I have a dumb question. Anyone here hang most of their clothes to dry? Is there a secret to your jeans not being able to stand on their own? 🤣 I've been using gain liquid fabric softener but wondering if a different kind would work better. Right now we can run the dryer for about 10 minutes and then have to wait forever to run it another 10 minutes so I've been doing that to fluff them a bit but the towels are still pretty scratchy. I hang a lot. I do a 10 minute fluff for things that need it, especially towels and jeans. I use white vinegar instead of fabric softener so idk if that helps or hurts with softening. Basically I am at the same place. 😂

I really need to wash bedding... I'm just hoping it all fits on my makeshift clothes line. Though it should be sunny and fairly warm tomorrow so I might hang them outside if I can come up with a makeshift line for outside. I'm really regretting taking down our outside clothesline right now.

I'm in Vancouver for a work trip and staying through the weekend since I've never been here.
There's a sex convention happening called Taboo so I think I might check that out tomorrow. I haven't really planned anything for Saturday. I need to do some digging this afternoon to see some fun stuff to do. Otherwise I'll probably just go shopping and eat some good food, which is my preferred way to spend time in a city anyway.

It does seem like there's some pretty excellent shopping. Is Holt Renfrew kind of like Nordstrom? It looked very fancy. I had some amazing ramen last night, and will definitely check out some cocktail bars while I'm here!

And yes, Vancouver has the best food in Canada (in my opinion).

You know what is a really fun game? When your toddler says over and over with increasing urgency, “Mommy do it… MOMMY DO IT!” But does not elaborate and gives no indication of what mommy should be doing. 🥴

I'm having some sort of issue with my eyes over the last 2 days and I cannot figure out what's going on and cannot really describe it enough to even Dr. Google it, but it's really annoying and frustrating. Some mom at Build A Bear said something rude to C last night and I'm still really salty about it today. I almost went back into the store and said something to her but didn't want to escalate the situation. I came up with a really good comeback for her and I'm sad I didn't get to use it.

My youngest just left for her first sleepover party. I'm nervous! Of course I work this evening so DH will have to get her if there are any issues. I'm not sure she'll actually end up wanting to stay.

I didn't get it 😕 I figured it would be a long shot, it was for a school nurse at my kids school district and I don't have experience. But it's very rare one of those even opens up in our district so I had to at least try. They went with someone with school nurse experience which I expected.

I think the main district in our area as well as some of the suburban districts sometimes hire substitute school nurses, which I've thought about trying to get in on as a foot in the door - I've heard they aren't as picky about experience with those positions.

Since DD1 decided to be a vegetarian we all decided to have more meatless meals throughout the week. Tonight's dinner was jackfruit carnitas. I was dreading it honestly because I don't do well with new textures/flavors and I figured the kids would hate it, too. Turns out it's a favorite for all of us! Will definitely be making it again.

We leave for Vegas tomorrow because I have to go for a work meeting Tuesday and Wednesday (DH is tagging along). Of course one of my dogs came down sick last night with and upset tummy and was pooping all over. Thankfully (or maybe not) it was very easy to collect a sample and drop it off at the vet. We now have an antibiotic. But my poor mother now has to give it to him twice a day. At least he will just take it in a piece of cheese.
He actually already seems much better. But now I’m more worried about leaving my sick dog them I am my teens.

I'm up and watching TV in bed. Apparently DS crawled into bed with MH sometime in the night so I'm just waiting for him to wake up and come out of MH's room lol.

DD2 did end up staying all night at her sleepover so I'm excited to see how her night went. DH is picking her up while I take DD1 to dance. DD1 and DH went to an arcade last night and won the jackpot and got like 10,000 tickets. She came home with a ton of prizes and got double of everything for her sister. They gave away about 1,000 tickets because they couldn't spend them all. The kids are staying with my parents tonight so I'm hoping we can go out for DH's birthday which is next week. I ended up getting called off of work last night surprisingly so I got an amazing night's sleep since my early riser was gone. The weekend is off to a good start!

My ILs keep gifting us Texas Roadhouse GCs and we never end up using them. I think we're up to $200 or something. So I think we'll go for lunch today and try to get there shortly after they open. If we order an app and dessert in addition to entrees we should make a decent sized dent 😂

They are in charge of their church's fundraiser where they sell gift cards before and after Mass, so they buy a ton of gift cards. We do order take out from Red Robin often because that is my kids' #1 choice and they know that, but we can't use the gift cards easily when ordering online, so we had a huge pile of them stockpiled. Last year dd had a big group over before trick-or-treating for Halloween, and several of the parents stayed for dinner beforehand and to see them get dressed up. I was able to order for all the kids and parents and pay with the gcs, it was awesome.

Sometimes it's a really good price depending on whether the chicken is available or the pulled pork. People rave about the portion sizes for about $40 but of course your mileage may vary

I need out of my house. Both kids stayed home sick yesterday, so I was home with them. My H is working today and the kids are better, but not enough to go anywhere. It’s finally sunny, so I will definitely be taking a walk later. I have a grocery order to pick up and I wish I felt comfortable leaving them home alone together, but I’ve never done it before. They’re 13 and 10, but the 10 y.o. is so impulsive and I just don’t think we’re there yet.

H took the girls skiing this weekend, so it’s just me and DS. Last night he was in bed by 7, and I just zoned out and watched Housewives before going to bed early. It was amazing.
We went to Gymboree, and now he is putzing around the backyard. Thankfully it isn’t supposed to rain again till Monday.

The website we use for Girl Scout cookies has not been working since cookie season started last week, and it has been such a pain in the ass. Emails aren’t being sent out, the number of cookies hasn’t updated till today, and it’s just a hot mess.
So glad I didn’t volunteer to be cookie manager for either troop. 😂

We had haircuts, a bowling birthday party and library today.
H was working at the new restaurant all day and just started at the old job. We do finally have all the plans into the city correctly, so we should find out when we can legitimately open this week. There’s just a handful of things to get done before the health inspector can come, so 🤞it is soon.
DD is going to the birthday girl’s house for a sleepover (just the two of them, BFFs) and Linus and I are going to watch super hero movies and make bread.
We’re supposed to get two feet of snow between tonight and Monday, so I’m making a giant pot of soup and loaves of bread.

We have a pretty good peewee team here, and are going to get a AAA team this fall. I’m so glad mine are still happy with free skate Saturdays.

DD2 after recovering from the flu has a massive ear infection so now she is on antibiotics which literally means pinning her down to take medicine. She hates ALL medicine and is so stubborn about it.
