I actually tweeted this morning that I’m having a hard timing wrapping my brain around people so gleefully voting yes on a bill that only 26% of Americans support. Like wtf? Especially people who have to know they're already skating toward an ice blue mid-term next year. EXACTLY. I know I'm a libra and I need everything to be fair. And I'm honest to a fault. So maybe that's why I don't understand this. But they are getting so. much. shit. for this but they are still happy and still passing it through. I don't understand.

My prediction is that he will do the wild/dumb thing and fire Mueller, but it will be impulsive and/or weird timing. Like on Christmas (but probably further out).
That said, I'm also feeling less stressed than this weekend. I'm not sure why.

The fact that Republicans aren't even hiding the fact that they're doing this to appease their donors makes me feel like they think if they have the advantage fundraising-wise they're invincible.
I really hope they're underestimating the fire that has been lit on the left since Trump took office.

I still really don't think he will fire him. But I definitely think he will leak as much as possible to discredit him.

CDC Director tweets that there is no ban on words, but fails to use the words or explain what the reports are a "complete mischaracterization" of... ETA: I am only tepidly reassured. This annoyed me, she didn't address what having those words banned in budget formulation actually means.

Director Wray is more than 4 months into his term now so he can reassign personnel, including his deputy, at will at this point. So I could see Trump having a temper tantrum and taking it out on Andrew McCabe. I suspect his advisers have made it abundantly clear that he can't fire Mueller. And I think this well coordinated universal smear campaign on the Right is the plan to insulate Trump et Al from consequences despite Mueller's findings

CDC Director tweets that there is no ban on words, but fails to use the words or explain what the reports are a "complete mischaracterization" of... ETA: I am only tepidly reassured. The article I posted about this said that they were not allowed to use the words in funding documents. (I'm assuming requests for money from the government or possibly when giving grants. I don't know if the CDC gives grants, but that's beside the point.) I do believe the ban on words is there, but only in that sense and not on their actual research. I think the story was blown up beyond what it actually was, which is still terrifying in my opinion (slippery slope and all that), but that could be the "complete mischaracterization."

That more than anything makes me feel so helpless.

Apparently Senators Leahy and Manchin are among at least 4 who have changed their minds about Franken resigning. The male fragility is strong.

Any time we have information that could save lives we have a duty to share it; In turn, we would hope that other countries would do the same. Those tweets are from the ACLU and say they are getting reports that hundreds of spouses and children of U.S. citizens of Yemeni descent had their visas denied en masse last night.

Ryan Stiles: History will not be kind to those who voted for this tax plan because they are afraid of a game show host.

Anyone know if the latest version of the tax bill includes the change requiring you to live in your home for 5 years (instead of 2) before selling in order to avoid capital gains tax? I saw it in previous versions but am having a hard time finding a good summary of the current version that addresses this. Will totally change our plans if it's in there. Ugh, I also missed this. And this would probably also change our plans.
