I'm glad to hear his passing was peaceful clucky. And the gift of organ donation is really the bright spot in grief. A close friend of mine just celebrated his two year anniversary of a liver transplant, so thank you to families like yours. I can only imagine how difficult it is. Now he lives on through his gift through someone else celebrating life.

fancynewbeesly, I remember those heated whisper arguments between H and I, over a sleeping feverish child, about who’s work day was more important and who could take the hit - H is self employed so it was always money out of our pocket when he wasn’t working while I had PTO but carried the benefits so I couldn’t risk being out every time the kids were too sick for school or daycare. I am always a DM away if you need to vent…. Coordinating who misses work for a sick kid sucks. I hope her fever isn't anything too bad and your DD1 is able to avoid it, fancynewbeesly.

A close friend of mine just celebrated his two year anniversary of a liver transplant, so thank you to families like yours. I can only imagine how difficult it is. Now he lives on through his gift through someone else celebrating life. It really is the ultimate gift. He was a recipient too. His donor gave him nearly another decade. Years where he got to meet all of his nephews and they are all old enough to remember him (to varying degrees). It wasn’t hard to remember the feelings from that day: when he got the call, then the anxiety of the last minute tests, & finally the made it through surgery call. The Live On people gave us some very lovely momentos, including a BABear with his heartbeat. Initially they gave ILs one and MIL must have asked for a second, which she gifted to the boys. His pancreas (maybe both his OG & donated, I truly don’t know) was also donated to be studied, so hopefully that also helps with T1D research a/o transplanting.

We got my certifiable crazy MIL who is always our last, last resort to watch DD2. She has paranoid schizophrenia but refuses to take her medication. So literally our last resort. She tends to turn off her phone because everyone is hacking her and we can't get in touch with her for days. Anyway, usually the only reason we let her watch DD2 all day is because DD1 is home as a responsible adult. But DD1 can't drive and we don't want her getting sick so she can't be near DD2. We tend to let my MIL only watch DD2 by herself if is for a couple of hours.
DH said he could take Friday if need be so thankfully our week is covered.

She's been asleep on the couch for over an hour now.

I am so irritated by my district abandoning all health protocols in favor of militant attendance pushing. Yes, I understand that attendance is very important. But if my child is ill, I am not sending them to school to infect everyone else! For the record, when there was a mask mandate in place, my kids never missed school. So fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck Glennnnnnnnnnn

DD1's bestie that she hangs out with all day sent her a message last evening that she is sick with a 102 fever so now I feel like I'm just waiting for DD1 to go down.

Flu A has hit the house for DS13. I am really debating whether to give tamiflu or now just wait it out - if I use the treat the child not the diagnosis he doesn’t need it and I am reasonably sure we missed the window of containment for the rest of us.
I was really hoping it was strep.

Apparently I need to retrain my mind.

Her other bestie was out sick today too. Oh boy 😬 DD1 is staying with my parents tomorrow so I hope she either doesn't get it or gets it before she goes there so we can just cancel.

cnf how is she today? Hopefully feeling better. Fine, the little punk. She was definitely not feeling great yesterday, but she was up this morning jamming around being her usual self. I was ready to send her to school but H insisted on staying home with her. She was fine all day. So just a fluke of some sort, thank goodness.

YLE has had a couple of posts recently about how the updated covid vaccines last fall were a good match and actually decreased your likelihood of catching covid by 54%. That seems pretty decent when a year ago it was all the vaccines won't stop you catching it.

We were at my parents house last Friday night for dinner. My aunt that was there tested positive for Covid on Monday.
I feel like garbage, but my test yesterday and this morning was negative so I’m assuming the children in my class shared their germs with me. I get how tough it is as a working parent to take time off, but these kids are coughing and the stuff coming out of their noses is gross. I work with spec ed kindergarteners. One little guy is on a 9 month level. He sneezes and then rubs it all over his face before we can get to him. Yesterday , he somehow managed to have stuff on his ear. Totally reminded me of the scene from “There’s Something About Mary” 🤢

This week has been garbage. Ds1 got sick first. Then dh and I started to feel crummy. Finally BabyO spiked fevers so we took him to the dr and turns out it’s influenza A. No point in testing anyone else, but ugh. The fever and chills hit me hard and I’m just dying plus have an awful cough. Ds is on the mend minus a terrible cough that he ends up puking from. No school all week for ds1 ugh. I called in twice for work so far but I seriously cannot figure out how to go to work tomorrow but I’m all out of sick time. And I lost my voice. So yay.

Thanks guys. We will be ok. I’m just glad today is the first day DH didn't go to work (he seems to just have a cold? No cough or fever or any other symptoms, but wore a mask whole time at work ) so I was able to actually rest most of the day. I guess I’m grateful we got the shots bc I cannot imagine how bad this would be if we hadn’t gotten the flu shot 😵💫 klw I hope you’re feeling better / tests remain negative.

Fascinating public health analysis on hearing loss from the WaPo department of data wapo.st/42JAGU4And CDC moving away from 5 day covid isolation guidance (breathes into a paper bag in immunocompromised myself). Hopefully YLE will do a post ASAP to keep me off the ledge. wapo.st/3wosNqLboth gifted articles

Though they capped us at three uses of the policy anyways, so GFY anyone who's had it all four years.

SUPER.
