We had city council, school board, and a tax levy on the ballot today.
You can really see how my city is changing - there were ZERO old white men/women candidates (actually, zero white candidates at all) for school board. And really so far as I could tell with my cursory review there wasn't a really bad candidate for school board, just some that had more developed ideas than others. And my ward for city council also had all POC except one crazy old white dude who is the worst.
I can also tell I'm becoming a totally legit adult because I know someone who is running for city council (in a different ward than I'm in).

Beshear seems to be doing okay in Ky so far. Does anyone know how tight that election is supposed to be?

I don’t have any local races I had to vote in or that I am invested in (beyond some curiosity over whether the M4L candidates are going to win their races in nearby towns) but I definitely feel like this election is a bellwether for what’s to come in 2024.
Beshear seems to have won Kentucky though.

We had several important local elections on the ballot, including DA, treasurer, county council and more. But the county executive race is the big one

I feel like things might be going well in Ohio.
I've been really worried because I live in a red sea (although there's more blue than it seems, the red are just very loud here) so it's sometimes difficult to get a feel for the state as a whole.

Beshear seems to be doing okay in Ky so far. Does anyone know how tight that election is supposed to be? I'm in a hotel room and have cable so I'm watching Kornacki, he says Beahear won by a Razor thin margin in 2019 so as long as he outperforms in key counties tonight, he's in good shape. Right now, it's too early to tell as more populous jurisdictions aren't ready to report.

I'm definitely pleasantly surprised by the margin that it seems issue 1 will pass with.

It's been very intense here.

I want to belive this, but it feels too early. Like it's only 7% reporting rn NYT has 30% reporting state wide.

NYT goes by percent of estimated votes instead of precincts so some of those 14% of precincts must be larger ones.

MSNBC just had my Congress rep (Jen McClellan) on to talk about how Youngkin and VA Repubs are using the abortion issue to get to voters during the election cycle. She did a great job during the interview. And I promptly died when she called out Youngkin's incessant vests at the end. Legit LOLed.

Ohio Issue 2 (Rec MJ) passes according to AP. Putting rec mj on the ballot in the same cycle as issue 1 seems like an idiotic miscalculation on the part of the anti-both folks
