I am a little sore from my ballet workout. Not painful but just, wow, I feel muscles I haven't felt in years (makes sense as I haven't done ballet in over 15 years other than a YT class here or there and only the occasional barre class since). I'm definitely excited to make it part of my new routine and to get stronger and more precise with technique.
As for today's workout, since I was a week removed from doing any kind of strength, I decided that since I was only "in like" with RK's 4-day split that I would try her 5-day split. It may prove too much with my running but I won't know until I compare both and I definitely did not like the 45 minute/Day 4 workout in the 4-day plan that was too little rest and too much cardio.
I loved today's 30 min Upper Body Strength class. Great focus on chest and triceps and lovely, beefy full minute rests that allowed me to lift heavier than I thought I might after a week away and a few weeks away before that. I also love that all of the workouts are 30 minutes which is more than manageable, even on my running days.
I did a 5-min stretch with JK afterwards.

Successfully completed 19 miles yesterday, and kept a 10 minute mile pace the whole time pretty comfortably, which I think bodes well for my goal of finishing the marathon in under 5 hours.
I'll be in Dallas this week for work and staying pretty close to the Katy Trail, which I hear is a nice little walking/jogging trail that I should check out. Anyone here know of it?

yo! i have been around and just putting one foot in front of the other. yesterday i did just over 5 miles. the first 2 miles was a 30 min walk+run. The next mile was a cool down before run club. The last 2 miles were speed walk with extra ankle weights.
I am aiming for 2 - 3 miles today. I may just hit my run goals this month...

Afternoon.
20 minute recovery ride with Camila Extra 10 ride with Ally 5 minute cool down ride with Emma 10 minute arms and shoulders with Logan 5 minute core with Olivia 5 minute stretch with Emma
I was going to run today, but my legs were so sore and tired, this was a much better choice. I got up like 20 minutes late too, so whatever. Yoga tonight.
Food is on point. I'm in high heels at work today, something I never do anymore, and I'm sure my legs will be broken tomorrow.

Hello! First ride in 2 weeks this morning— a 30 minute PZE with Denis. (I believe from 3/21). It’s an all zone 2 ride, which was perfect for me. Then 10 minute arms with Sam Yo and some stretching on my own.

Happy Tuesday!
I mixed it up by doing my strength workout first thing this morning and my running workout at noon. With me starting RK's 5-day split this week, I think that will be the best bet for me vs doing one immediately after the other with fatigued, shaking legs. The other option I was thinking about was doing workouts 1 + 2 back-to-back on Monday but I'll use this week to test the split approach on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It also helps me get more stretching in as I'll do a stretch after each.
- 30 min Legs + Core with RK - 5 min Lower Body Stretch with Ally - 33 min W4/D3 N2R - I had to run on the treadmill (not ideal for my first run back after over a week but it was that or get blown away outdoors) - the tracking wasn't even close (it said I did .34 miles LOL no) so I'll repeat that outdoors on Thursday (at least that's the plan) - 5 min Post-Run Stretch with Susie
Something else I did to help track progress, especially when the scale is being a jerk, is to take measurements and...pictures. Decidedly humbling, especially the pictures, but it's time to get serious about my health and fitness and measurements and pictures do that in a way nothing else can. But again, I can see progress even if the scale won't budge this way.
I created a spreadsheet to track all of this (yup, I'm a nerd) as well as the RK split so I can track weight, reps, etc. as well.

I did my half this weekend and it was… not great 😩 I was feeling good and on pace to finish between 2-2:15 until the last 2-3 miles. It was a generally hilly course but the last bit was literally straight up a steep hill. Lots of walking up that last hill. Finished at 2:35. I was disappointed after but now trying to see it as areas for improvement. I joined a run clinic/coaching group that starts in April and still plan to do the full in my city in August. Also my legs are sore and I spent the last couple days walking around Seattle like Edgar from Men in Black

jorkzy aw no I can imagine a finish like that is demoralizing. But I think you’re AMAZING!

jorkzy, you did a half! And you’re already thinking about the next one! That’s AMAZING! I’m sorry the time wasn’t what you’d hoped for, but the first time you race a distance, you learn so much. It sounds like it was a touch one. You’ve established a bar now, and now you have a goal and more experience for the next one! Congrats!

I haven’t checked in for a long time, still here. I restarted a program I got from a trainer a few years back yesterday. I really saw progress with it so decided to go back to it. So I did a strength workout from that and then a 30 min HIIT run w/Robin.

jorkzy Races with huge hills are impossible, especially when they are at the end! You should be really proud of finishing what sounds like a really tough half.

Congratulations jorkzy!! I hope you're proud of your accomplishment despite the hills at the end slowing you down. A half marathon is no easy feat and you did it! When I did Ironman Syracuse 70.3 a billion years ago now, the run course was a double loop and the turn around was at the top of the biggest hill I've ever encountered in a race before. It was so miserable. It felt especially cruel being that I had already raced 57.2 miles before. I walked it both times. You make due and you be proud that you did something most people will never do in their lifetime.

Pretty good. I’m not NOT in pain, but I’m optimistic that if I go through all of the progressions the doctor has talked with me about, and don’t try to jump in too hard and too fast, I can finally kick this injury.

I did Sam Yo’s 30 minute PZE that dropped earlier this morning. Another zone 2 focused ride. (I’m wondering if Wilpers directed them to do those.) Music was all female pop icons— Britney, Gaga, Beyoncé, Whitney, etc up to Madonna. Then a 5 minute core and some ankle exercises. I need to get PT set up.

I have been bad about checking in here. I went to OTF Monday and it was a struggle. Rest day yesterday.
Today was the “Strength in Numbers” signature workout. 3G including a 14 minute row for distance. 🥴🥴🥴 I didn’t go super hard, I just didn’t have it in me. I just tried to keep it steady. I ended up with 3250m which seemed decent? I tried to keep my split time close to 2 min/500 but didn’t quite make that. But I’m happy with it bc that’s a fucking long row. 😂

Got a massage yesterday so all I did yesterday was a short treadmill walk.
Short speed run workout on the treadmill and then to the gym for deadlifts/pulls. I’m hungry and tired.

jorkzy, you did it! You should be super proud, especially since the end was uphill! I feel like the first half is always the hardest, even with all the training you can't really know what race day will be like.

Taking a rest day again today. I feel tired lately. I’m maybe getting sick but maybe just allergies? Like my throat feels swollen but not very sore, just enough to keep me awake at night. 🥴 I tried to sleep a little extra this morning, but ya know, kids.

Swim today. Was supposed to be a sprint type workout with zone 5’s but I really dislike the way they set these up. (Only 200 yards total for warm up. Yeah right)
Anyway I kind of did it but also did my own thing. I just start to feel like I’m flailing about trying to do that kind of repetitive max effort. So I focused instead on “smooth and fast”. Anyway just 1300 total today.
