’s why I brought up buying clothes at a retailer that isn’t Walmart. Anecdote: My sister’s husband has always gotten the same amount for his yearly bonus at his job and they count on that money to buy their kids’ Christmas presents. Last year it was significantly less so my sister was pretty upset because she had put the cart before the horse and had things on layaway, etc. Yes, it’s not a guarantee but when something has been the same for many years and it suddenly changes it sucks.

I mean, if my kids were all we get this many gifts every single year and this year got this many we would have a problem with their spoiled nature right? This is the same thing, except we're adults.
