M came and got into my bed at 4:30. I asked her what was wrong or if she had a bad dream. She said it was a bad dream so I took her back to her room and laid down with her. I knew my alarm would be going off soon so I ninja slid out of her bed just in time for her to wake up & vomit.
She’s thrown up like 8 more times since then.
Fuck.

Oh no tgrimes. Hoping it was a one time thing. Me too. She hasn’t gotten sick in a month. So I don’t know if this is the same thing or a virus. Augh.

I'm off today so I slept in. The boys are eating breakfast and I'm trying to decide between running in the snow and going to run on the gym treadmill. I can't mentally handle another run in my basement right now.
I have a hair appointment and some shopping to hopefully finish. I'd also love a pedicure but how does that work when you can't walk out in flip-flops? I've apparently never done my toes during the winter. Anyhow, work has been pretty stressful so I want to enjoy not being there.

Anyhow, work has been pretty stressful so I want to enjoy not being there. If you're going for a manicure and a pedicure, you'll be practically dry by the time you're ready to leave. On the occasion that I'm not, they put some kind of oil on my nails, and wrap them in plastic wrap and it usually allows me to put on my shoes and get home. ETA: more importantly, enjoy your day off!

Good point, guster. I could really use a manicure too. If I ever get my butt out the door this morning, I should have plenty of time.

Snowy day here. All the schools are closed and the drive to work was slow. Fortunately it's not a daycare day for the kids, so we didn't have to scramble for different child care since they're closed.

Morning ladies! At work, after a few major project I can’t seem to find my mojo at the office, very frustrating. Question. if things are slow here and I’m bored I sometimes read some threads on parenting. One was about a hostess people charging per head for Christmas dinner. Most people agreed it was ludicrous. We’ve been doing this for years in my family. Is this that odd? I normally host (last year was the exception) Christmas dinner for between 16-22 people. I plan, rent tables, prep, cook and clean everything for everyone, so people just have to show up. I normally tally the total (subtract about €100) and than divide, this normally adds up to about €15.- pp. Is this that weird?
ETA to add, I only do this at Christmas, the rest of the year when people come over for dinner it’s on me.

Also, tonight MH are going on our annual date night to dinner and to see a local orchestra play Christmas music. I HATE IT, but MH looooves it. I feel bad saying this, but I find it to be extremely boring. A couple years ago I fell asleep and woke up when I snort snored really loud and it woke me up...

I find it a little weird, but if it works for your family then that's cool! Also, the only huge holiday party we have like this is Thanksgiving and my grandparents have the tables and my mom and aunts all help with bringing a dish or helping with prep, so it's not quite like what you plan and put on by yourself! My sisters and I are always in charge of bringing chocolates/mints to pass around the table after dinner and we all bring wine as well. That being said, I'd gladly pay to go to a large family dinner that I have to do zero prep work for

People don't "pay", but contribute by helping, bringing a dish, wine, or hostess gift.

GM everyone. I’m tired bc I brought C to bed when he woke up motn. That’s me being lazy instead of doing the work to try and get him back to sleep in his own crib.
Anyone doing the Elf, did you do anything special if your kid touched it. B made a big deal of touching it last night. I didn’t have him out this AM and I told the kids he was hurt from B having touched him. I’d like to bring him back tho bc C gets a kick out of it.

tgrimes, I’m so sorry to hear M is sick again. joelies, I try to stay long enough that my toes dry. But if I don’t, they’ve done what guster says, put an oil on and wrap them in like a Saran Wrap.

@nam, in our family, we don't pay the hostess, or ask for payment if we are the one hosting. Most people will bring a bottle of wine, or an appetizer/ dessert. I typically would not bring a hostess gift to my families gatherings, but if it were colleagues from school or my friends, I would be more likely to bring food or drink and a small gift.

tgrimes Sorry to hear M isn't feeling well. As weird as it sounds, I hope it is just a bug and not related to the previous vomiting episodes you all had! I hope she's feeling better quick! nam2013 Like everyone else, we always take a side dish to contribute. When we go to big family get togethers, I believe people have folding tables and chairs they borrow from other family members and set up, so no one (that I'm aware of) is renting. It sounds like you are incurring a lot of expense though and if that is how your family has worked it out for years, I wouldn't think anything odd about it.

Noooooooooo. tgrimes Ugh. I hope M feels better quickly and this doesn’t last all day. So sorry. yummeecookee I made a big deal about the elf losing his magic when M touched him. It was my fault for not reading the book before he came and reminding him that we can’t touch him. He hasn’t touched him since. You should have your Elf come back with a band-aid and a note from Santa asking her not to touch him. Morning!Be back later. Have to run to get ready to leave for work!
