Calling all experts: just got my instant pot and I can’t figure out if it’s actually on or not. I’m trying to use the soup function for 10 minutes. It just says “on” and it never shows the time left and it went on for much longer than 10 minutes. What am I doing wrong? Not trying to be snarky, but reading the instruction manual was pretty straightforward and helped with my questions.

Thanks. I didn’t do the water test 😞 it took a very long time to heat up but it got there. Which makes sense since it was basically filled to the max level for potato soup. Thanks! . Sounds normal. More liquid means more time to come to pressure. Yeah. Exactly this.

It just took an extraordinarily long time to get pressurized since it was so full - I wasn’t expecting that so I was second guessing that I had done something wrong.

If you turn on the saute function while you are adding stuff it will pressurize faster. Since the pot is already hot.

If anyone cares to tell me which accessories I should put on my Christmas list, feel free.

If anyone cares to tell me which accessories I should put on my Christmas list, feel free. I have a basket that I can boil eggs in(or I suppose veggies) and a silicone lid for fridge storage. Love both. On my wish list are an extra liner(I want a non-stick), a clear glass lid for the times I'm not pressuring, and a spring form pan. I would also take some extra sealing rings.

I cooked a whole sugar pie pumpkin yesterday in the pot and can't believe how easy it was. The outside got hard and after I slide it open the inside just fell apart and it was easy to puree. First time I've made my own pumpkin puree! Do you think butternut squash would be similar?

Reviving this thread! Anyone have any suggestions on how to convert this to the IP? I haven't done the pot in pot method yet. What would be the best container to put it in? I use a pyrex for the oven or microwave with it but that wouldn't work in the IP, of course. www.keyingredient.com/recipes/1309283/chevys-sweet-corn-tomalito/
