Helping to juice turnout is an amazing accomplishment in itself! So proud of you!! Our turnout was literally double what we normally get for the off year school board races, it's amazing! Currently I'm sitting at about 8850 votes vs about 12k for my opponents, but I'm really hoping to get up to 9K for the final totals. That would be 50% higher than my original vote goal I'm so proud of you! You worked your ass off for something so incredibly important to you. Your efforts didn't go unnoticed and we're proud to be your support crew here too ❤️

I'm glad to see my county executive won reelection. He was so fantastic during the pandemic. The Syracuse county executive won reelection too. He came to meet with my refuge students at the anti violence club I was an advisor for to hear from our sweet city kids about what they wanted and needed in terms of reducing crime rates. Just super tuned in and wonderful.
Most of the towns around us went red, but Dems won the county assembly, so that's a relief at least.

The casino ballot in Richmond was defeated! I'm annoyed it was put to a vote again but so glad to see RVA voted no. Like voters said no once, do not ask again. Welp they did and voters said no with an even greater percentage! MH was following that one closely. He practically giggled when he saw how much it lost by.

I spent the afternoon/evening canvassing for our local write in candidate after our city council representative in my ward was convicted of solicitation this summer. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful (how could we have re-elected a sex offender?!?). I will be continuing my biweekly city council meetings and hope that maybe city council will kick him out of there (I’m not holding my breath). It’s been my first real taste of local politics and I’m disgusted and disgruntled enough to maybe run for our at large seat next year. They haven’t seen the last of me!
Our 2 far right moms for liberty school board candidates were also successful. Very discouraged locally today. Happy for our statewide issues however!

Thankfully all of the far right school board candidates in my district lost and the teacher endorsed candidates all won. Thank God.

Scalia's daughter lost our school board and the mom who actually has her kids in public school won! (And Scalia spent over $100K on her campaign!)

My local school board did not go well. The moms 4 Liberty candidate won a seat. Ugh, I'm sorry. Around us up north, in two districts, the seats were NOT flipped to their candidates.

3 of 4 bond measures passed for our school district. The 4th failed by less than 1% so that’s a bummer.

I didn’t know weed was on the ballot until I was messaging a coworker in Ohio about voting this morning and I said “oh that makes me feel a lot better about issue 1”. She did say the way issue 1 was worded was confusing and she was worried about unintentionally voting the wrong way. Sorry I’m catching up so someone else may have mentioned this. You can thank the wording on our Secretary of State. He changed the wording purposely to try to get it to fail. It went to the Supreme Court and they didn’t make him change it back to the original amendment wording. It was definitely confusing and had anti-choice language on the ballot.

mrsweasley that is amazing and impressive. The thought of so many people selecting your name on a ballot is incredible. Congratulations

Congratulations mrsweasley! So many of us would not have the courage to do what you did, so I hope you feel very proud even though the results weren't what you hoped for. And that turnout is wonderful. Locally, I'm very discouraged by our school board election results and worried for our schools, but overall I'm so happy for Virginia.

I am honestly shocked Issue 2 passed by a slightly higher percentage that Issue 1. I was pretty confident they would both pass, but that was really the "surprise" of the night

Hoping those of you who ended up with MforL people on your school boards end up the way ours did, stepping down after realizing it was going to be actual work. That just spouting hate rhetoric won’t do much but gather unwanted attention and press. Especially once the kids start hearing it all.

I was pretty confident they would both pass, but that was really the "surprise" of the night My husband and I were talking about that earlier! He said something like that's kinda close though and I looked at him like he had 3 heads. I had to explain to him that those are considered huge margins of victory when it comes to voting. (He pays attention to things happening and who wins/loses but not the numbers lol). It does make me glad we defeated the special election in August though. It's crazy to think that if it went the other way, neither of those would have been successful.

Our local school board members who skew that direction have been extremely quiet and unproductive (according to their base supporters) since getting elected last year. Turns out managing school districts is a lot harder than shouting about choice and library books, and you actually have to spend taxpayer money to keep things running.

Running an entire school district is hard? Ya don't say. Imagine. Our city school board's newest member is a 19 year old graduate from the district. They had him on the news and he's fantastic. I'm so excited to see a young person who is deeply invested in a district that has been a complete dumpster fire for forever coming up to try and help. It really keeps giving me good feelings about Gen Z.

When I did the candidate forum at the HS I mentioned wanting to create a non-voting student position on the board and every class period at least one kid asked about it, they seemed excited about getting engaged

I missed the call because I was at preschool pickup, but the Superintendent called me today and left a message basically encouraging me to not give up because he thinks I would make a great school board member and he hopes I stay engaged
I've picked up most of the signs I've been able to track down, there are maybe 20 more out there, but I have plenty if I decide to run again
