Beetlejuice is closing 1/8!! Very sad about it but I’ll catch it again on tour. See it while you can! I got Hamilton tickets for March on tour. I saw it a few years ago on Broadway but now my youngest is into it, so I got tickets for both of us and my MIL. I also want to see Six with the kids. Going to try to snag tickets at TKTS because it’s such a steep price for a short show!

It was awesome, exceeded all expectations! I also highly recommend seeing it if given the chance. I’m pondering how to get my nyc hating but theater loving daughter up there to see it before it closes. She would love it!

Well, my kids are super lucky! We’re headed back to nyc for one night next weekend and I’m planning to get tix to take my younger daughter to Beatlejuice. I just thought it was so great! It will be my second time to see it and I’m really excited. I’m still surprised and sad it’s closing. I hope I can get great seats, fx!
PS- has anyone heard of “And Juliet?” I think it’s going to be a hit! It’s opening the end of this month.

I didn't get the reference of the first one but now I see he has an adaptation of Cinderella coming out soon.

Spent last night in nyc. Our flight was delayed getting in and beatlejuice was sold out at TKTS. So we bought Sunday matinee Tix and saw 1776 last night. I liked it, all female cast and they did a great job. My kids were not surprisingly bored. Beatlejuice this afternoon was excellent! Both my kids fav show and they’ve seen quite a few! So I stand by my recommendation for this show, it’s so fun!

We’re heading back to NYC for spring break in March. Does anyone know where I can find a list of new shows that are opening before then? I few shows I was looking at tickets for are closing before then so I’m curious what will be opening.

My daughter (8) wanted to show me a little song and dance she and her friends did (on their own, not as part of a class) at school and my mind was a bit blown when I realized it was from Heathers. Mostly because it was this Gen X ers absolute favorite movie in the 90s.
Then I clutched my pearls because obviously not age appropriate 🤣

Does anyone know what she's referring to? Also holy shit. The only context I've seen her name come up in this past week was because a cast member of Hadestown stopped the show to ask someone to turn off their recording device - problem is, it wasn't a phone, it was an ADA device. Lots of articles/tweets mentioned how Patti has chastised audience members for not silencing their phones before. I just looked online and apparently she decided to resign her Equity card over the summer: www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/10/18/patti-lupone-equity-card/

I got tickets to see Six in Hartford. I like the music and want to see it, but it's such a short show with a small cast and no sets, and I refuse to pay the crazy broadway prices for it.

My H bought tickets for us there too. One of the disappointments of moving was missing out on our season tickets for all of the touring shows. Obviously we'll go see stuff on Broadway too eventually but it's nice there's something closer.

TikTok just told me there is some traveling musical club called Defying Gravity. They play theater songs and people dance. It sounds wonderful.

My mom and I went to see SIX last night, the tour is here right now. OMG it was SO. GOOD. We were on the main floor center rows, in the 3rd row! So we had amazing seats too. I want to go back and see it multiple times. Probably gonna listen to the music all day lol.

The last two were on a cruise and my kids (8 & 5) LOVED it. We went the first night it was on and my boys begged to go back so we saw it again the following night. 😂 I’m glad you liked it, it’s great fun! The original cast album is great but I also really like the live Broadway recording.

caer If tickets weren't basically sold out and $$ I would totally go again. I was lucky to get tickets since I hit the button RIGHT at 10am the day they went on sale and refreshed a million times and Wed night was the only one I could get with main floor seats haha.

Oh bummer, I also wanted to see it again immediately after I saw it the first time so I get that. Maybe you can catch it when it comes again. But that’s awesome you got such good seats!

Ok, I need help. MH got me tickets for Christmas to the touring production of Hamilton when it comes to our city this spring. But I have no idea what to wear! I think I wanna dress up, make it a special occasion, but I don't have any inspiration. Y'all have any suggestions?
He got tickets for all 3 of us, since N loves listening to the soundtrack. She's looking forward to getting a new dress for the occasion as well.

Helloooo
I have a free day alone in NY next Saturday and was thinking I’d see something on Broadway (I’ve never been). I’ve seen Hamilton and Phantom on tour, so I think I’d like to see something new to me.
What is your must see right now, of everything currently playing. Book of Mormon, Hadestown, and Six all caught my eye.

Book of Mormon was great but out of those I'd probably choose Hadestown with Six a close second. Mostly because I haven't seen it yet and I'm desperate to, lol.

Of those three, I’ve only seen Book of Mormon and it’s fucking amazing. But I also desperately want to see the others… very tough call 😂
I saw Frozen well before I saw or listened to Book of Mormon. And because of that I very often picture Olaf when listening to it.

If you are up for a play and not a musical, Oscar Isaac and Rachel Brosnahan are in a Lorraine Hansberry play in Brooklyn. That’s what I’d try to see if I were in NYC!

Those are all great (I’ve seen all three) but I was blown away by Moulin Rouge. I wasn’t even a fan of the movie, but the Broadway production is my all-time favorite. It’s often at TKTS. Book of Mormon is usually there too; absolutely hilarious! Six is great fun but nothing earth shattering IMO. It’s going to be around forever because it’s such a cheap production to put on. I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t love Hadestown. Otoh, it’s my dd’s most fav. You can’t go wrong with any of your choices! Have fun :-)
