Iβm with you. Sure Iβm sad because theyβre growing up, blah blah but Iβm ecstatic that theyβre gone all day and fed. Not having to make or pay for lunches is the best part Yessss to the bolded. Something about making lunches is harmful to my soul lol. The free lunches is going to be amazing. My kids ARE gone all day even during the summer because I don't have the luxury to keep them home while I work. But letting the oldest just get picked up/dropped off by the bus is much nicer. Of course, in 2 years (wtf is time), the twins will be going to Kindergarten and I'll probably be packing lunches because they are autistic and extremely picky. So, I'll enjoy the nonpacking while it lasts. I look forward to it, because I get more alone time to actually do my work during the day. Not much since H works 2nd shift, but some. I will forever have to pack DD2's lunch though. School will not guarantee no cross contamination with her egg allergy. And no more free lunches here. Sigh.

Summer with two grade school kids has been so much more laid back than summer with preschoolers at home. They are self-sufficient enough to entertain themselves for long periods of time and to do helpful things like getting their backpacks ready for camp so that we can get out the door.

And see I like the preschool age because their school doesn't close in the summer so there is no change in routine lol. I am already dreading figuring out summer care for the twins when the time comes. It's enough in the future that I can't say for sure but I don't know if I'll feel comfortable sending them to the day camp my other son goes to because I have no idea how they'd do at camps meant for NT kids with no extra supports. Why are there no summer camps that accommodate for disabled children?

The SpEd staff likely have a list of summer programs that are specifically for or are prepared to facilitate kids with disabilities. Our school district puts out an extensive list every year. If there are camps run by the county or public school, they should have ADA accommodations in place. My 10 year old is in county camps all summer with the support of an inclusion specialist provided by the county. There are often also social skills camps for autistic kids that you can get health insurance to help pay for. The trick is to find the people who know about that stuff in your region.

Yeah my youngest is entering kindergarten and it makes things a lot easier. My kids don't like school lunches so we pack year round, but I have them help me pick out what to put in there. I'm also a weirdo that loves summer weather. The other big thing for me is our schedule gets so crazy when school starts. Each kid does a sport, the schools have events, other extra curriculars, etc. We have so much fewer obligations in the summer months.

Hopefully there will be even more to offer when they are ready to go to big kid camp.

Thanks Minerva and fatpony. I am sure there are resources that I haven't looked into yet, it just stresses me out to think of. We are in a district that is pretty good with their SpEd programs, so I can hope.

willow, it IS stressful and overwhelming. You are juggling a ton and it can be hard to find good childcare options for autistic kids. I definitely donβt want to diminish that!

Apparently I get to start figuring out the house now. Had to call a plumber yesterday, thankfully they had someone available to move us up from next week to today. We need a few new interior lines, but because some are galvanized, we need all new interior lines. There is also a bigger, urgent main line issue, that Iβm REALLY hoping we donβt have to deal with all weekend. Fun times.

I filed my ballot petitions today. The ballot should be ready the 21st with all the certified candidates. I'm excited and nervous
The next step for me is to open a bank account and decide on a fundraising platform. I stopped in a couple banks and they were all very confused so I think I need to reach out to a former candidate and find out who they used

I've been eyeing the 30L version of this bag for a while to use as a personal item when traveling. Please update if you love it or hate it!

Mh and I have been talking about this a lot. The preschooler is still in school all summer, and his brother is bored. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily, boredom. But it'll be a lot easier when the little one is school age and they're home together.

I don't think we're there yet with my 6YO. This is his last week of camp and there are still two more weeks left until school and I'm not sure that I'll get much done (and of course there is SO MUCH to get done). π

I was offered the teaching job and accepted it. Iβm actually feeling very excited about it. Middle school science, here I come! I get my own classroom, so Iβm on Etsy, looking at nerdy science decorations. π
